I'm not pretending to know for certain, but it's highly unlikely a professional football can 'mistime' challenges resulting in dangerous tackles nearly as prolifically as Suarez does. That's enough for me to form my opinion of whether there's intent or not.

like I said above. If it were another footballer doing it. It would be non news. You are only hearing about it and seeing all the animated gifs because it is suarez. There will be plenty of other footballers throughout the leagues that consistently put in bad challenges like this. You just don't hear about them because of their profile.

It's a mountain out of a molehill, but, hey, it sells papers so who cares?

That's ridiculous and shows a complete lack of understanding of the game. Professional footballers are human. Defenders, who you'd think would be able to time more than most, still mistime tackles - some of them regularly. A striker cannot be expected to be as good.

I honestly do think it is a symptom of the way he plays. He gives 100% all the time and flies around the pitch trying to win every ball and do everything so he's bound to screw up occasionally. I think it's dangerous to look at slowed down gifs for any high speed contact sport as it will always look worse out of context.

I haven't read it in a single paper. I've noticed it myself and then someone else brought it up here. No doubt there are lots of other people who snap at the heels of players, but for most of those it's probably the worst part of their game. For Suarez it's one of the lesser things he does.

I do agree some players get an easy time of it. Wellbeck's recent dive, Bale's history of diving etc. don't get discussed as much but that's no excuse for what Suarez does week in and week out.

Jamie, unfortunately your hatred for Suarez clouds your judgement.

reminds me of when mclaren spoke in a duch accent.

Got to have been done as a joke surely

Exactly! According to the report he did it because he thought the French media wouldn't be able to understand scouseish

Sadly I fear it isn't my judgement that is clouded. There is no reason for it be clouded because I hold no bias for or against Liverpool. They're a team in the league I'm completely indifferent too. They have players I respect and admire (Gerrard, Enrique, Reina and Johnson most notably), a few I don't think are up to much and just one that I think is pretty much scum of the Earth in football terms.

I'm not one of these people who hates a player purely because he plays for another team and is pretty decent (the Liverpool attitude towards Ronaldo springs to mind). I don't hate Messi, never had a problem with Ronaldo besides the England match he got Rooney sent off which I quickly forgot about, Drogba's rolling around didn't particularly bother me and actually made me laugh, Scholes' reckless tackles were ugly but the ref usually dealt with them fairly so justice was done in my books, I said from the offset that Shawcross' leg-breaking challenge on Ramsey was an accident despite my dislike for Stokes' game, I don't harbour any ill-feeling towards RVP/Cole/Nasri/Clichy/Fabregas/Adebayor for leaving and I'm sure there's many more examples where I think I'm actually remarkably unbiased for a football supporter.

The fact remains that there is only 1 player in football today which I'd describe myself as "hating' (although, I'd take issue that it's pretty unreasonable to hate a footballer) and that player is Suarez. For all his technical skill and craft, he's completely devoid of any moral fibre. He overtly cheats, fouls and dives his way through games and I perceive for what he actually he does wrong he gets off very lightly from the referee. I actually don't even feel the press gets on his back enough. He has absolutely no respect or decency.

Saurez isn`t a thug, a snide,devious little scrote, but not a thug.

For thuggery look at some of Mr Souness in his pomp,Roy Keane on Inge-Haaland etc etc

Totally agree, it happens week in week out with him.

If a thousand flies say it ******, it probably is. Or maybe 2 people are right and the rest of us wrong.

I will laugh so much if Suarez scores the winner against arsenal this season

You mean this?

Typical Suarez

Last defender but no clear diving opportunity available so no option but to go for goal ;)

Joking aside. I don't think anybody is questioning his ability. I don't think people even get that bothered by dirty players. It seems to be the sly devious manner in which he goes about his antics that people find disgusting.

Based oure talent and skill he would arguably get into any team in the world. He is an amazing player. BUT his attitude, diving and cheating stink.

I have no problem with his goalkeeping in the WC though as most professionals would have done the same.

This attitude you're talking about, does that include never giving up, running and giving 100% for every moment he's on the pitch?

Joking aside, I thinks it just a jealousy thing.

Much as I know how much you'd love that to be the case.

Come to think of it - We'd probably get a couple of decent players in with the £40m he's going to fetch.

I couldn't care less. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just so long as they realise it is just that and not fact, unlike some here seem to believe. :)

Joey Barton never gives up and gives 100% too. Do u like his attitude?

No he doesn't. He's not even in the same league of commitment to the game like suarez, kuyt, tevez, aguero or even wayne rooney god forbid

So what's your problem with Rooney, besides the fact he plays for your more successful rival?

I dislike him, always have.

You talk about players being sly, despicable etc. Rooney is all of the above

A few incidents that I might refer to:

1. The deliberate elbow that could have left a player with brain damage. No debating that one, even from man united fans

2. The prostitutes he cheated on his wife with (forget dodgy tackles, that is real scum, yup others have done so too, I don't like them much either)

3. His reaction when he was a lazy slouch for england and the whole england team performed badly and the crowd who paid hundreds of pounds to watch them quite rightly expressed their displeasure.

4. The way he orchestrated a higher wage by declaring he'd leave his club and the aftermath that followed

and so on and so on. Generally he's just a big fat lump of trash

But I don't have the deluded hate for him you seem to have acquired for suarez. It's just a general dislike

I've always maintained he's a good player and I can see that he puts in a shift.

I don't hate Suarez - I've said that before. I find some of his antics (more the sly way he goes about them) disgusting though.

We're all football fans and are more likely to be 'deluded' by our own players than we are to be 'deluded' by players of other clubs we're not bothered about.

Everybody thinks Suarez is a good player regardless of who we support.

Everybody thinks his antics are disgusting regardless of who we support - apart from Liverpool supporters.

'The clues are there' as they say.

That's not true at all. I agree that there are unsavoury aspects of his game. I can't and will never condone biting - it's barbaric - and deliberately injuring players. I see no absolute evidence that he does this deliberately with his tackling.

BTW, having properly reviewed the Evra incident I am prepared to accept that he wasn't Mr Goody Two Shoes there either, but it far from conclusive. I'm not trying to reopen that, btw, either.

This is incorrect.

Liverpool supporters think the disgusting antics are disgusting. Biting and the last tackle above for example. There's just fewer of them than you lot make out, in our opinion

The rest of the stuff is just the media bigging it all up, and everyone following suit.

Funny that the 2 incidents you refer to happened when he wasn't a Liverpool player......but now he is with The Cult, most of his challenges now are just 'mis-timed' or merely 'accidents'.

Like I said I don't hate any footballer. I don't even think I could say that I hate any of the thousands upon thousands of people I must have actually met in my life, so I'm certainly not going to direct such a strong emotion towards someone who kicks a ball about on some grass and that I only know from the tele.

We spend too much time talking about the bad side of football. Can we not marvel at the podolski volley from giroud's scoop chip against montpelier, Mexes' and Ibra's bicycle kicks and all the other incredible feats of human athleticism and skill that we're lucky enough to see every week? Football tends to get bogged down in the negativity and bitter rivalry, for which I'm as guilty as anyone, but it can really detract from the game itself.
