I think it’s the photographer mate! Why is this wee camera so good for boring photos

Yeah I've been comparing the Fujifilm built in recipes to the RNI film Sims and I really dig the RNI stuff.I think it’s the photographer mate!
I assume these are edited RAWs rather than film sims SooC?
Not heard of the RNI ones; yeah would definitely be interested in seeing a comparison!Yeah I've been comparing the Fujifilm built in recipes to the RNI film Sims and I really dig the RNI stuff.

Lemme know if you wanna see side by side comparisons, I've got a link with a few.
Not done too many yet but hopefully it shows a little of what they achieve. Not heard of the RNI ones; yeah would definitely be interested in seeing a comparison!
Yes. And that’s really disappointing.
I managed to have a play with some RNI presets before - some were okay but, as an example, I found the Portra one to be nothing like other Portra ones [or vice versa I guess]
I have no idea if they accurately portray film or not, I just sort of ended up with a bunch of favourites I liked and use them sometimes as a base before doing a little colour grading on top. They are great at subduing the colours whilst retaining a richness.
I shot a roll of Portrait last year, and was honestly astonished at how good it is. It’s almost too good - how close it was to a clean digital image was remarkable. That fine grain though - you just can’t emulate it. Lovely stuffI've shot a bit of Portra film on 35mm & 120, and none of them really look like Portra tbh
But, as you say, as long as they give you a base look to start off with & get you 90% to the end product you want it's all good. I started off like that [I edited the same style for years!], then ended up with too many and I have only recently knocked them all back & started afresh with minimal options.
Thank you very muchThat's a cracker Glen.
Took the X-T5 as my second camera while at Cranfield taking a few images of the English Electric Lightning XS458

"Excellent" aviation style capture Glen, pushes all the right buttons for me.
What a lovely image. Love the lighting and processing.
I have a question and I feel it's probably obvious and something I should already know, so go easy!
I've started looking more into custom film sims recently, if a film sim requires a custom white balance and I shoot in RAW and JPEG, what effect does the custom white balance have on the raw file, any?
What a lovely image. Love the lighting and processing.

I prefer No 2. as I like the contrast between the blue building and the chapel.

I went back to Nikon with a pair of Z9's and a Zf...kept my X100 vi though!Well its the end of my Fuji journey after 12 years, from the X-Pro1 through various models to the X-T4, and tbh I have enjoyed every minute, but all good things come to an end.
After buying a D700 again the Nikon boy in me has given in to temptation and I have bought a Nikon ZF, which is really nice and will fit my style and my photography.
I will probably buy a couple of Z lenses, but will also go down the Viltrox route as I've had a few with the Fuji's and they are excellent value for money for the performance.
I say the end, but I do miss my X100S as a travel camera, and when things settle down I may well get another X100 model down the line.

Ricoh GR is THE pocketable camera but there are reports of the GR4 freezing and having issues with the lens not retracting when switched off.Any recommendations for a small, pocketable camera? Fuji or otherwise? Leaning towards the Ricoh GR4 but not sure if I'm missing anything. My XH2 is sometimes a bit big to take.
