Loic Remy has joined QPR for a transfer fee of £8m and £80,000 per week. He said in his interview "I'm here for the moment", which hardly fills you with confidence. Should QPR get relegated he'll have a release clause of just £3m.

He's only scored 4 goals in 17 games for his former club this season. That said, he's a decent player and may be able to help if he settles into the side and the league quickly.

As redhead says - there wasn't that much interest in Walcott and by that I mean there wasn't interest from the clubs that have recently taken Arsenal players and given them a higher wage.

Liverpool were interested by all accounts and might have paid him somewhere in the same region (I think Downing might be £100K +) but I doub't he'd go there if he can earn the same at Arsenal and have the whole thing come to the fore again in a couple of years.

Just fyi Downing is on 60k.

To be fair, he's been coming back from injury and I don't think he started most of those games.

As for the relegation release clause, I think we'd struggle to afford to keep him if we're relegated so, as long as he puts in a shift for the rest of the season, it doesn't really bother me.

Yep indeed, think he has only started 2 of 14 league games. I'm quite happy with the signing as we desperately need a striker.

I wish we'd stop chasing midfielders though, we have plenty already - we really just need a central defender with Nelsen's expected departure.

Well, considering he's only started earning it since being told he could leave it's not exactly okay. ;)

Well there are plenty of players guilty of that.

What are the odds of Liverpool getting Sneijder ?

I think Inter and Galatasaray have agreed an £8m transfer fee but It seems he (or his people) are doing what they did last time by letting the whole world know the fee so they can see what sort of personal terms other clubs might offer before the end of the window. He's waiting on a Premier League club making a move although I think it's probably a £100K a week demand.

He priced himself out of an agreed transfer move to United a few years ago with huge personal demands but now the fee is so much less I still reckon he'd be a good signing for somebody even though I think the Sneijder/United ship has sailed.

I don't know, I really don't. I'm also not so sure how good a signing he'd be as he's been a bit hit and miss since the treble season for Inter. I think the fact both Gerrard and Suarez as well as Buck have come out in the media to talk about the merit of signing experienced players and Ian Ayre has also backed down a bit on the boards stance hints that they may be considering it.

We're now signing players on performance related contacts with plenty of add-ons rather than huge weekly wages so we'll see. fortunately the club still has some pull because of our history but whether it has enough...

We do need to make a few signings though as Cole and Sahin leaving leaves us a player down rather than up.

This was in The Times - Cole and Sahin have certainly freed up enough wonga...

The Holland international, who has been marginalised at Internazionale after reportedly failing to agree a new contract on reduced terms, has stalled on a €10m (£8m) transfer to Galatasaray as he holds out for an offer from a major Premier League club. The Turkish club have given Sneijder until the weekend to make a decision on his future and, in an attempt to increase interest from England, his representatives have indicated he would take a pay cut to join the likes of United and Liverpool.

Sneijder earns more than £6.5m a year after tax from his contract with Inter, a sum that – with the transfer fee – has limited his options. His basic wage and age, 28, does not fit with Fenway Sports Group's transfer policy at Liverpool but their manager, Brendan Rodgers, would press Sneijder's claims to the club's owners if he were prepared to reduce his demands rather than play in Turkey. Liverpool's weekly wage bill has been reduced by approximately £160,000 this month with the departures of Joe Cole and Nuri Sahin to West Ham United and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

Asked about the prospect of signing Sneijder, the Liverpool manager said on Thursday: "I couldn't see that happening. Daniel [Sturridge] was our main priority so we'll see what else is available."

Yes, I've read that too. Let's just say I'm not holding my breath, but he is exactly what we need... well, along with a center half and a DM... and another striker!

Sturridge and Suarez show today.

I don't think Sneijder is worth the money, and hopefully the Liverpool manager and owners feel the same. If he was that good there would be clubs queuing up at £8M, but there isn't.

I think this may be an increasing problem for players leaving Man City and Chel$ki plus a few other mega rich clubs around the World, they are on so much money, that the reduction in wages they would have to take to move somewhere else, versus the prospect of playing regularly, will be a very difficult decision. Some players are very happy to sit on the bench, or not even that, to keep taking home the wad of cash each week.

It sounds like Liverpool are starting to be more prudent with wages,(about time) and it would take someone very special to push the boat out on wages, and I don't think Sneijder is the one to do that with. :shake:

:Stop Press: Henderson just scored a scorcher.

Henderon goal, Downing with an assist, we Liverpool fans in dream world?

Corrected that for you since you aren't playing anymore remember.

I've been playing for all of this season:thinking:

Good win today Joe - I think Liverpool like playing Norwich. Wasn't it 5 earlier in the season ?

Yep, but we would most definitely like to play them every week. Everybody played well today in an excellent win. S and S linked up very well too.

I've been playing for all of this season:thinking:

let me remind you of a conversation we had just a few days ago

I stopped playing once I knew you were too far behind to catch up but I just wanted to make sure you weren't running another sneaky hedge team in there :D

Stopped playing? Just taking a look at your team and seeing you still making transfers, you should check someone hasn't hacked your account

Oh Joe

I told you before - that was Hannah

Yeah Norwich seem to be our rollover team, wish we could play them every week, if west brom lose later we'll be 7th.

I actually think if Liverpool have a bit of luck with injuries they could be an outside bet for 4th and certainly 5th.

I know the conversation but it was a conversation we were having about FF at the end of last season

lol!!!

course it was phil.

Thats why I mentioned the fact that you were still making transfers and you should check someone hadn't hacked your account :cuckoo:

You'll be 7th if they draw too I think ?

Still - if West Brom do go above you - it will no longer mean the only teams you've beaten are the teams below you.

It's quite a few points to make up, but we seem to have discovered a bit more of a clinical streak. Henderson has been a revelation for a month now and his goal was top class. Gerrard was also immense today and Lucas looked back to his best.

The irony of that is it was always levelled at us they we couldn't perform against the weaker teams. This year it's been the opposite.

I think you're confusing yourself now Joe

I've been playing all this season.

The banter about me stopping once you'd fallen too far behind was referring to last year when you announced your 'other' team to which I joked that your other team hadn't beaten me but beaten Hannah. It was all a joke but related to the end of last season.

That's the way I read it too.

if you say so bud

wink wink nudge nudge

I agree.

I can see Everton slipping down in which case a bad run from one of Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham could see Liverpool in with a chance for a 5th place finish ahead of one of them. Not sure if two of those three are going to dip enough for a 4th place but you never know.

If Liverpool continue to play like this, then the only way up. :)

The big word is 'if' though. ;)

They should get a lot of confidence from this result, and it is good to see the goals spread about. Can't ask more from Sturridge, and he's not even fully fit yet. :) His dummy for the Suarez goal today was excellent.

Chelsea and Manure wins today please.

I'm hoping for wins from Arsenal and obviously United.

No chance with the ref on Chelsea's payroll.

Foul on us for 1st and Ramirez fell over keeper. Joke.
