my bad. I knew it was a striker who played for arsenal at some point then went onto bigger and better things.. i just got the name wrong :D
 
I see the Police have dropped the Clattenburg case......what does this mean for Chelsea now?

Well it seems that nobody had any evidence to offer anyway.

Neither Mikel nor the club have been to the police, and in the absence of any evidence the investigation is no longer active.

A statement from the Met read: "Enquires were made and no victims have come forward.

"The matter will remain as a recorded incident, but without a victim and/or any evidence that any offence has been committed, the matter cannot currently be investigated.
 
Not the greatest result for clattenburg. He'd have wanted the investigation to go ahead and result in innocent. Now he'll have to carry around accusations with him that were not fully investigated. There will be stigma attached that he won't be able to shed

If the FA had any balls they would punish Chelsea severely for this. Either long bans for players involved or points dock.

I would have thought they could get sanctions for this if Clattenburg decided to sue them and should a court rule that Chelsea even went public with allegations that were fatuous then they could be hit for damages. It's the same old issue of making sweeping public complaints and having nothing better to offer. I suspect the FA will do zip as they probably wouldn't be able to prove they'd made it up.

What would they be punishing them for exactly? The fa investigation is still ongoing, it's the police that is not. The two investigations have nothing to do with each other, as we saw with the terry affair.

So long as the people involved abide by the fa investigation rules then there can't be an issue for the fa to do anything about.

This.

An FA investigation and a police investigation are two very different things, and only the police investigation has stopped.

Ok, but it seems there is no evidence on offer here. Unlike terry where there was clear evidence something took place (but what exactly did needed to be proved). Assuming the FA come to the same conclusion then they need to punish Chelsea.
 
Actually, based on the last 4-6 weeks revelations, maybe we will suddenly get hit with accusations of how refs in the 60s and 70s were racist, but who are now dead so cannot defend allegations!

The difference is that the players involved with making the complaint are talking to the FA, but haven't made a statement to the police, which means the police have nothing to proceed with.

Clearly they feel this is an FA, football matter, and not one they wish for the police to be involved in.

(not saying I agree with anything they're doing, just explaining the difference between the FA and police involvement)

I thought it was Chelsea FC who made the complaint - not the players. (after a 3rd party - society for black lawyers, got involved)

This is one of the reasons why the police have 'suspended' investigations because no witness will come forward.

chelsea made the complaint to the FA and the Society of Black Lawyers made the complaint to the police.

Chelsea and the FA obviously want it kept in house and not involve a criminal investigation so they all stayed out of it.

The Society of Black Lawyers are now angry as they don't feel the FA can handle race crime incidents. Which is ironic actually given that Terry was exonerated in court and found guilty by the FA.

That's pretty much my understanding of it however it does beg the question - why complain to the FA but then keep tight lipped to the Police.

It's understandable that the SOBL are angry. Again their view would be why if Chelsea had grounds to complain to the FA then it's grounds for providing evidence to the Police.

I'd be tempted to think that the view has been taken - whatever has gone to the FA would not stand up in court.

I guess the FA could still do the same as they did with Terry then.

Terry was exonerated in a court of law because (despite the judge saying his defence was a joke) he was found not guilty. Clattenburg will also be not guilty in a court of law due to no case taking place.

Either way then, I guess the FA will simply act on whatever evidence they have regadless of the court of law.

That's an easy one sherlock. The FA and Chelsea have had a hell of a lot of bad press of late with regard to racism so they want to keep things internal. It's been messy.

What a goal from Ibra. I hate the guy's arrogance and lack of loyalty but what a player, I was actually willing it in when he had the audacity to try it.

Shawcross is never international standard, I have no idea why he got a call up.

Watched the Scotland game (quick review.....it crushed my soul and sapped the life out of me) but stayed to the end.

Flicked over to ITV once I found the remote just it time to see Ibra's 4th goal. Wow just to have the guts to try that was amazing, thing is though....every amateur player is going to attempt that this weekend, I can see the local casualty departments getting a bit busy.
 
Everyone is going on about that fourth goal but to be fair that was just a stab in the dark, it was his second goal that was the best, perfect chest and volley.

Agree to a point but he knew what he was doing and has the skill to do it. I dislike the way 30yard goals are lauded so often. Yes there is some skill but often it's just a punt. Give me 20 balls and I could probably plant one in top corner from 30 yards. But goals like rooneys overhead v city, or Rvp against Everton and someone else last year I could never do. Same with his 4th.
 
What did I miss then ?

My parents are visiting so I couldn't watch the game although I've just found out the score.

Rooney's came off his shin and could have gone anywhere. I've never understood why that got so much credit. Coates scored a better overhead kick for Liverpool!
 
Suarez to Chelsea is more likely. Liverpool using the City angle as a way to raise the price. Suarez is too similar to Aguerro & Tevez, and I can't see City getting rid of either of them too soon.
