The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

A weekend in a camping pod in the Shropshire hills. All SOOC Jpegs using the Kodak Ultramax 400 recipe from Fuji X Weekly, an X-T4 and the 18-55mm kit lens.

My sticky shutter button issue is still there and seems to be getting worse so I've booked the camera in for repair with Fuji before the warranty runs out in a few weeks. Does anyone have any idea of what sort of turn around time I can expect? I'm possibly going to a rally on the 12th March and would like the camera back by then.

That's a pretty cool pod (y)

In my experience 4-5 working days

Fuji were super efficient when I sent a lens back to them for some warranty work.

I'm late to the party but is the X-T30II a dick move by Fuji? Effectively paying lots of cash for a firmware upgrade? I'd be much more likely to keep buying glass for my current x-t30 body if I had a bump in focus speed and face/eye detect

I suspect that there may well be internal component changes. Some components become harder to find and manufacturers have to move on. But you are right not many people would upgrade from v1 to v2 in thsi instance.

Yeah, feels a bit like smartphones, its tough as they need to make money and I think all them are too afraid to charge for firmware upgrades so instead drop a whole new body instead
I'd be happy to pay ( if the x-t30 could accept it ) to keep it going

Yeah, they made a few of them for a while there - I'm still salty about the lack of classic neg on my X-T3 despite being X-Trans IV. I can understand that some older cameras can't do the processing involved or have different sensors, but there is absolutely no reason to deny the X-T3 other than to force people to buy the... Nope. I'm not gonna get into it.

Wooosahhhh.

Do you know the LR / C1 trick to get any film simulation on any Fuji camera? You have to shoot Raw but it can be done.

I do, thanks though. I remember doing it for lightroom and even though I don't remember doing it for C1, it does let me have classic neg so I think they enable it by default.

A Long Tailed Tit (I think?) shot from my home office window this morning. X-T4, 100-400mm lens. Not an expert in this type of photography at all, any tips for improvements? It was shot through the window glass which I know isn't ideal but I didn't want to scare it off by opening the window.

Is there any small combination that is similar size to the X100 range but with an articulating screen ?

I have m43 ( e-m1 mk 2 ) but I find I rarely take it out. Lenses are 20mm f1.7 and 25mm f1.4 . I like shallow DoF for car meets

Am on a budget but don’t really know the Fuji range - I saw the XPro1 but then read about “slow” AF

Any help / guidance appreciated..

The X-E4 with 27mm pancake kit fits this bill but it's £950. I don't think any of the earlier X-E cameras have any form of tilting screen. The X-S10 is actually roughly the same size as an X100V, but you'd have to budget for a small lens too

If you are on a budget then the X-T20 is probably the best bang for buck - its a little bigger than an X100 series camera though

X-t20 could be a good shout, thank you.

I need to research lenses and costs to see if it’s viable

Are there any 35/50 equivalent at f2 or f1.4 I should look for ?

Viltrox do 23mm and 33mm f1.4 lenses that are relatively cheap and have a good reputation. Sigma do a 30mm f1.4.

Fuji have the 23mm and 35mm f2 lenses which are weather sealed and tiny, but apparently optically very good.

Thanks, I’ll have a look
There's also the Fuji 27mm F2.8 pancake lens, which comes in an older, non-weather sealed variant and a newer, weather sealed version with an aperture ring. There's also the old Fuji 23mm and 35mm f1.4 lenses which can be had easily second hand, but aren't weather sealed and apparently have slow AF. People love them though, particularly the 35mm. Fuji have recently updated these lenses with new and very expensive weather sealed versions. I hired the new 33mm f1,4 over Christmas and it is absolutely stunning but it should be for £700

1) not bothered, I don’t use them tbh. I only used them when I tried a Helios on my e-m1.2
2) open to either
3) no preference. I don’t really shoot in the rain either

probably not much help

yep not helpful :ROFLMAO:

If you go for the X-T20 its not weathersealed anyway - so a weathersealed lens isn't a requirement. Then it comes down to size/weight and aperture (and the perennial elephantb in the room, cost :headbang:)

I have no direct experience of the Viltrox or Sigma glass, but I do know that the Fuji 23mm F2 and 35mm F2 are not at their best wide open, the more premium Fuji glass is very good wide open (but costs more)

If it was me I'd look at a one lens solution and if budget allowed I would go for the original 23mm Fuji F1.4, but otherwise settle for the Sigma 30mm F1.4 or Viltrox 23mm

Yesterday I dragged my son (and X100V) up a mountain.

Unfortunately the image quality seems to have taken a hit going from Lightroom -> Apple Photos -> TP.

It is a bit more than a firmware upgrade. However if like me you have the XT30 it is most likely not worth moving up.
However it has made a long wait for the XT40.

What could be added by a firmware upgrade has been given to the XT30.
