The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Right you knowledgeable lot. Been noticing on the Xt5 that I am getting some out of focus shots as in slightly off but really noticeable when zoomed in. Don't think it is shake has I have tried to reproduce the effect by shaking the camera while taking an image but the ibis manages to beat me at that game. Seems to happen more with my 16-55 but also happened with viltrox 27 1.2. Approx 10 out of 150 shots, may have been happening for a while but may have just dismissed as oops missed that one. Smallest or second smallest focus box middle of the focus points with more than fast enough shutter speeds. Could it be a 40mp sensor thing? Sent body back and 16-55 in for a service, lens group changed on 16-55 and new top plate and front assembly on body (0 on exposure compensation didn't quite line up with the dash on top plate so had it done under warranty.) Same issue on return of body and lens. Is it me or does anyone notice this slight oof at times.

I had a similar thing with X-H1 and first generation 16-55mm F2.8 - really annoying, and one of the reasons I gave up with X-H1

I high 5 whenever I manage to get something in focus these days!

I was certain it was the 16-55 but after using the viltrox 27 yesterday I was clearly wrong. I do find I struggle with some of the older lenses with the 40 mp sensor. The old 56 and 16-55 wide open can make the highlights bloom massively so much I may get rid of the 56.

Amazon are making it really hard right now.

I really want to have some more idea on the x-e5 specs.

But they have just reduced the x-t50 body to under £1k

I am hoping the Fuji stand at the photo show in a weeks time might have some idea about the x-e5

Fujifilm XF Thread Size for Filters
I have two Fuji lenses, XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS kit lens and XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR

If my calculations are correct, I need 58 and 67mm filter/s.

I assume the best way to do this is, 67mm with a step ring ring from the 58mm?

Also looking for a recommendation as to a reasonably priced brand for a polarizer?

Many thanks

This will work but you won’t be able to use the 18-55 with the hood attached

I've found Urth stuff to be very good, I have one of their polarisers for my 100-400 lens. I have a few K&F filters too which are very cheap, and I've had no problems with them (although I haven't tried their polarisers, just NDs and black mist).

I was hoping Sigma might have one to try at the photography show in London next week
Seems like they will have one/some there, not sure if they'll have a fuji fit but from this brief review it seems to be much as expected, not mega sharp but easy to travel with.

Asking for a friend.

Would you pay full price of about £1500 for a new camera with a 2 year warranty from Fuji

or

£1300 for a second hand of the same model with 6 month warranty

Camera is a new model, less than a year since release and should you need to repair after 6 months the fixed price repair from Fuji is £168

Personally I'd spend the extra £200 and get the new one. You're losing 18 months warranty, and any repairs would be free.

Nothing for my X-T2s, GFX 50Ss or X100T then. :sorry:

Here are couple of recent purchases. I’m a hobbyist so don’t have a lot of gear. I can’t really justify it.
Most of my cash goes down the sinkhole of art materials purchasing.
For gig photography I brought a 16-55/2.8.
Most of the reviews I read or watched boiled down to it’s too heavy, or it’s a bit boring.
I’ve not really found that, so far.
I also brought a film camera. It works, the results are fine. Still have no idea why I brought it though.
Final picture is my two lens set-up.
A good workout lugging these around.

Picked up a little x-t1 and 35mm f2 wr, just to see what all the fuss was about. :)
Nice little camera with an interesting menu structure!

It came in mint condition and with a little EF-X8 flash.
I can't get the flash to work, it doesn't seem to be recognised (?)
Selecting 'Flash' in the Q menu it seems to be greyed out and does not respond to the Command dial being rotated.
I've cleaned the contacts off on both camera and flash with a lens tissue but to no effect.
I could well be missing some menu option so would welcome any suggestions plese. :)
