Thought Hearts put up a much better show than last year, unlucky to concede the own goal in the manner they did, nothing special from Liverpool imo.

All I'm going to say that so far the football in Scotland (league and Europe) has been of better quality than last year. This is despite Rangers going into Div 3 and our Chief Executive of the SFA predicting 'Football Armageddon' as a result.

Maybe all the teams just got worse and therefore it looks a better standard - Liverpool are no gauge any more!

Hearts v Liverpool was a funny fixture.

Liverpool obviously had their eye on the Man City game so team selection reflected that. They wouldn't admit to it but even a defeat tonight probably wouldn't have been a problem with the 2nd leg at Anfield.

That said this Hearts team has lost a few decent players since getting gubbed 0:5 by Tottenham last season.

Hearts were the only team in all competitions to keep a clean sheet at White Hart Lane last year or so I was told.

LOL

I wonder how long it took for the belly ache feeling.

hearts were crap. Liverpool were a bit less crap. The europa league is beyond crap. The end.

I can understand that from Liverpool's point of view based on what they want to be doing but I think it's a bit unfair to label Heart's a 'bit less crap'.

That was a big game for Hearts and they did pretty well all things considered albeit against a less than full strength Liverpool team.

Anyway - what do you think of Liverpool getting slated for the Clint Dempsey situation ?

By all accounts LFC more than sounded him out and he responded in kind - then they backed off and left him out of favour so they can go back in for a player that has no future at the club.

Naughty naughty - like it doesn't happen elsewhere

I didn't say hearts were "a bit less crap" that was Liverpool. Hearts were referred to as simply "crap".

You know me. I hold the Europa league with disdain so I have a scarred view.

As for Dempsey, who knows the real story, journo's will write what they write. Hopefully he'll come this way though. He's a good player.

Sahin on the brink of signing with Arsenal on loan. Apparently the personal touch of a call from Wenger snatched him away from a deal with Liverpool. Mourinho still wants him at Liverpool but Sahin would much rather Arsenal.

Sounding like arsenal have lost out on this now and sahin will be wearing a Liverpool jersey.

Too right. Liverpool came in with a new offer of a £5m loan fee and no right to buy at the end of the loan period. That blew Arsenal's agreement of £2m and a right to buy out of the water. Arsenal would have been mad to match such frivolous spending on a year long loan!

And this is based on what reported facts?

Bloody hell, mate, the Metro?? That is not a fact now is it?

Lol, a little bit defensive ;)

Believe it or not the Metro is quite reasonable for sport news, unless you just don't like what you read of course!

I'm not defensive, mate. I just don't see that as a reliable source of facts. I think it is highly unlikely we'd pay 5 mill for a year loan. :)

But you will pay £35mill for a player that does not play.......

Tommy boy, that is a ridiculous argument and you well know it. The amount we paid for Carroll (who would have played last night if fit) was linked directly to the ludicrous sum Chelsea paid for Torres - if Torres had gone for 30m Carroll would have cost 15m. It was the last day of the window and a panic buy as much as anything.

or maybe the £35m for Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson
:D

Sahin is a good player Joe - looks like he's coming your way on loan ?

Based on what I heard on the radio:

Jose Mourinho is happy for Nuri Sahin to develop under Brendan Rodgers because he's aware of his methods from their time at Chelsea.

Unlike other clubs that have showed an interest in Sahin - Liverpool are prepared to take him without an option to buy and are not competing against Real in the Champions League.

I posted about Sahin a week or so ago - thought this was all sorted with Liverpool ?

I'm sure Mourinho has since said something about him not going to any club competing in the Champions League which rules out Arsenal.

I read somewhere that tomorrow is Man Utd's first Saturday match since United v Liverpool back in Feb and the first 3:00pm kick off since Jan.

Johnson to Sunderland - think he'll do well there under O'Neill. Would like to see him have a run of games, I think he could be England class but certainly not getting enough games at City.

A steal, i rate him and shocked he did not go to a better club, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs are crying out for someone decent like that - maybe chelsea too??

Good player and I can see him having more of a Key role at Sunderland than some of the other clubs mentioned. Hopefully it's a move that will benefit England.

I'm gutted we didn't get him. A much better risk than a loan player we don't have an option to buy.

Tommy, I thought Agger was signing for City yesterday? ;)

No it's today you see. And then tomorrow it will also be today. And then in years to come each day will be today. Eventually it's will be another club too as it's not just Manchester city it's anywhere that is a city.

Joe, are you suggesting Tommy is not providing genuine inside knowledge?

I'm surprised a 'bigger' team did not go for him as well - maybe he wanted to play for O'Neill and get virtually guaranteed first team football as Dinners says after being on the fringes and stagnating at City.

He's said as much in the press today, I think.

If that is true it's nuts.
