Don't want to depress you anymore, but what makes you think the players will just leave those fat contracts.

And they are playing so badly, who would want to buy any of them?

They don't seem to want to extend their Premier League careers, will they suddenly get the fight back in the Championship? I doubt it.

Unless Redknapp can get some sort of spirit and fight into that team, the future looks very bleak imho.

As a Liverpool fan I know how it hard it can be to shift out the rubbish when mistakes have been made in the transfer market, and the players didn't work out, and overpaid those mistakes. :( Apparently Joe Cole wants £3m+ to leave. We can't even give him away. :bonk:

Don't worry, we'll probably sign Cole, I only wish I was joking!

Re some players, hoping they may head off to the US or China or Russia for similar money - we live in hope!

Yesterday was appalling but we have not been that bad since Harry took over. We have enough players with fight, not all but certainly enough. We've also had the issue of Cisse in attack, who is not renowned for hos work rate, but no option B really as Zamora and Johnson have been out for so long. DJ Campbell should be back next week, we may get a loanee in Jan and hopefully Harry will work out our best midfield combo.

Tomorrow is another year, and maybe, just maybe, another escape.

That's better although the bars make no sense till you hover over them

If there was something that showed turnover against those figures then it would be ideal.

Agreed. I can't wait to see the new figures but I heard recently we are now 8th in the wages table so out league position is about right.

We all support different teams but can we agree on a first 11 ?

We did this on another forum and got there in the end despite some banter.

There are some younger folk on here so perhaps limit it to Premier League years and only players that have played in the UK.

Formation 4-4-2

Goal Keeper
Left Back
Right back
Centre half

Centre Midfield

Is this for our own team or all stars?

Is this for our own team or all stars?

Any players from any teams that fit the bill.

Post a full team if you like or just post one player that you think must be included.

Goal Keeper - Schmeichel
Left Back - A Cole
Right back - G Neville (hate to say that though :()
Centre half - Hyypia
Centre half - Terry
Centre Midfield - Keane
Centre Midfield - Gerrard
Left Midfield - Giggs
Right Midfield - Ronaldo
Forward - Shearer
Forward - Henry

I reserve the right to change my mind, having only given this 5 minutes thought. ;)

I'm going to try and remain unbiased here!

Goal Keeper - Schmeichel
Left Back - A Cole
Right back - Rob Jones even though his career was cut short.
Centre half - Tony Adams
Centre half - Sami Hyypia
Centre Midfield - Patrick Vieira
Centre Midfield - Stevie G
Left Midfield - Ryan Giggs
Right Midfield - McManaman
Forward - Shearer
Forward - Fowler

A lot the same as redhead and I must admit I found it tough to leave Matt Le Tissier out so he's on the bench with Bergkamp, Henry, Pallister and Roy Keane!

Now this is a tough one to not get wrapped up with bias, so I'll do my best. Not feeling the 4-4-2 either to be honest, but them's the rules :rules:

GK - Schmeichel
LB - A. Cole
CB - Tony Adams
CB - Vidic/Ferdinand (can't decide)
RB - Lee Dixon
LM - Pires
CM - Lampard (sorry Liverpool fans, but I'll always believe he was and is better than Gerrard!)
CM - Vieira
RM - Ronaldo (if we're allowed to have him as a RM, Beckham if not)
ST - Henry
ST - Shearer

I know a lot of Gunners have found their way into the list, but I've thought hard about each one and honestly believe they're the best in that position. Most were from the invincibles season, which was such an unbelievable achievement I'm tempted to put our starting 11 down :D

I got as far as Schmeichel, Henry, Gerrard and Shearer

Go for something different then

4-4-2
4-5-1
4-3-3
4-2-2-2

whatever floats your boat - Just a bit of fun.

Haha it's ok, I'd only be more inclined to go for the invincibles if I picked a formation that could allow for Henry, bergkamp, pires, vieira and ljunberg :D

Arsenal looking rubbish so far. Sagna has been way off the pace for a few games now. Walcott is drifting to the right (understandable, but ineffective) and we're firing crosses in left right and centre to midgets. The game is crying out for Giroud to come on.

1 schmeichle
2 dixon
3 irwin
4 Pallister
5 Adams
6 Roy Keane
7 Cantona
8 Scholes
9 Fowler
10 Bergkamp
11 Overmars

Sagna was shocking yet again. Cost us yet another goal. He must be dropped for next game otherwise thats weak management.

Dropped for who? Jenkinson is out with injury. Completely agree he's been appalling though!

As yet I'm still unconvinced by a midfield 3 of Arteta, Wilshere and Cazorla. For all their technical craft, they just lack the physical ability to put themselves about in defence as well as turn and drive at the opposition to put them on the back foot. Our game is all too delicate and gently, gently, which was perfectly demonstrated by not introducing Giroud when Walcott had been isolated and ineffective.

We also massively miss the influence of the BFG in defence. His calming, controlling influence makes the world of difference to the back 4.

Formation 4-4-2

I'll give it a go

Goal Keeper - Schmeichel
Left Back - Ashley Cole
Right back - David Bardsley
Centre half - Tony Adams
Centre half - Sol Campbell
Centre Midfield - Viera
Centre Midfield - Scholes
Left Midfield - Ronaldo
Right Midfield - Beckham
Forward - Shearer
Forward - Henry

Reserve, slightly more biased team

Goal Keeper - David Seaman
Left Back - Clive Wilson
Right back - David Bardsley
Centre half - Paul Parker
Centre half - Alan McDonald
Centre Midfield - Ray Wilkins
Centre Midfield - Keane
Left Midfield - Ryan Giggs
Right Midfield - Robert Pires
Forward - Les Ferdinand
Forward - Dennis Bergkamp

Through the middle plenty of choices, out wide far less so left \ right back and on the wings- though perhaps my memory fails me.

How so? The only possible change would be Ronaldo but I'd rather shoot my family dead than choose that arrogant tit. ;)

5 out of your 10 outfield players are Liverpool players - epic failure! ;)

I think we should maybe do this with no players from the team you support in.

I've matched your Rob Jones with David Bardsley (who was better :D).

It's hard isn't it :bonk:

I could probably pick an all together different line up but going a bit forward thinking with a few midfielders.

Schmeichel

Irwin
Stam
Adams
Dixon

Robson
Cantona
Bergkamp
Keane

Henry
Shearer

Didn't realise jenkinson was out. To be honest, I doubt anyone would be as bad as he had been. The way obertan skinned him was a joke.

Robson? As in Stewart Robson?

Bryan Robson? Had to give it a google...I was only 4 or 5 when he left United so can't really comment on his ability

I wonder what he did to deserve Tom Cruise playing him in a film about his life

:shrug::shrug:

Putting my United hat to one side - a fantastic player - One of England's best.

I agree, but I'd still take Gerrard for his range of passing.

Aquilani is way too good for that list, but i can't argue with the rest although you may be missing an Argentinian and Uruguayan from your Man U admissions.

Here's mine and the reasons for each one

1. Rene Higuita (because of the scorpion kick)

2. The Butcher of Bilbao (for being double hard)
3. Tony Adams (for crashing cars and boozing)
4. Elizabeth Lambert (for pulling andy carrolls hair - nobody said it had to be an all mens team)

5. Zidane (for the headbuts when they are needed in case anyone insults my mum)
6. Cantona (to kick annoying fans in the face)
7. Paul Gascoigne (because he'd always make sure there was chicken)
8. Vinnie Jones (for the practical jokes and generally punhcing people who needed to be punched)

9. Paulo de canio (for pushing the ref when he needed it)
10. George Best (for the ales)
11. Maradona (for the food)

Very entertaining, but pay attention, Joe! EPL!

You been on the funny stuff again Dean?.....AA is and was a terrible footballer....those other two you have tried to mention have been proven players and the Argie is still one of my fave UTD players as I, like Fergie, could see his potential and that it was only that some of the other UTD players at the time, were not up to his mastery.

I even had to leave Sean Dundee off the list!

tom, sometimes I think you know nothing at all about football. Aquilani's stats when he played (despite not being fully fit) were excellent. your line about mastery made me giggle though. ;)

Oh, feel free to put Sean on the list - he'd be on mine!
