The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Yeah, it makes sense why you carry it all. I can easily be in the same frame of mind for sure sometimes.

At Oulton I park on the infield, and use the car as a camera bag, just taking what I need for what I'm doing, at Donington I wont have that luxury, car is likely to be parked quite a way away - though if I'm not in a film mood, I'll leave the GM670 in the car

As most of you know, a lot of my photography is done with the 100-400 plus 1.4TC. Yesterday I sat in the garden without the 1.4. I can see that it produces better images on it's own, so now I'm considering moving it on and getting the 150-600.....

Steve, the 150-600 is very nice, it’s lighter than it looks and the AF seems very snappy - I don’t think you’d be disappointed

That’s right. It’s a super lens. Also don’t forget internal zoom. Balances very well at all focal lengths.

Has anyone had experience of Viltrox out of warranty repair costs ?
Trying to work out if it is worth sending my 33/1.4 in for repair, it’s stopped auto focusing.
Tried a software update and cleaned the contacts, but to no avail. Same happening of both my cameras
Contacted Viltrox and they don’t offer a repair service in the UK.
Had a bit of a fiddle, took the mounting plate off and made sure the connections were all secure and at the moment it is working

Enjoy Scotland… yes, I recently bought that lens but have hardly used any of my Fuji system since buying an iconic Nikon D700 body along with a few lenses…
I used my D700 from 2008 to 2015. I sold it because with the battery grip and 80-200 f2.8 it was getting too heavy for my wrists. I enjoy using my X-H1's, but the D700 will always be my favourite camera.

Probably my favourite camera too. But more than happy with my T5.

I’m deliberately not going to use an extra battery grip and keep it as simple and light as possible.

The colour output is simply fabulous…..unfortunately I’ve not looked at my Fuji gear since buying the D700.

Made a bit of an impulse decision and picked up an X-T5 to upgrade from the X-S10 as I decided moving to the X-S20 didn't make sense.
What a camera! Now I just have to learn how to actually shoot properly.

I've been trying to get 16-55mm f/2.8 mkii lens but everywhere is OOS. Anyone know if this is just a general shortage?

Anyway, a couple of Dunnocks for ya....

I popped over to Chelmsford this morning, hoping to see the VE day flypast. Mission accomplished, I had a pretty good view of nearly everything... of 148 shots, I've kept 24 of them... and just noticed that I exported them all at 75% quality :headbang:

Final Day of Donington Historic Festival, the Ferraris are out again, I know I can get a better shot, slightly different location, fortuantely the ever reliable Ferrari No60 Car gave flames on the over-run into Redgate Corner on most laps, so lots of panning, high burst rate stuff, a few usable shots, pleased with this one though

Thinking about 23mm and/or 35mm primes…has the Viltrox stuff really knocked Fuji’s f2 lenses off the top spot? I must admit I love the vintagey look of the f2 lenses with the thinner end; but that’s probably not a good enough reason to buy them if the Viltrox is faster, better and cheaper…

Time to put my camera away for the day. I've just spent a good few minutes cleaning and re-cleaning my sensor because of some spots that I *could not* get rid of...

...then I realised that I had a polariser on. Oddly enough, when I tried again nearly all the spots had gone! :withstupid:

I use a Fuji XF 35mm f2 WR and a Viltrox 56 f1.7 on my x-pro2.
The Viltrox is faster but I don't see a major difference for my street work and of course it lacks the aperture ring, and it doesn't have the 'substance' & style of the Fuji 35.
One thing that was mentioned by someone previously is that Viltrox has no service point in the UK.

I’ve got the Viltrox 33 f1.4 which is probably my most used lens. It’s very sharp, focuses quickly and does everything it should

So I’ve put it up for sale as it’s quite large on a small body. Oh, and I fancy the Fuji 35 f1.4

Anyone else keep accidentally moving the focus selector switch? :headbang:

No, but I do tend to forget what setting it's on now and then. Missed enough shots when I'd left it on manual.

Have the Fuji 23 1.4 version 1 which was permanently attached to the camera until the 16-55 took over as my goto lens. Then the Viltrox 27 1.2 was released which is large but incredibly sharp. Since then I have added the 25 1.7 and 56 1.7 air models, once again incredibly sharp little lenses that weigh nothing and cheap as chips.

I have the 56 1.7 as well and I really like it. I haven't had a bad Viltrox lens (although I have sold a few, but only because they weren't being used).

Here's one that I did export at full quality from the flypast yesterday. Inspired by a couple of posts on here from Topsy, and also a James Popsys video, I've been experimenting with the X-Pan crop. I really like it, and it was very suitable for yesterday's planes.

X-T4 and XF 100-400mm.
