Flash question

Good morning my Fuji friends.
I’m looking at buying a flash for my T3. Mainly for using in dark gig venues, but sculptures too.
Any advice or thoughts would be welcome.
The last time I possessed a flash was the one that came with a T1.

Thanks in advance.
Have the V1 and 685 with a preference for the v1.

The Godox V860F (mk3) is the current Lithium-Ion version of the TT685F.
I have both and would recommend the 860 over the 685 as the flash recharge is faster and the battery lasts longer than the 4xAAs do (more expensive for a backup battery though). The V1 is the round head version.

Not sure you'll be too popular using it at gigs though?

Well! My 66th Birthday yesterday and officially an OAP. Said to the wife I will be buying myself another lens lol. Was going to part X the 16-55 for the newer version but even after buying the mk1 second hand I would still be losing a shed load on it. So I did a thing and ordered the Viltrox 25 1.7 Air!! Did I need the focal range NO! Have the Viltrox 27 1.2 and the Fuji original 23 1.4 but for £160 this tiny little plastic lens is a dream to carry and up there with the 27mm 1.2 for sharpness. Yep it vignettes wide open but still sharp at 1.7 and 2.8 onward eyebleedingly sharp. Might treat myself to the 56 Air version as my Fuji 56 mk1 in my mind is not so great on the 40mp sensors and blooms badly wide open with really bad CA.

Thanks for the answer and details, really useful.
I have avoided using any flash at gigs for all the obvious reasons. But a lot of small gigs I go to seems no-one bothers and use flash a lot. If there was a more subtle way of approaching it, I would like to give the process a whirl.

I use Godox.

I have the TT685 (mentioned by another poster). These don't seem as widely available now - they also use AA cells. I use the basic X-T1 trigger. But it's nice they have different trigger options.

Once you have a wireless trigger you can use other Godox kit - so I also now have an AD200Pro II which I have only just started playing with.

If you are using the flash kit a lot then I think it is worth going for Li-ion battery versions - so V860 rather than TT685.
Owning both I agree with the last paragraph, :)

Those Blue batteries arrived from Amazon. 1 of the 2 DOA. I started a return to Amazon but royal mail could not collect from my place or work and Amazon could not give me a drop off label...ended up getting a total refund and I get to keep the other working one.

Score! lol

I will definitely get a Fuji one though now and treat that 3rd party one as spare.

Andrew -
Thanks for the reply and info.

This snap has not been posted via Flickr as I'm trying to keep that a/c for my mono street work, hence the dip in quality.

I had a hospital appointment the other week so I found myself around the harbourside area on my way back home around sunset time.

These are edited LR RAW's - I can't remember if I used Classic Chrome as a base though or my Portra profile - either way, they are fairly similar. I do want to start restricting myself to just jpeg though, but the whole import RAW, etc workflow is hard to break :ROFLMAO:

These are really nice, Lee.
I tried just jpeg, but couldn't get my head around not fiddling. So have ended up back with raw ;)

I was the same, I found that if I set up a recipe it worked ok, until I trurned round when the light was all different, and IMO it just fell apart.

Thank you. Yes that's pretty much how I feel. Shooting RAW only, importing to LR, editing and exporting jpeg has been my routine for at least 15 years...... The last jpegs I have from Sunday morning look pretty good imo - I've not edited the RAWS yet - but as David said, I also find they can vary quite a lot at times. And I do shoot auto WB too on Fuji which I find to be pretty good in all honesty.

Anyone had any experience with the X-T50? I’ve had a small windfall and am considering upgrading the X-T20. Other models considered; let’s pretend the budget is under a grand
I think @leaky5 has one :)

I bought one a few weeks ago. Not had a chance to use it much yet.
But I think for me it has most of the stuff I want and I have a few Fuji lenses.
There are a few things you have to remember, with the film sim dial, you need to leave it in C to use the custom settings.
I had a bit of a play today and found if I want a good starting setting, I have set up one of the custom slots as Reggie’s Porta but with classic chrome as the sim. Put it in P mode but of + exposure and it’s good to go.
It means if I am in a bit of a hurry I don’t have to think much about it.
I also use film sim bracketing on my Fujis quite a lot, normally 2 colour and 1 B&W

The second of Viltrox air series lenses I have bought in as many weeks. Just like the 25mm this 56mm is blindingly sharp incredibly light and stupidly cheap. I prefer this to my original Fuji 56 1.2

Looks great. Did you get it from Viltrox direct ?
Got a bit of money in the bank and the 56 has been tempting me

Did you get the new 16-50mm kit lens with it? That internal zoom looks super nice.

I'm trying to figure out a reasonable selling price for me X-T20 and 18-55mm kit lens. I'd probably package it with the tt-a 27mm too. Any thoughts?

It did come with the 16-50, was such a good price at the Photography show I could not resist it.
I was surprised how small the 16-50 is, they fit really well together.

Not really sure what your kit would go for, sorryIMG_0388.jpeg

Replying to Chris there made me think about the Viltrox 28mm F/4.5 that I bought not long after selling the TTA 27mm. I just had a look at the Pergear website to see what the current price is (when I bought mine the price was dropping almost by the day), and now it's down to £67!! That's ridiculously cheap, I've spent more than that on manual lenses before...
