It's been a good week or so for managers having a moan. Fergie will get a ban though rather than a wrap on the knuckles and previous seems to suggest it's no great hardship either way. I doubt he's bothered as it's coming up to seige mentality time of year anyway :suspect:

But he was totally right. They should have had a penalty, it was stonewall. Then Chelsea get given 2 goals by the ref. maybe the FA should sort out the standard of refereeing first!!!

Therein lies the problem.

Whether what you say is right or not doesn't matter. There are rules in place which the FA can act on. Unfortunately, like during the game, there is no consistency when it comes to what the FA accept and what they choose punish.

I'm all for managers having the freedom to voice their opinions whether it be Fergie, Wenger, Mourinho or anybody else.

It doesn't really matter whether they're right or wrong - it's only their opinion and comments from managers might create that bit of pressure required to ensure more is done to try and improve the standard of refereeing.

If the FA don't want to get criticised they should focus on getting the big decisions right rather than silencing the critics.
 
I'd vote for Dalglish too.

Gerrard's caerer reminds me very much of Bryan Robson's - both fantastic players who stand out as inspirational players during lean times.

he does need to clarify what he said.

He didn't just say that an official got some calls wrong. He implied that the official was deliberately not going to give man u any calls.

"There was no way the linesman was going to give that - he gave them everything"

thats what he'll need to clarify.

It's not exactly an ambiguous phrase though. The sentiment is pretty clear cut and asking for an explanation is just giving the opportunity to wiggle out of it. Off the top of my head I can't remember the last time a manager was invited to explain his comments. They are always taken at face value and acted on by the FA. Not to mention his criticism was legit, not that it makes a jot of difference to how the FA perceive it.
 
Lots of managers/players are asked to clarify statements....it is just than when Fergie gets asked, the world makes a beeline for it. 'tis what the press call 'news' but not you or I.

yeah like tom said, i can remember quite a few times where managers have been asked to explain their comments. :shrug:
 
Montpelier have confirmed Mbiwa is to join Newcastle. Talks between Newcastle, Gouffran and Sissoko are said to be at an advanced stage. Debuchy has already joined them. Viva la revolucion! All this from a man who hit out at Arsenal for having too many foreign players. Now look at how are teams are balanced!

Slightly disappointed to have lost out on Mbiwa and apparently Zaha too. I just hope Arsene has something special planned or my faith could be tested!

Tried to leave a response to the article but have a guess what.....nothing doing as I presented the stat fact about how MU actually get less 50/50 decisions pro rata than any other club especially at OT.

No,think they have to win it,if not then it's the 5th(or is it 6th,loose track on which position qualifies for what these days) in the Prem that qualifies so Arsenal fans may have something to look forward to:D.
Actually think Euro qualifying is getting a joke now,it seems like any team having a just above average season qualifies for a European competition;coming second was just first loser now it's better than winning a trophy:cuckoo:.

In the League Cup, only the WINNER gets into Europe. If the winner is already in Europe by alternative means. It goes to whoever is 7th place in the Premier League. Not the runners up.

So Bradford need to win the League Cup if they wish to participate in Europe next season.

Oh, Tommy. H&G put millions in debt on the club and still didn't back Rafa. FSG removed the debt and have adopted a more sensible book balancing plan this season.

But if they don't get to the CL ...they will not be able to balance the books.......now do ya see where I am coming from?
 
That is not true, Tommy. I honestly do not know what you base that on. The way we are balancing the book s is to buy what we can afford based on our income. That is why Buck had to look more cheaply in this and the last window. CL is the goal but it was not the be all and end all for this season.

As it happens I think CL football is more important to keep Suarez than anything else and it wouldn't surprise me to see him go in the summer if we fail to get it.
 
I can see sense in selling surez if someone if paying $40 million for him

As you say CL is not the be all and end all of this particular season but it is the end game, as well as PL title (long way off). So the squad should be improved in all areas and right now it is a very thin squad - one that if we did make CL would make it very difficulty to field strong enough teams when there are 3 matchs and a flight to the back of beyond within 9 days.

Selling suarez for 40mil will enable four 10 mil players to come in. In the end 4 10 mil players should make the team stronger than one 40 mil player. It is afterall, a team game

Are you forgetting that you need to fund redevelopment of that shanty stadium...by what ever route it takes for the new venture?

The longer it is left, the more it will cost to build/renew...... (not just Liverpool by the way!)

Man U have a business model envied by many corporate bodies because of the inane attitude of fanatics (I bet Jessops wish they had season ticket holders etc!) Other clubs are catching on to their strategy. I agree that success on the field should/would bring in revenue in areas that are not available to unsuccessful clubs and by selling Suarez, as Joseph said, the long term goal would possible arrive sooner and therefore allow you to balance the books and build a new stadia with a competitive side.

that never happens though does it?

£40m sales would never be reinvested straight back into buying more players. They would perhaps invest £20-25 and then the fans think they've done 'a good bit of business'...

40mil to invest in players and in the club however they see fit will help the team more than 1 player does
