Good stuff Dean - Fulham to go down, interesting!

Anyone else you have until 2.59pm today, I'll then collate everything later tonight or tomorrow dependent on post match celebrations\ despair. :)

So far I think I have the predictions from:

Tiler
JoeScrivens
The 23rdman
Dinners
Akr

If I've missed anyone let me know.

Still time for late entries!

Fulham have lost or are going to lose some seriously influential players so I thought it worth a punt. Nobody remembers you if you get a 1-0 correct. ;)

Slightly relieved that Sunderland game is over; they've become brilliant at closing out the way we like to play and Cuellar had a blinder. I do hate to see a team park the bus and not make a game of it, though they did what they had to of course. At the point Giroud came on (the latest stats I've seen from FourForTwo @statszone) we had 70% possession, 17 shots to 4 and 507 passes completed to 178. Our dominance can only have grown in the closing stages too. Quite a frustrating first game but plenty of positives and at least it's a point.

Big loss for Liverpool, very surprised by that and a few other results today!

Wishing I hadn't taken Michu out of my team in favour of Riise at the last minute though :(

Liverpool just like last season. Dominated the first half, waste a hat full of chances and then lose. Long way to go though.

On the downside: we lost 5-0 at home on the opening day to a team I think will struggle this season. I was concerned about Green before, and am more so now. Our defense was abysmal, and that's an insult to the word abysmal. Second half we looked like a pub team, an absolutely pitiful display. Our tactics were completely wrong and we did not change them at any point. Work on Monday I will be destroyed. :gag:

On the plus side: last year we lost 4-0 at home on the opening day to a team that was then relegated. First time I saw our last keeper (Kenny) he had a shaky start and then turned out to be excellent. Mark Hughes has normally got his tactics right, him and the team probably had an off day all round. First half we should have been level, at least and were only behind due to a keeping error. We are level on points with Liverpool and one behind Arsenal! :D

Looks like we have peaked too early! Can't wait to see the fulham goals tonight.

Just catching up on today's scores. A few interesting results to say the least.

just caught the scores as shot a wedding with Dav today.

Another brilliant result for liverpool, losing again to WBA!

Well, if there was any doubt that Wenger has lost the plot its now! Reading today that he will not be investing the RVP money - and that the purchases have already been made! So what if RVP had stayed, then what? Too many players? No guarantee he would go. So now we only have 2 strikers of prem quality, both of which are not guaranteed to succeed. The likes of Park and Bendnter are not up to mark, unless your target is 17th in the league!

He then spots on about not affording wages for RVP - no, it was because he wants to win something!!! Walcott may leave too as still no new contract, so what does that send out to all the other players? We are simply a springboard.

And to cap it all, a 0-0 draw at home to the mighty Sunderland.

I think Wenger was resigned to loosing RVP before he brought players in.

Certainly from what I've read - the sale of RVP was all about recouping the money

He said he won't be using the money to bring in another striker, not that it won't get used at all. We may 'only' have 2 top quality strikers but last year we only had 1 in RVP. 1 out and 2 in sounds good to me. Again, you're targeting Wenger for blame with something that his beyond his control. Don't get me wrong, I'm not delighted by the situation with players leaving - although I'm far more optimistic this season than last - but I also realise that Wenger is the sole reason we're still remaining competitive. Kroenke, Gazidis and other board members should be the target of your feelings, not Wenger.

Not to mention that Wenger has a perfect poker face and claimed not to know who Cazorla was 2 weeks before we signed him. I'd withhold judgement until the 1st of September, when we actually know who's come and gone :)

Glad the Toon got 3 points against Spurs, and a cracking goal by Demba Ba. And i hope Tiote saw Arsenal and Wengers performance, and stays put if they come calling.

Liverpool just a blip or sign of things to come.?

Too early to say. LFC do have to stop being so wasteful though or this will continue.

Everton have signed Mirallas for £6m...big signing for them. They should be strong this season with their current squad.

Looks like United may be starting the season with Carrick and Valencia in defence alongside Vidic and Evra. Ho Hum.

Rio Ferdinand (groin strain) is reportedly set to miss Monday’s trip to Goodison Park and will be out of action for a lengthier period if the initial fears of a month-long absence turn out to be anywhere near accurate.

Chris Smalling is sidelined until mid-October following surgery on a broken metatarsal, while Phil Jones has been told to rest for a month after being troubled by back spasms. Johnny Evans, the Northern Ireland centre-half, is the closest to making a playing return, but he has yet to play this summer following ankle surgery at the end of last season.

£24m on a striker and you don't even have 4 defenders to start :naughty:

*waiting to eat my words when we next play you*

I know - we seem to have continual defensive problems :bonk:

I thought the interest in Leighton Baines made sense.

Aguero taken off on a stretcher injured after just 13 minutes. Well that's going to scupper my fantasy team!

It looks like Buttner is on his way to give Evra some much needed competition at old Trafford.

Alexander Büttner - don't really know anything about him to be honest.

From Wiki

On 7 May 2012, Büttner was named in the provisional list of 36 players for the Euro 2012 tournament, one of nine uncapped players to be chosen by Netherlands manager Bert van Marwijk as part of the preliminary squad.

On 6 July, Vitesse agreed a fee with Southampton over the transfer of Büttner to the Premier League club, subject to a medical. The proposed move to Southampton was subsequently halted "due to an unspecified 'demand' from an unnamed third party"; this is believed to be a claim for a percentage of the transfer fee. Despite the Southampton-deal falling through, Buttner would still be moving to the Premier League. On August 19, 2012, it was announced that Buttner is set for a transfer to Manchester United, pending a medical.

...And you call yourself an Arsenal fan :bonk:

They've made 3 very good signings. RVP was always going to go - Arsene knew that, hence the early summer purchases. And when asked if these are RVP replacements (when RVP is still at the club) of course he's not going to say yes! What sprt of message would that have sent out?!

The reputation of Arsenal being a selling club is something they will want to shake off, but if players (Song, RVP) want to leave - then what do you suggest he does? He has to sell and then find replacements. An unhappy player in the squad can be detrimental - I'm thinking Anelka.

RVP on the bench as expected. Looking forward to Kagawa but concerned about Carrick in defence. Hoping for a good game though as is often the case v Everton.

Should be an exciting game. I'm expecting United to kick the season off with purpose and they have a great track record against Everton....bar the 4-4 draw last time they met!

Oh don't remind me lol

What an utter embarrassment! And we had more goal attempts than them!

Long time R's supporter here, used to be season ticket holder in the upper Loft but I just go to the odd game with my son nowadays, inclding Saturday's fiasco.

Were you at the game? I thought it was terrible and yup, a real embarrassment. I hope Hughes can sort this lot out ...and quickly. I cant figure out why the hell he let Kenny go though, he was the best goaly we've had for years! Green looked shambolic, although to be fair he didn't have much help from the defence!

No, unfortunately I have been to Loftus Rad for many years. I used to work in Westbourne Park and used to finish at 2pm on Saturdays. Regularly went to watch them in the Alan MacDonald era, happy days.

I don't think Kenny had a particularly good season last year and, given his tweets after Saturday's game, he's gone right down in my estimation. I think Green will come good and he wasn't the only o-ne to make mistakes over the weekend. Ben Foster, a keeper many QPR fans wanted, dropped the ball in the 6 yard box and it was only because Suarez was having a "couldn't hit a barn door" day that Liverpool didn't score. I'm still hoping Green will come good, we shall see.
