The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

@Mr Perceptive I text @trevorbray a couple of nights ago telling him he needs an M10 in his life, blown his mind :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

When he gets it i'm going to tell him he needs to go back to Fuji :exit:

You can't go back if you still own one :D, its a bit like the 'more tea' at the mad hatters tea party!!

I'm not giving up on Fuji, my GFX and X100 are definitely staying - its all about having teh right tool for the job, and I'm in the very fortunate position to be able to put these in place. The trouble with @trevorbray is that he d never seems to have the right tools and his magpie tendencies mean that he is going down every available rabbit hole :ROFLMAO:

I'm a little surprised you didn't wait to see what the new X100 brings or do you think the rumour site has pretty much nailed it ?

I'm a little surprised you didn't wait to see what the new X100 brings or do you think the rumour site has pretty much nailed it ?

A couple of reasons

1) That lens - the Leica one!

2) I'm tired of fighting X-Trans to get the colour rending I like - the X100 (original) and GFX and just so right in this regard - I barely have to touch the sliders.

The new X100VI will be a nice camera buts its not one for me!

Bag advice please peeps!

Looking for something small for an XT3, 16mm 1.4 and 56mm 1,2. Would be nice if a small pocket for battery, potentially a 35mm f2 (although may sell) and possibly a small pocket for odds and ends although not essential (i.e. mini tripod, selfie stick etc..

I guess a Billingham style one without the £££. Doesnt have to look like a camera bag although all my others are (and have been) Lowepro. Am guessing it will be over the shoulder but may look at a sling type one. Hard to know online how nicely this combo will fit in so hit me up with what you use please

Well i'm super happy with the lens and I hate to say it but when looking back over some old Fuji files to process at the weekend I know exactly where you're coming from.

For me colour rendering has got worse with each generation of X-Trans sensor - I'm sorry if this upsets the fanboi's (and I am one!!) but this is my opinion.

I'm interest in this subject also :) I'm so used to carrying backpacks!! But would like something for the X100f and 35mm film camera.

Those Bellroy (?) look nice...... £££££'s though :(

Do they do a half price version without the red dot? :ROFLMAO:
Believe it or not there's pussies out there that put gaffer tape over the red dot giving them a cheap anti mugging solution.......

Wotancraft Pilot V2 3.5L are really nice, only takes a few days from Taiwan and didn't have to pay any import duty.

I’ve got one of these:

Basically a copy of the Peak Design sling at a fraction of the price. Not a huge fan of the shiny material but it’s a very high quality bag. Recommended!

I just went through this last month for the following.

X-S10
35/1.4
23/1.4 attached
50/1.2
Batteries
Battery bank 10,000 mha.
Small rocket blower
Batteries
iPad Air

I originally bought the Peak Design 6L but it turned out to be too small. Cannot fit everything in the way I wanted it to. Like have the camera attached to the body and can get it out easily. I end up getting the 10L which isn’t that big in person.

The pros

Good material, clever strap locking mechanism
Placements for the Peak Design Capture clip so you can in theory carry the body externally for even quicker access.
Quality zips with anti theft hoops
Straps for tripod on the underside.
Comfortable to wear all day, can wear it as a messenger bag too.
Clever origami folding dividers so you can stack some items without them touching.

The Cons

The 10L has less pockets than the 6L, the 6L has 2 internal pockets on the side which is not in the 10L.
Would be nice to have an external pocket on the side facing the body.
Strap could be another cm wider.
No key hook.

For £140 for the 10L one, it’s okay, there are loads on eBay for like 1/3rd off used. Might be an option. Overa I like it but I don’t love it like I love the Ryker.

I might get another sling when I get the new X100, perhaps a 6L one, probably go for a wotoncraft again. Their leather and brass hardware is excellent quality.

(Ps, if I put a smallrig base plate and then add the capture clip onto the camera, it does not fit into the 6L with lens attached. It’s too tall in both X and Y axis to fit into the 6L.

Cheapest XT4 (boxed) I've seen, £750 !

Not in bad nick either, you don’t see many with no paint damage.
I was lucky with the one I just got from them, although it was £150 more than than one.
Going to get a half leather case to protect the base

I think this is my first image posted to this thread......??

Love the colours in this! Making me think twice about upgrading from my X-T20 (same sensor as the X100F)

Which film sim was this?

I would go for a Billingham, I know that they are expensive, but they are well made, and can last a lifetime (literally). If that is the style you want there really isn't any other substitute especially if you amortise the costs of the lifetime of the bag.

My choice would be a Hadley Pro 2020, with the additional shoulder pad - these are comfortable to wear (the shoulder pad makes a difference on a long day) and can be worn as a shoulder or a crossover bag, the handle is also useful (the strap can be folded in the top of the bag). Hard wearing and from a conversation with Billingham, Fibrenyte is more hardwearing than the traditional canvas. They are also very waterproof, I have roadtested this bit!

If you wait for sales they are often discounted (up to 20%).

I often use mine for one camera c/w lens, an extra lens, battery, etc, and there is still plenty of room for a bottle of water, glasses case, notebook, etc. Magazines, guides etc can easily be slipped between the insert and the bag side.

My first one (10 years old) has had an immense amount of use (equates to 33p a week to date!!), and is looking tired, with a some wear showing on one of the panels. Billingham offer a repair service and quoted me £37 to repair including shipping but I opted to treat myself to a new version in the last Black Friday Sales (20% off). Beacuse the inserts are the same, I can easily swap between bags and I will still use old one if I'm going to unsavoury locations, it won't stand out!

Quite a choice of colours from the traditional photographers tan to the more urban friendly black or sage green.

BTW Wex have a Billingham Promotion at the moment 10% - use coupon BILL-10 at checkout

I've got a Domke F6 which would hold that lot with a bit of space to spare. There's a pocket on the front for batteries, cards etc. too.

Thats nice Lee, from your Sony work I had an idea of your intended result!

Thanks both.

It isn't a film simulation.

This is where my confusion and indecision stems from...... Some of the Fuji simulations are nice. But they don't match my Sony work at all. So do I go simulation and separate it. Or seeing as I'm shooting RAW to add simulations in LR anyway, do I just add my own profile/preset to bring the look closer to my usual Sony style......?

I don't intend on over editing the X100f images btw.

I'll often take several images of the same subject and share them together like an Instagram carousel for example, and I don't like them having different looks. I could never share a carousel with a saturated, black and white, faded images in it...... my mind just won't let me do it! :ROFLMAO:

Lee, if you are interested Kyle McDougall has two further free Fuji presets which I think are nice, can be quite filmlike, I have used these as a base which I often apply. These used to be on his website but got removed several years ago, if you want them then drop me a PM with an email address (this applies to any other thread readers as well) and I'll send them over. Might suit you as a base. I often use one of these with an additional reduction in the detail slider (X-Trans is quite sensitive to teh detail slider). X100F image below:-

Thank you

Is that the profiles with a 'standard' and a 'warm' version? I have got those, had them a while, but find them very warm/yellow.

Yes Neutral and Warm, I use Neutral quite a bit (with less detail), then modify from there. Definitely works better in summer (sunny) images :)

Sorry. I should have expanded on this a little bit :)

I used a Portra base profile. Then just tweaked some colours a little bit. I don't like my greens too green or my blues too blue. I might have made slight curve adjustments too. And lens correction. Grain is on a separate preset anyway.
