Yes
hi all - LR5 issue and yes, I've deleted the plist files and restarted the Mac, closed LR when deleting, set it up as a new catalogue, in my mind, I've tried everything.

Anyone else have the same issue and got it resolved? Anytime this happened to me in the past, deleting the plist in preferences has solved the problem.

May not be a plist problem. Can you open the files in another app, say iPhoto ?. The only time I've had that message is when the files are corrupt or the card has become unreadable. If iPhoto will read the files then try importing them that way and the persuade Lightroom to import them from that location.
Also try another method of importing. Are you using a card reader or the inbuilt SD card reader on the Mac ( assuming it's an SD card.) Try a direct camera connection via the USB port on the camera

CS6 has no problem importing from the same card. I've also tried multiple SD cards. Just been using the standard method of open LR and hit import and use the SD as the source.

This keeps happening every 4 or 5 months, very frustrating.

I'll try the cable thanks for the tip.

If anyone else has encountered this your help would be much appreciated. I don't think the card has corruption issues.

Hi just a few simple points

do you reformat the card every time you use it

if it is only "once in a while" just copy the files to your desk top then import them into LR

I don't format it as much as I should.

I've tried moving them to desktop and importing that's why I don't believe it's a formatting issue.

I installed an SSD drive last weekend however it was working normally afterwards for several days.

Is this problem with one card or several. If its just one card then I would suspect something with the card. I personally format cards rather then delete the images. This provides a very low level check on the card plus resets all the file links. I've also noticed that on rare occasions the inbuilt SD card reader on my iMac has difficulty in reading the odd card. basically refuses to acknowledge it's there. Fine on an external Lexar card reader. It may simply be bad contacts. Although not had the problem for some time. I can't see the SSD being the problem. If it was you'd have more problems than just the off card read error

Just to support what was said above

1). I found the external (cheap) card readers unreliable - hit and miss if you like

2). Occasional the card reader on my MBP will not read the odd card

3). Never had a problem with the highly recommended Lexar card reader

4). I always format the SD or CF cards in the camera every time I put them back in the camera

5). Presumably cards can wear out gradually

Good luck

Numerous SD cards. It's a LR issue or a catalogue issue, I just can't figure out what yet.
