The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Hi,

Thought this might be the best thread to ask this in as it's more an X-T2 question than an SD card one ... I'm 99% certain I don't need to (but asking just in case), if I use a UHS-II card in an X-T2, do I need to change any settings in the camera to get the faster write speeds? Boost is always on.
Just purchased a Sandisk 32Gb UHS-II card from Amazon and the speed before the buffer fills and the time to clear is identical to the Sandisk 128Gb UHS-I cards that I've been using for the past 5 years.
I suspect it's the card so it will be going back to Amazon for a refund but just thought I would ask first.
PS - yes it was Amazon supplied and shipped, not a re-seller :) . Doesn't look like a fake but then it's becoming more difficult to spot them these days.

Thanks.

You don't change any settings for memory card speeds. The memory cards will just store data as fast as the camera will allow so for example if your memory card has higher write speeds than the camera can write then it would be limited to the camera speed not the memory card. The same is true when it's swapped around with the camera being faster than the card then the card limitations will dictate the speed at which it writes.

There can be other factors into this that can have an effect on write speeds so this is just the simplest explanation to try and help with your query.

There are programs out there that check the read/write speeds of storage devices such as SD Cards, HDDs etc. You could always try that before sending it back. I've never used it so not 100% if it's free etc but one of the most popular ones is: https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/

Yes, I didn't think there were any other settings to change. I tried to keep my test as simple as possible to remove any external factors - manual focus, shutter speed 1/8000 and aperture set to a fixed value. Unfortunately all the other slots/readers I have are only UHS-I so I can't test the transfer speed and you never know if there are other bottlenecks in the pipeline that affect the results.
Going to see if I can swap it for a Lexar one instead - and may be get a reader as well this time :) .

Almost caught up on my backlog of spam - X-T30 + Viltrox 85mm. I love this lens, I was surprised by the quality of it when you take a small crop from the original shot, which will be shown in either my next post or the one after. It's also a nice focal length for socially distanced street shots.

Still loving the X-Pro 3, I've got it dialed in now and it's been a trusty companion:

Spent a week working in SLovakia, not much time off for taking photos, these were 'snapped' on the way back to the airport

Senec, Slovakia - many of Brutallist 1960's housing blocks, have been given a modern makeover, still these areas that often have 30-50 blocks in close proximity have an forboding menance to them! (all X100F+WCL)

Looks pretty depressing.

Nice. If it was more grungy then I could have said Chernobyl. Which reminds me of a joke but unsure I'm even allowed to say it on here :D

I'm sure this is what Pripyat would have looked like today had it not been abandoned all those years ago. (y)

This was snapped in an attempt to try something different but I kinda guess it might not be to everyones taste. :) :)

Just a simple candid street style Fujigraph taken at London UK of a busy street deliberately shot out of focus to try and create a kinda illusion of movement and the hustle & bustle of a "Busy Street".
