I'd also like to see players get nominated for one category or the other rather than both.

The main PFA award is there for every player regardless of age so if the best player is under 25, then by definition he must surely also pick up the best young player award.

Giving two awards for over / under would be an alternative.

25 is way too high anyway.

Is the upper age limit of 'young' not 23 in this case?

In 2011 Bale won player of the year at 21, whilst Wilshere picked up young player of the year the same year.

It's all a bit of a joke each year anyway, I think.

I'm not sure what the age limit is if I'm honest. I thought it was 25 but perhaps it is 23.

I think (and I could be wrong) Ronaldo picked up PFA player of the year when he was young and scooped young PFA player of the year the same season. Then wasn't there something funny like Ronaldo got one award but Fabregas got the other.

I thought Michu, Fellani and Gerrard should have had a mention this year but I guess the nominees are a result of who the PFA members vote for.

I would like to think that a goalie would feature more often in these awards, some of them have been in tremendous form this term.

Arsenal have been poor today.

Sidwell sent off early, perhaps slightly softly, for a late challenge on Arteta. Ref has been looking to rectify that mistake from the start of the 2nd half and Giroud has just seen red for a tackle that probably wasn't even a foul. Hopefully an appeal will mean we don't miss him for 3 games at least.

Very poor performance, but happily take the 3 points ..... COME ON CITY!

Lots of Arsenal fans cheering on Spurs because it reduces the odds of United lifting the trophy at the Emirates. I've never been one to care about where a trophy is won in this type of circumstance. I care much more about our top 4 finish so a City win is the order of the day for me.

Well it would be nice to see a Cup presented at The Emirates loll

Harry Redknapp's win percentage at QPR is down to 19%. Hughes and Warnock were both on 20%.

4 defeats on the trot will do that. The belief has drained out of them in recent games and it's been obvious on the pitch. I still think that, had we had Harry from the start of the season, we would probably have stayed up.

Spurs apart, has Harry been relegated with every team his managed? I know his gone down with Bournemouth, Southampton and Portsmouth, not sure if he took West Ham down too.

I'm in two minds about some of the fixtures.

I don't really want to see Tottenham in the Champions League but neither do I want a City win.

I'd love to see Chelsea fail to make the Champions league (can't see it though) but I don't really want Liverpool to win as I bet my mate that Liverpool would finish closer to the bottom team than the top team.

So far they're 31 points off the top and 26 points off the bottom so it's looking good.

I guess a pair of draws would do me.

That LSD I took earlier was strong stuff!! Just hallucinated that Wenger was on MoTD saying that Girouds sending off was a red!!! Obviously, in the real world he never sees anything.

His press style has changed considerably in the last couple of years. Obviously he still carries the old reputation but he's actually much more honest in his analysis of events.

Phew - Glad it wasn't just me that saw it then.

Sidwells was a red, although it seemed harsh seeing some of the challenges gone unpunished in recent weeks!!! Girouds could easily have been a booking - have a feeling if it was still 11 v 11 it may have only been a yellow, but he did go over the ball.

Gutted Wigan lost, really hoping they stay up. While 40pts is needed, it has to be between Villa and Wigan for the last spot.

In some ways I am glad that QPR are dropping - a great example of how NOT to run a club. The transfer policy has in the main been a joke, and I am still not sure that sacking Warnock was the right thing.

Well done Tottenham.

Champagne going in the fridge.

Absolutely shocking game from City. Completely dominated the first half but failed to take their chances and then bottled it at the end. Mancini must be fearing for his job. To not deliver with the squad he has is something terrible.

Can't see Mancini being there at the end of May

After winning the title last year, the FA Cup would be scant consolation for losing the title so early this year and being dumped out of the Champions League when they were. Can't imagine the owners seeing it as progress.

I can't see the owners sacking somebody who wins a trophy. I know they should have been competing for the league, but still. It would be a mad decision.

Didn't help Di Matteo, didn't help Dalglish.

City should have been a lot closer to Utd given the money they have spent, and that they are the Champions. Only a good run in the Champions League, which they didn't have, could have taken the pressure off Mancini. The League and FA Cup's are seen as pretty irrelevant as far as owners are concerned sadly. :(

I caught the end of the Spurs v City game, and Warren Barton was very critical of Mancini afterwards.

I see Suarez is a bit peckish today:D

Mancini just seems to be devoid of tactical understanding and man management skills. He brought Sinclair on when he had Silva and Aguero on the bench and needed to turn the game around. Bizarre decision.

Now supposedly Aguero isn't fit to return until the 27th, in which case you don't select him for the bench if he doesn't stand a chance of being used.

Not to mention what he's done to the defensive line all season. Switching from 4 men to 3 and then back to 4. Rinse and repeat. Chopping and changing the CB partnerships for no reason other than to look like he knows what he's doing and has been doing some thinking.

I even said it at the time they won the league that it was courtesy of the incredible quality of their players shining through rather than any contribution he can claim.

I only know one man city fan but he's in complete agreement. He doesn't like or rate Mancini at all.

I suppose in Uruguay biting is a way to show your friendship with someone is it?

What an utterly vile little man he is.

Haha and a cracking shot from Downing goes out for a throw. Heskey would be proud!

What does North America have to do with anything?

It doesn't. I was too hasty to reply.

"@Vermaelen05: Luis Suarez' stats: 1 assist, 3 floor-rolls, 5 grins, 4 screams, 6 gestures to ref, 4 big teeth, 2 offsides, 1 handball, 1 bite."

It's not needed either as he is a wonderful footballer.

Less wonderful as a human being.

True but you can't fault his hunger:)

I knew Suarez would have one of his moments after giving the penalty away. You can tell from his body language when there's one coming Lol

I didn't think he'd try eating somebody again though.
