The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Thankyou very much. I may have a go, any recommendations on printing services?
Friend of mine gets theirs done through Flickr, and has always been happy.

I'm in Northern Italy for Christmas and my brother-in-law took me to The Calatrava-designed train station at Reggio Emilia yesterday. Some pics:

3. My son pointed out this shot but as he is a cool 20-something he shot it on out-of-date B&W film with a 50 year old camera and I couldn't be bothered waiting to see what it looked like so I copied him.

Plus a bonus picture from the Andreas Gursky exhibition we went to afterwards. This is a reflection in the Anish Kapoor sculpture outside the MAST gallery

Thanks for looking

I've been looking at getting the 35mm F1.4 to replace my 7Artisans manual lens. Had a look at MPB, Wex etc. the other day, plenty to choose from. Got my Xmas bonus today so decided to treat myself: MPB haven't got any, Wex have only got one and it's very well used... I found one from LCE so hopefully I'll have it tomorrow, but is there are reason they're all being bought, other than Christmas?

They are good lenses, and discontinued.

Ah, that probably explains it; I didn't realise they were discontinued.

I think it was recently, but it's a very good lens. Lots of YouTube Channels raves about it about it's "character".

I personally just think it looks cool with it's square hood, tiny lens that I don't notice having in my camera bag. I wouldn't sell mine and not felt the need to get the 33/1.4.

I suspect that the new price is a bit too high so that makes used ones more tempting.

When I was looking to get one early last year there were not many used ones about and I wasn't going to pay for a new one either at official UK prices or grey market.

I think it's overhyped. Not my favourite focal length either. But it's a lens I carry because it is 'nice' and it is lightweight and it is versatile and it is good fit on both the smaller bodes like the X-T30 or the larger ones like the X-H1. On that basis there may be quite a few of us who keep one tucked away in our bags and don't trade them - meaning not so many available used as there maybe should be.

I don't like the hood. The rubber front cap pops off too easily and if you have the original lens cap inside then it's a fiddle to get out.

So IMO the hood is stupid - except that IME it actually is pretty good at keeping light rain off the front element - now if only the lens was a WR (doh! so still stupid).

I don’t use the front rubber cap. If the lens is store in the bag, it sits facing down. I never have any dirt or dust on it because it’s so deep.

Are you all talking about the MkI? Anyone got the MkII which looks suspiciously like the Fuji auto-focus 23mm?
If you’re talking about the XF35mm f2 I have one. It works a little quicker than the 1.4 and is a nice, sharp lens.

Couldn't be without the 23 f1.4. I've had a few Fuji lenses, but that was my first and I still have it. It's now the only prime in my kit.

35mm lens arrived yesterday. Very impressed with LCE; that's the second lens I've had from them & in both cases you could barely tell they were used.

First impressions of the lens are good; the 7Artisans lens is on the way to MPB right now. Haven't had a chance to get out properly with the new lens, but I did take these earlier, of my favourites so far from this year's advent calendar :)

Fuji experts -

I use the rear screen for quite a lot of composition and have found the final JPG preview on the back of my X-Pro2 is a lot darker than what I’m composing and seeing in live view.

Preview/exposure mode is on and so can’t figure out why the difference.

Any clues what I’m doing wrong.

Regardless of the live view, what does the exposure meter/histogram say before taking the shot?

If natural live view is turned on the camera will use whatever means necessary to give you a good live view, like using 3200iso, even though you've set your max iso to auto800 or something, which will result in what you're seeing.

Histogram is in a good place. I tend to shoot aperture priority with a set ISO. The issue is the WYSIWYG view on the rear screen looks good but on image review the image is darker which means I have to raise exposure in post.

Don’t recall having this problem with my old X-Pro1.

I don't think I shared any photos from testing out my 50-140mm at an MTB race the other week.

I was pleased with the AF performance improvement over my 55-200, and the extra light was very helpful on a dull December afternoon. It also got suitably christened with mud splatters - to the point I had to thoroughly clean the lens when I got home. I cannot wait to get out with it more over the new year.

Why did I write 23 when I meant 35??? Must of been that bump on the head !! :ROFLMAO:

I was wondering the same….i have the 23/1.4 too and despite 35mm on FF being my favourite focal length, some reason I don’t click with the 23/1.4 R.

Hi all, need some Fuji advise, you guys seem pretty knowledgable!

Long story short, I used to have an X-/T20 that stopped working and at the time I was going through a phase where I had lost a bit of interest in photography, so replaced it with a basic X-T100, which I have to say is actually a wonderful camera, just a bit slow to use, I'm now looking to upgrade as I've got back into photography and want the extra features back, so I'm looking at either X-H1 or X-T3....

Anyway, my first question, the X-H1 has the X Trans 3 and the X-T3 has X Trans 4 sensor, is there any real world difference difference between the two sensors for day to day photography?

Second question, what USB port does the X-H1 have, USB-C or Micro-USB, I can't seem to find an answer to this anywhere.

The X-H1 has Ibis and a top plate screen which is something I miss from my Nikon days but the X-T3 has the newer sensor, so I'm weighing up the pros and cons.

I know the IQ between the X-T100 and either of the two cameras I'm looking at upgrading to isn't going to be night and day, it's the features, dials and buttons I want back.
