The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Alan, if thats the 23mm 2F2 or the old 23mm F1.4 lens, it will not be as sharp as your previous X100V, the newer 23mm F1.4 will be.

I quite like the X-T50 in the hand, but you are moving away froim something that 'could' fit in a large pocket.

And given the fact that you've not gelled enough with your previous Fuji's to keep them for a long time, maybe something from a different manufacturer might be an option worth considering.......
Did you keep the x-t50 and still use it and if so what are your thoughts on it ?
I have been patiently waiting for the x-e5 to come out, but now I have saved up enough for one ( hopefully) , but I am wondering if the x-t50 might be a good option.
I will at least wait until the photography show at Excel next month to at least play about with the 50.
There are some quite tempting deals for the 50 at the moment, £1500 from the Fuji store on Amazon with the more expensive lens.
Without knowing the exact spec of the 5 it makes it a little harder

I’ve never owned one, just played with one ( it felt better in the hand than previous X-Tx0 series cameras), if I was spending that kind of money, I’d want a bigger EVF, the EVFs in the X-Tx0 series and X-E series are small in comparison with the X-T and X-H series, it’s a once seen never unseen kind of moment.

Recently brought a used X100F and I've been out with it a couple of times, can't fault the build quality and I've got a couple of images I'm pleased with, but I'm struggling to gel with it... no idea why, I just don't seem to be able to connect with it, anyone else found the same?

I did happen to capture one of the best sunsets so far this year with it while walking over Waterloo bridge in January, but I wished I had something wider.

I started off okay with the X100f. A year later & I love it more than ever. On paper, and in certain aspects, my Sony kit is better. Much better. But for pure feeling & relaxed enjoyment the X100f wins. But, we are different people who like different things. I also like to shoot a bit of film too.

Firstly, you wanted something wider.....? Shoot a panorama/mosaic ;)

Secondly, what are you finding you aren't enjoying about it?

I did consider a panorama, but didn't have a tripod and the light was too low to get a handheld panorama, the camera was resting on the bridge railings to keep it steady as it was! ;)

I wouldn't say I'm not enjoying it, it's a nice camera to use and in my quest to carry as little gear as possible, it's ideal, I'm just not getting the same feeling I get with I use the X-T20... maybe it's because so far, since I got it in January, I've only used the X100F twice and it's been miserable, freezing cold and grey, hardly inspiring conditions, the sunset above only lasted about 10 minutes, I'd already crossed Waterloo Bridge and ran back from Waterloo station when I realized how good it was going to be, spring it just around the corner though so maybe a few days out with it when the weather improves will help.

Anyone thinking about the new Viltrox 28mm F/4.5 pancake? I don't have a real need, but it would mean that my X-T4 would fit in the front pocket of my work bag, which would be handy sometimes...

I have been looking at it as well.

I have the Olympus 9mm 'body cap' lens and it was a lot of fun because you could just stick it into a side pocket in a bag when travelling.

The Viltrox looks like better value (though not as wide) because it has AF. It looks like a very attractive small lens on a smaller X-T30 or XE or XM.

For me it's a bit of a dilemma - not quite wide enough for me - but then I think about the size - tempting.

Someone I know has one for Sony (it has to be the same one surely? There can't be many tiny pancake lenses about) and aside from the small aperture it appears to be a good performing lens for the £100 or so that it is.

Give it more time. If you are shooting in grey dull conditions, using any camera will give you bad feelings! Depending how you use it, I wouldn't expect it to give the same feelings though. The whole point of mine is that it gives me a different feeling than using the A7Riii and GM primes. I want it to feel different, more basic, more analogue.

I quite fancy taking a punt on that Viltrox 28mm f4.5 lens - so thin and compact for sure….i like the simple protection slide cover for the lens…..effective.
Amazon have these for £90 in Fuji X Mount it seems.

Ultra lightweight and ultra compact for sure…!

I’m off in late May on a five-day motorcycle tour of southern Ireland with three biker colleagues, this new Viltrox 28/4.5 would make for a sensible point ‘n shoot travel lens attached to my X-E1 for travel compactness.

I also couldn't gel with an X100F. I tried to like it, I wanted to like it, but just couldn't get on with it. Rather like a Volkswagen Golf, lovely car, I just can't get on with them, I've tried several times.

I’ve just ordered one as well… price is £81 now, don’t know why that would be; exchange rate possibly?

Not X series, but it is Fujifilm - Here's a few from my recent trip to Hong Kong. Shot on Instax wide, in my Lomo wide glass

Night view from Beacon Hill -

2677_001.jpg

Staying past sunset at beacon hill was a bit of a mistake. There's nothing up there, no lights or anything, and plenty of wildlife (stray dogs, monkeys, boar). The plan was to head up for sunset and come back down while there was still some light in the sky, but I got lost in the moment and before I knew it, night had descended and everyone else had left. Walking back down was an experience...
It was a moonless night, so I could juuuuuust about make out the outline of the track. It's about an hour or so to get down, and not more than 5 minutes in I encountered a VERY angry boar, maybe 10-15m away from me in the bushes. I will never forget the noises that thing made. I froze in terror, not sure if I was supposed to make a load of noise and scare it off, just continue to walk confidently, or run like hell... Eventually, I had to bite the bullet and just walked slowly but confidently, but ready to run. I made it past, but the path meanders back and forth, so I'd have to keep passing nearby for a while. On top of that, in some sections the path get's walled in by huge rock walls on either side - not the sort of place you want to encounter wildlife.
Every 5 minutes or so I'd catch a glimpse of a fuzzy shadow moving across the path ahead of me, but the light was so poor I couldn't even tell how big they were, letalone the shape. Could be a cat, a dog, a monkey, or another boar... I didn't fancy meeting any of them.

It was the longest hour of my life.

Viltrox uk supposed to have them in next week.

Delightful - that would be gorgeous with large mug of coffee…!

Beautiful capture.

Thanks, Peter.
haha I haven`t tried one yet, but my daughter thinks they`re yummy ;)

I got the Viltrox 28mm for my Sony back in October last year and shared a shot of it on my A7R4 just to show how small it is,

Not tempted to have a try George? Love the angle and the reactions!

Many thanks Nick, much appreciated. (y)

"I thought about it but there would have been no one to hold my camera" ;):):)
