The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Somebody wanted to see a snap of my old "BSA Gold Star" (Goldie), well here it is. My Pa (now passed on) bought it new and gave it to me when he was unable to ride it anymore. I've still got it and it's still in immaculate condition and still goes like the clappers.

Gorgeous bike George.

This snap has not been posted via Flickr as I'm trying to keep that a/c for my mono street work, hence the dip in quality.

Not much to say on this one. I just really liked the building. A lot of HongKong has this dirty, gritty aesthetic, and I really like it.

This was over near the "monster building", which was my target for that night. By this point I hadn't really slept for 3 days, just the odd hour here and there. Being a famous insta spot i expected to find a crowd, but actually had the place to myself. Probably helps that it was around 10pm on a Tuesday in mid winter. The place was much cooler than I expected, but I struggle with architectural stuff at the best of times, letalone when sleep deprived. Also, even my 12mm didn't feel wide enough...

Either way, here's the shot -

Love the second one. Great aspect (y)

I plan to go there!

I was originally hoping for this shot from just outside, but my sleep deprived brain didn't consider that in the depths of night, you can't see the mountain behind and it doesn't really work...

Still, it's a nice area and worth a walk around. As with most places, the insta shot was actually the least interesting part of it.

Love the bus shot. The windows and colour palette blend in with the building...almost camouflaged.

Couple of gear questions:

  • Has anyone used the 1.4x teleconverter (or any other teleconverter)? I'm interested in extending the range of my XC 50-230. I don't really have the cash (or inclination) to spend £500+ on a new longer lens that I only use every so often! Obviously suggestions of other longer lenses at more reasonable prices welcome...

  • I posted earlier about upgrading to an X-T50; but its increasingly looking like that won't be financially viable (unless a decent refurbed body comes up - however there is one on eBay from an outlet store, with the new kit lens, for £1200. Which is tempting. I digress...)

So I'm thinking of going up to an X-T30II. And really its just for quality of life things - I assume as this camera is still considered 'current' by Fuji that its receiving updates, that it can use the new app, that you can rename Custom profiles (a feature which, as simple as it is, has become important to me...)

Again any other upgrade suggestions to my X-T20 would be welcome. I'm considering an X-T4 but I'm scared about how much bigger and heavier it will feel!

The cheapest "long" lens is probably the 70-300.

The X-T30ii will be the same generation as the X100V, you can use the new app, but I doubt you will get regular updates, if any at all.

I thought that too but I googled it and found you can.
Fuji's website lists the 1.4x as incompatible; where did you find it online?

Can't see any reason why you couldn't attach it to any Fuji lens and treat it like a manual lens with an adapter. I assume the compatibility refers more to its electronic compatibility

The t/c has a large protruding section on the front so any lens that it attached to needs the rear element recessed so it will fit.

Looking at my 50-230 the rear element is recessed. Probably not at the right distance though. Oh well

These are with my 50-230 + the 2x function on the xt50. Sooc no further cropping or anything.
If you zoom in on the door you can see what make of trainer was used to try and kick in in

I came across this FB group recently, lots of recipes.

Crikey. You're making it very hard for me not to upgrade :ROFLMAO:

How are you liking it so far?
I do like it. But keep find little things they catch me out.
For example the front command dial wheel can adjust the aperture. But not if a lens with aperture ring is fitted. Took me about an hour to work that one out yesterday

Oh god. I just bought an X-T50 from an eBay refurbished outlet store. Send me all the luck and good graces that you can!

30 day return; 12 month warranty; eBay buyer protection...I should be fine.

Anyway, as a result - my X-T20 is up for sale if anyone is keen!

The poppy I posted up the other day has opened up. So I decided to have a play with a UV torch (and a tad of PS ;))

Weird looking storm trooper!

Andor is back this month (can't wait); got any Star Wars projects in the works in celebration?

:ROFLMAO: Ok ok ;)
I too am really looking forward to it :)
I don`t have any Andor figures, but maybe will try and have a go at something... At the moment, for some unknown reason, I`ve started painging Warhammer 40k figures. Also easier to shoot, as theyre very small ;)

First season was so good. The politics of Star Wars is much more interesting than the bloody space magic! Only good standalone TV Disney have done IMO.

Boba Fett was just awful!

I agree, and they could have made Boba Fett so much better. I thought it was ok. I liked Ashoka, but the rest is garbage imo, barring Mando of course ;)

Well done, you know it’s right. Did it come with a lens or just the body
Body and lens; although the seller had no idea what they actually had so even though it was listed as the 16-50mm god only know what I might actually get… I have a fairly decent record with eBay though so I’m hoping my luck holds out. £1200 for body and lens…
