The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Haha yeah it was a pretty funny day. Went from clear and sunny to rain like that several times on our 2 hour trip along the canals. The best part is that the controls for the boats are outside - that's why the guy is stood there looking like he's given up on life. Only seen rain like that a few times in my life!
Poor guy I've been caught in a few of those but mainly in South America and my home comforts

Mine got a thorough soaking in seawater - I was doing long exposure stuff on some rocks when a rogue wave washed over. At one point the entire camera was beneath the foamy stuff. Gave it a good scrub with a wet/damp cloth and toothbrush when I got home and it has been fine since - and that was with a non-weather sealed lens on it (Samyang 12mm). I've also used my 18-55mm very briefly in a torrential downpour (see photo). Granted, it was literally poked out from under the cover for a few seconds a couple of times, but it got very wet. I dried it off, and never had a problem with it.

I'm kinda between two ideas with it - I don't think weather sealing does as much as manufacturers would have you believe, but I also think you can get away with more than you'd think - In a similar way to my phone or laptop not being weather sealed. They would probably be fine in a light shower (in fact I regularly have to wipe rain off of my phone screen), and even if water does penetrate, removing the battery and drying them out would likely revive them.

Very nice harsh weather capture Jamie, well composed & presented.

"The guy on the boat sure does look understandably miserable" :)

As I have never taken out a X camera when it rains, what is the WR like on the X-T3 if I get caught in a down pour ?

I live in Wales and take my cameras out in all weathers but am mindful that WR means 'weather resistant' not weather or water proof.

I keep a small chamois leather in my pocket/bag to get rid of the bulk of the water, never close an extended zoom that has drops on it without wiping and if at all possible I keep as much under cover or under a coat as possible. Up to now lady luck has smiled on me!

I am not sure how FujiFilm would react, warranty wise, to any water ingress

(Whilst it has now been returned I was very impressed at the weather proofing on the Olympus OM D EM1 iii. My friend has one and regularly rinses it off under the shower. I will pass on that).

Thank you, I always have a cloth in my bag so if I did get caught in any rain then I'd just wipe it down, I did try the Olympus but it was not for me so has now been sold on.

I havent had a problem with mine and it was on Dartmoor on some rainy days. I try to not expose it to the rain overly but if you want to shoot then just use it as it is not made of salt.
My buddy @Topsy has an XT2 and the same applies. He uses the XT2 + 16-55mm f2.8 and I use an XT3 +16-80mm f4. Results from the 16-55 are slightly sharper but it doesnt have the reach of the 16-80.
As Jonathan says my X-T2 goes out in all weathers, the biggest problem I have is keeping the front element/filter clear of raindrops.

@trevorbray How do you think the new XF18mm goes against the XF16mm f1.4 ? As I am going to get one of them anyway just wanted your thoughts, not fussed on the close focus on the 16.
Honestly Dave. They’re both terrific. Make your choice based on the focal length you need.

Late sunflower, just about to come out (hopefully)... Heavy processing, but I thought it looked a bit more graphic, than just green ;)

That's a very nice capture Paul, with a good punchy mono presentation.

Nicely done. It's a fine line between stylized and overdone, and you've nailed it here. It looks professional, polished, the kind of thing you'd see used as marketing material on a poster or magazine.

My sunflowers have been duds this year. I have a couple that at least have a bud developing, but I don't think they'll actually bloom. Ironic really considering the amount of sun we've had this year!

Thank you, George. Always appreciated (y)

Most of mine have been too. Got one biggun, out of god knows how many. Most got hammered by the heat over the last few weeks, regardless of watering.

Anyone waiting for September 8th …?
X-H2…

I`m interested to see what it offers.

From Fuji rumours, it supposedly has a lot of goodies to offer. Still not convinced on the SPAM dial though. So I will probably be more interested in the T5 tbh

I get ya Bro.

From what I can gather. The H2 & T5 will be almost identical internally, so just the body styling choice. But that`s just me, being me ;)

I just want a T3 with IBIS. It'll never happen though, they seem intent on going with the flippy out screens from now on it seems.

Ooo, I like that!

Thanks, Ian.
Very cool mate.
Cheers, Dave.
Sure is a different styled capture Mate, but works very well in my book.
Thank you, George.
Always good to try new things. I think I'd actually prefer it just black and white as its an interesting ( what I assume self) portrait. Good composition and great depth from the tip of the nose to the ears
Yep, a selfie. I have more than enough plain mono`s, and wanted to try this PP. Not easy with a bush as a background haha

Just a quick Sooc X-T3 + XF33mm f1.4 wide open. Plus the XF18mm has been dispatched.

That's a very nice floral type capture Mate, that new lens of yours certainly seems to be performing very well.

Thank you George for the nice words, since the 33 has been on the camera I have not even tried the other two lenses.

:):) 33mm (50mm ish equivalent) has always been a nice focal length to work with in my book, probably something to do with my old film days when most cameras were sold with a lens that was considered to give the same angle of view as the human eye.
