I'm off to Scotland for the day tomorrow for work, so I've put the (still amazingly tiny) Viltrox 28mm F /4.5 on my camera and popped it in a pocket of my laptop bag.
I can't remember who it was that bought the same lens around the same time as me... possibly @macvisual.
Have you had a chance to use it much?

Enjoy Scotland… yes, I recently bought that lens but have hardly used any of my Fuji system since buying an iconic Nikon D700 body along with a few lenses…

Anyone else use Film Simulation bracketing?

I quite often use it, would love it if they did custom setting bracketing as well.
In my xe1 it’s set to standard, velvia and a black and white one.
On the the xt50. Classic chrome, black and white and at the moment can’t think of the 3rd one

I've been trying it and looks a useful option, I've dialled in Astia Soft, Velvia Vivid & Monochrome.

Really enjoying this series of photos. What does the post processing look like for these?
Thank you. It's my current 2025 project, where each year I produce a small book to raise funds for a charity I support. Lots of locations to visit yet!

There is very little processing for these; for the first just a crop & for the second correct perspective a little, a small amount of contrast, vignette & a crop. I'm not a fan of 3x2 especially for verticals & much prefer 3x4 or square

The light inside the Metropolitain Cathedral in Liverpool is stunning, for such an asture building on the outside, it takes your breath away when you enter it, and beacuse the light is driven by the sun, it varies so much with time of day and season. An amazing building, I haven't been for a year or so, must re-visit. Really interested to see where this 2025 project goes.

And I agree with you about vertical 3:2, 99% of the time this is just wrong! Much prefer a 4x3 or a 5x4 with teh latter being my preference.

A photo I took on Lanzarote with the X-T100 and the 15-45 mm. A fine combination for travelling and surprisingly good.
It also fell out of my hands from waist height onto a massive slab of volcanic rock. The polarising filter had a crack and the body had a slight dent, but everything still worked, except the polarising filter when shooting against the sun. :)

The photo is on Flickr today in the Explore Takeover on the topic: The Four Elements - Earth, Water, Air, and Fire!
Even if the fire is no longer visible, it was there when the volcano poured out the lava.

I needed a tripod in HK to take some long exposure...went to a district where they sell cameras (new and old) and had a very good experience talking to a shop owner, trying out a few little tripods, nothing big brand, lots of Chinese stuff, not an experience you can get in the UK. Just wanted something compact and made of metal in the right places.

£20. I didn't even haggle, just paid the guy.

(took these with my XS-10 with the new Viltrox 27/1.2, what a lens!)

Compare to my other table top tripods.

That looks pretty neat

That looks pretty neat

They had another pair of legs that extended a little but the mechanism was plastic in the extension. I think this one as is, is pretty neat, it only require to give the body to put on a platform with stability, raising it 2 more inches is least of my problems, if I had needed more height then I would use the Gitzo.

I kind of miss this in person shopping experience, rather than doing hours of research online, i did this in the space of 10mins. There is no way I would have ended up with this in the UK/online because nobody would have review these legs or ballhead, certainly not together.

I envy those who have nearby woods with clean forest floors and perfect trees or maybe I am just bored of that subject and moved on :)
lol. The woods near me are the same, full of loads of nettles and blue bells in amongst them.
I took the xe1 out last Saturday and hadn’t noticed I had knock the iso down to its lowest and the shutter speed had dropped to about 1/10 and didn’t have my glasses with me to check the settings lol.
School boy error.
I only found out yesterday that there are two main types as well English (the protected) ones and Spanish which are an evasive one

Just about a month in with the X-T50 now

Something about the photos don't click as much as my X-T20 output. Not sure why; there's no reason for it. Just getting used to it I suppose. Very much enjoying the quality of life improvements and the internal zoom on the new 16-50mm is incredibly cool

Has anyone else changed the acr/LR presets from Adobe colour?
I now have everything going from my T5 to pro neg std (but could use any of the choices).

There are probably a couple of reasons for this

1) Above about ISO200 the dynamic range of an X-Trans5 sensor is slightly less than that of an X-Trans3 sensor, so getting decent (correct) exposure will help, and maybe your post production needs a littel tweak to give the images that sparkle back.

2) The increased MP count is likely to be having an effect on older Fuji glass, the newer lenses will resolve the full resolution, but older glass might not, thats not to say that it will create a bad image, its just maybe lost a bit of edge sharpness.

3) There are quite a few people on the internet who reckon that as X-Trans has been developed, the sensors give a flatter output, again Post-Production should be able to bring these images back to the imapact that you expect.

There was a lot right with the very early X-Trans sensors (1/2) with respect to tonality and colour rendition, and I belive that as X-Trans has developed, that you have to work harder in post-production to get the results that you want, that said once you have found a post production routine you can get excellent results.

But with the newer sensors you get a lot of other benefits especially with regard to speed of Autofocus/IBIS, and generally the cameras have a much more developed feature set.

Is this on the import profile, if so then yes, I have set mine up so with different cameras, it uses different preset profiles (and with the Fuji one's I alter the default sharpness - downwards!)

Hmm. Well I don't have a post-processing routine; the whole reason I chose Fuji was to avoid that. Any in-camera suggestions I can make? I sent my X-T20 off to MPB last week; maybe I should've have haha.

I am enjoying the crop on the 40mp sensor though; that is very convenient!
