Nice little camera with an interesting menu structure!

It came in mint condition and with a little EF-X8 flash.
I can't get the flash to work, it doesn't seem to be recognised (?)
Selecting 'Flash' in the Q menu it seems to be greyed out and does not respond to the Command dial being rotated.
I've cleaned the contacts off on both camera and flash with a lens tissue but to no effect.
I could well be missing some menu option so would welcome any suggestions plese. :)

Try This (Fuji documentation)

If you are in any Continuous Shooting, bracketing or movie modes, flash functions will be greyed out. Switch to S for Single shot via the selector on the front of the camera and you'll have access to flash settings again.

Thank you - I am in S (top left selector wheel), but greyed out in the Q menu. :(

The camera can obviously see the flash as entering from the Menu selector and choosing Flash Function Settings it goes from Sync Terminal to Supplied Flash, however the left square (illuminated) shows Off and nothing seems to change it. :thinking:

SORTED: I had it set to electronic shutter, changing that got it working!

Oh dear Fuji are making it very hard for me to not leave Excel without an x-t50 and 16-50.
They are doing it for £1250 cheapest on camera price buster is £1500

well they refused to tell me when the xe5 is being released.

I didn’t notice (although might not have paid enough attention) any of the other main manufacturers offering discounts, Fuji had nearly everything discounted ( but not the 100vi, although plenty for sale )

You can do a decent amount of editing with a jpeg; I only use my RAW file if I really need to bring the shadows up a long way. Normally I use the jpegs, and just give them a tiny tweak if they need it.
 
Had a half day last Wednesday - had an appointment at the registry office - so we took a walk into, around & home from the city centre..... Made the most of a sunny day & a local cider on the waterfront :)

Re Viltrox lenses. At first I put this down to the x-e1 being an older camera, but have noticed the same on the xt50.

When I turn the camera on with my Viltrox lens, it takes about 10-15 seconds before it is ready to use. Black screen until it is ready. After that it is fine.

Has anyone else noticed the same ?

I haven't noticed that, but when I was in Chicago last year with the Viltrox 23mm F/1.4 on my X-T4 I got the "please turn your camera off and on again" message quite a bit one day. It was really cold though, so it could have been that (and I've had that message with Fuji lenses too).

So far, no issues with the 27mm on my T5

I was thinking about one of those a while ago. Reckon it would be fun in New York, or somewhere with a lot of high-rise ;) Alas Norwich doesn't have much in the way of modern architecture.

Its too wide, objects are stretched at the edges and whats in the distance is so far away.......and the slightest tilt and everything starts leaning. Fine if you want wacky distortedv views of the world.

For most people you'd be better served with the 10-24

That's what I meant by fun for those kind of things.
I do have an old 10-24 :)

Personally for me I have always found around 13/14mm (20mm on ff terms) to be the widest I use find it very hard to shoot wider than that.
