Maradonna - great player but a cheat on numerous occasion's
Cantona - great player and rightly deserved his ban for attacking a fan
Zidanne - great player until that head butt which did tarnish his image

But NONE of them have the history and attitude that Suarez has.

Who did a worse challenge than that on Sunday? Maybe Suarez when he stamped on Mirallas? Does that count?

You're responses above regards supporting Suarez's actions are typical of red-tinted glass wearing Kopites!! And nice to see the old conspiracy claims come through; it wasn't us...it was Chelsea; Fergie has the FA in his pocket and turns them against us; All referees don't like us; we never get a decision from them.....:bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

To be honest I have gone off football anyway especially at the higher levels. There is far too much dishonesty and cheating. Watch a game of Div2/conference football and the attitude of players is completely different. It is hard fought but the players don't make the most of fouls and there is much less diving. Admittedly the quality isn't always that great!

I would much rather watch rugby of either code where at least there is respect for officials and other players - what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. That is for another thread I feel! I don't deny that cheating happens but in general it is part of the game and is dealt with by sin-binning players who persistently infringe or who prevent a scoring opportunity. I do feel that it is now ridiculous in football where you can't face up to anyone, have a push and shove and get some of the frustration out. Players now end up getting wound up and diving in on players with potentially career threatening challenges. It really annoys me when commentators say 'he raised his hands and deserved the red card'.

Anyway I shall stop my rant now - I feel I have gone rather off subject. Sorry :shrug:
 
I'm not a fan of either of those 3 players but they're incomparable to Suarez. Firstly none of them have done as many horrible things as Suarez, and secondly they're all vastly better footballers than Suarez will ever be, as good as he is.
 
I'll not catch the Chelsea v United game tonight but hoping for a few changes.

I'd like to see Vermijl, Wootton & Keane get a game and perhaps Smalling return from injury.

Although he has beaten Norwich City twice on his own on their last 2 visits to Carrow Road I still love him! Yeah his attitude and diving is bad but as a footballer his is superb! His dive infront of moyes was so funny!
 
I hate him. I despise he way he dives and cheats and he only has himself to blame for not winning pens.

In his defence, I see nothing wrong with what he did at the world cup. Virtually every other player would do the same in a world cup semi. Yes it is cheating but then so is a professional foul.

But you can't blame him, it's the FA whoare too spineless to ban divers. Racist, I don't know? Maybe it was a cultural thing, he did it, was punished, move on. If he doesn't do it again then put it down as a 1 off.

They, as a collective, believe that the FA/Premiership favour United, Chelsea & Arsenal over Liverpool. They even believe that Fergie is responsible for decisions made against them. It truly is comical. And it's only going to get worse & a lot more bitter the longer they remain out of the "Top 4" and not playing in the Champs league. Their stature as the #1 team in England is no longer true and they don't know how to cope, so lashing out at everyone is their only option now.
 
Can't stand him, and that's not because I'm an Evertonian. You can also add Patrice Evra, Carlos Tevez and John Terry to the list.

Playing for Liverpool doesn't make me hate, him being a knob does - I respect the likes of the Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen, and they probably caused more damage to Everton playing for Liverpool on the pitch than Suarez ever has.

suarez is awesome and it's even better that so many other dislike him because when he scores or wins the game for you it makes it even more enjoyable to see the disgust in the other teams fans that he was the one who did it.

hoping that chelsea lead man u 4-0 so I can put another fiver on and win when they comeback like yesterday

If Liverpool go down 4-0 though I don't know that I'll be quite as confident lol

And even more enjoyable for the opposing fans when a perfectly good last minute winner is disallowed just because the linesman doesn't like Suarez.

The're taking this seriously looking at their team/bench - maybe this time Liverpool won't get a Championship team in the final :naughty:

I'm looking forward to seeing how Henderson plays at right back tonight. Samid Yesil is a young player who intrigues me too. Very highly rated by the Germans.

Not even more enjoyable. Not even close.

The fury on the opposition when he wins a game is well worth the times when he doesn't.
 
Late pen for Chelsea - only one winner now with the players they have on the pitch. I've got to go out now so was hoping for no extra time.
 
Haha football is mad at the moment. Late come back for Liverpool could be on the cards. Norwich snatch victory from behind against spurs and Man U taken to extra time by Chelsea. Great for us that they have to play 120 minutes as well!
 
Good to see manure lose and out, makes us losing and getting kicked out easier to take. Mind you I'm not sure either set of fans will be that bothered.

Much better refereed than Sundays game and therefore a better result in the end

The way the Liverpool game went it was always going to either end 2-2 or 1-3. Unfortunately it was the latter

The league cup provided a major surprise today as Chelsea came back to see off Manchester United in extra time. The other 2 games provided less surprise as both Norwich and Swansea saw off their weaker opposition as expected.
