The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Had a nice shard of sunlight coming through, so grabbed a decoration off the tree (as you do)...

T5 16-55 and a bit of boris optics for a fuji something film preset.

That's a very nice toy/decoration style capture Paul, great use of the ambient light.

"Christmas tree up in November, whatever next" :)

Thanks, George.

I shot jpeg today..... let's see how they turn out :ROFLMAO:

I had a try a while back, and tbh they were ok

I’ve shot JPG only for years and years on many different cameras.

Only recently have I started shooting JPG+RAW (on the previous and current X100VI’s] and if I have it set to STD colour e.g. no film sims, then it is extremely difficult to tell the difference in LRC.

Not sure what I’m missing :cautious:

I just enjoy playing around with Photoshop, so went back to raw. I'm sure if I didn't, it would be jpeg all the way ;)

I've still got my "tinkered with" Sims though:)

I've always shot both before. But I tend to import RAW files, edit with my Portra profile I use generally or Classic Chrome and export the jpegs - mainly because I'm stuck in my editing routine from non Fuji :ROFLMAO:

It's just what you're used to I guess. I've been using PS since CS3 lol so can't really get my head around anything else nowadays ;)

I've never shot jpg on anything only raw. To me not snapping to a units full potential is a bit like having a Ferrari and towing a trailer with it, but that's just my opinion and I respect that everyone has their own preferences. :)

I shoot both - and I use capture one, which imports the RAWs with the JPG settings applied so my starting point is exactly what I shot. Basically the best of both worlds.

My story isn't anything too exciting..... :ROFLMAO:

Well, I've always thought I wanted the car I bought, but not under the circumstances. I've had my silver 2010 '10' plate Focus for over 7 years, it belonged to the dad of my best mate [since school] who sadly passed away from cancer in 2017 - now on just over 90,000 miles and pretty much not missed a beat :) I was more than happy to keep it for a few more years tbh. But, recently my stepdad has had his licence taken from him due to an Aortic Aneurysm which is pretty large & they have said they aren't going to operate on due to health & age - he's 81. He also had a 2010 '60' plate Focus, pretty much the same as mine aside from colour..... 31,000 miles on the clock so I couldn't really turn it down. Just as I said, I would have preferred it in 3-4 years time when he decided not to drive by his own decision :( He is pretty gutted & depressed about it really - cars weren't just cars in his life. A bit like me & some of us, he owned lots & lots of cars over the years. Engine swaps & built kit cars etc in his more younger years. He drove funeral cars for the Co-Op & was a driving instructor all through the 80-90's. I engine swapped my first Escort with him, after we rebuilt the engine together, when I was 18/19 - taught me at the time how to do ignition timing, set the points, valve clearances, adjust brakes etc etc and it's due to him how I am now with regard to mechanics. The Escort I have now was his initially.

On a more positive note, my mum has bought a Nissan Micra auto & started driving again. She passed her test around 40 years ago but hasn't driven for maybe 30 years or so! My stepdad was her instructor, that was how they met :) She seems to be doing okay though on todays hectic roads for the local, short journey's they do.

Anyway, sorry for the long chat...... :)

I'll take a photo of the 'new' Focus when it's had a good clean. Or maybe I'll just Photoshop the colour of the old one.... ;) :ROFLMAO:

^^^ This is a quote of mine from the Sony Thread.

Seeing as I used the X100f for it, Here's my mum with her Micra

My son had a karate tournament today, which I thought would be a good opportunity to test the new AF firmware on the X-H2S - it did seem slightly better. However, Fuji haven't fixed the locking up issue I've been experiencing, and the camera locked up just as he got into the ring for his first competition, meaning I had to do a full battery out reset, missing shooting that round. Annoying for me, but would be unacceptable for a pro.

"Excellent" sports/action style capture Lewis, with a good expression and perfect timing.

Very nice moody/misty landscape style capture Graham.

It is> the way I look at it if it happened more it wouldn't be as special :ROFLMAO:

That's very true indeed, just occasionally this also happens for me (not very often I might add), but what is also very rewarding is when I've been out & about snapping and perhaps something in the pic' makes it a little bit special that In hadn't noticed at the time of taking and not discovering until I start to cull the pic's.

I've done quite a bit of travelling this year and on one such trip to Shanghai I managed to picked up an X100vi mainly because a couple of my street buddies use them and I thought it might be a good investment for my street photography and an opportunity get back into shooting Fuji. My only other venture into the X100 series was with an X100S which I just couldn't get on with and quickly outed. This later model is definitely a much better camera and is quite nice to use, but will I eventually gel with it? I'm not so sure on that one and the jury is still out.

I spent a few days last week back home in TN for "Thanksgiving" and flew back Red Eye to the UK over Friday night. When I got back on Saturday morning I found another new Fuji camera in my possessions that looked like an XS20 and have managed to get out and take a few snaps with it. It seems like a really lovely little unit to use with absolutely incredible facial tracking which is ideal for my street photography (which I'm slowly trying to break away from) and of course it takes all of my existing lenses etc enabling to do other types of photography.
