The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I agree with you, a 26MP X-T5s would be perfect for me

H2S with the 150-600
ISO 12800
I put it through pureRaw for noise reduction.
Had the camera lock up on me. Needed to remove the battery to restart it.
Super happy to get this the bird had appeared at my local pond. Just a walk across the road from my house.

Class Trevor. How does the X-H2 perform with the 150-600?

Quick wander round Clent with the Missus yesterday

Shot on the X-Pro1. Must admit, I’m wondering if I shouldn’t think about swapping out the X100v I have for an X-Pro3 - I really do like the form factor of the X-Pro range.

I’ve only tried the H2 in the garden on perched sparrows. Bird detection works the same as the H2S.
Tempted to try it on the Kingfisher. The extra MP would be useful for cropping.
Also considering a TC

Trevor do you have the 100-400 as well?

I've got a H2S, 33/1.4 and 100-400 coming on Friday to loan for a couple of weeks to see how it goes. Although I think I'd probably end up buying the 150-600 for better reach if I switch over.

No Pete. Never even seen one. Didn’t even consider it. I found out that for small birds reach is first consideration. I know the 150-600 has its detractors as its F8 at the long end. I don’t care. Works for me.

I like this Trevor, it looks mean and on a mission. (y)

Does anyone use lightroom to process raws on fuji or are there still issues with xtrans? Hoping to edit on my iPad a fair bit.

I use Lightroom. PureRAW as a plug-in.

I use LR 6.4 last of the standalones with both my X-T2 files and GFX 50S files I am happy with the results. I use the LR Preset for Classic Chrome with a couple of tweeks that I found on the web.

I use Lightroom Classic, with an import preset that dials down the standard input sharpening. I'm not sure if you can do that on the iPad version though.

I used to do most of my editing on an iPad and never had too many issues with it, have used Lightroom on Android a fair bit with the XH1 too.

Been doing a little bit of comparison (as much as I can) between the XH2 and similar bodies/lenses I've shot before, mainly with the local area shots I tend to use as a "test" with any new kit.

Been comparing some very similar shots with the Sony A7R3 & Sigma 35mm f1.4 to the XH2 with the "old" Fuji 23mm f1.4 and I have to say the XH2 comes out very well against it.

Excellent shot Trev, well done.

Yep, I'm LR only and 99% on my iPad and it's all fine. LR handles Fuji Raws just fine, if you're seeing "worms" then you're oversharpening. I could make my old Canon files show worms too if I went mad with the sharpening. LR Classic used to have problems many years ago but it's all resolved now, just one of those persistent things on the internet that becomes Gospel but isn't really true anymore. Everything I've posted on here since March is from a Fuji X-T4 processed from a Raw file in LR on an iPad.

Yes you can use presets in exactly the same way on an iPad. Using the masking slider also helps massively, so you're not sharpening OOF areas of the photo which is where people would see the worms when pixel peeping

Can't remember - does anyone have the Viltrox 56mm? Any thoughts on it?
I had one for a while. A lot of lens for the money, and I certainly can't fault it for the sort of photography I do (street), but if you are focused on sharpness, then spend a little more and go for the Sigma 56 f/1.4, which I changed to...now that' a real beauty of a lens and still way cheaper than the Fujis.

Viltrox 13mm f1.4 & 56mm f1.4 arriving hopefully tomorrow, had a decent discount code making it cheaper than buying used on ebay!

Had both Chris, the 56mm sadly went back as it got progressively softer to the edges and corners and suffered from a fair amount of purple fringing. Sharp as a very sharp thing in the centre though. Interestingly it has a USB B port for updates whereas the 13mm has a C port. I did ask the importers, AVM, whether I had an older version but didn't receive a reply. Its built like the proverbial though and I suspect my copy had dodged the QC department.

The 13mm on the other hand is a cracker. It is a phenominal lens and if you swapped Viltrox for FujiFilm ( the crafty tinkers have even put a Red badge on the lens!) you would be forgiven for thinking it was an OEM lens. The metal lens hoods on both are superb.

I was going to replace it with the Sigma 56mm but Amazon UK had the FujiFilm 16-55mm at £829 with 5 interest-free monthly payments. Had one before, sold it, wanted it again. Got it, and it is just superb.

I do hope that your copies are on the ball, they are truly exceptional value for money.

+1 for the Sigma. Stunning piece of glass.

Thanks - I did wonder about the Sigma

Cancelled the V56 given the relatively small cost increase it sounds like the Sigma would be better.

Thanks for the feedback
Very interested what the 13mm is like on the XH2

I was really impressed with it on the XH1 but keen to see if it holds up to 40mp, I believe it should as I've seen a few others talking about it.
It was a tough call between the 13mm and your 16mm you have for sale to be honest

So what is everyone's view on the X-T5? Will it really be the X-H2 in an X-T4 style body? Anyone have a view on what other differentiators there might be? I saw a youtube video posted this morning saying it's rumored next month.

Fuji Rumors say it’s going to be 40mp and no battery grip for it if. After that I reckon it’s going to be most of X-H2 although Fuji have said the H2 is the flagship so what if any they leave out is anyone guess.

I'm expecting X-H2 sensor in an X-T3 style body. I think that they will keep IBIS out to differentiate with the X-H series.

Would they make the jump in resolution or keep the 40MP sensor for the X-H2 flagship? I've only just bought an X-T4 so I'm only an interested onlooker, but for sports shooting 40MP is an active turn off. But they I guess for sports they want you to buy the X-H2s, which if I'd waited a few months is probably what I'd have gone for.
