The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Ventnor Down was covered in Hoar frost yesterday. Was very winter wonderland.

The first one goes into my "If it were mine I would have a big print made and hang it on the wall" category. To me the different shades of the frost on the branches, the way in which that contrasts with the bracken below and the fall off of detail in the background due to the mist, make it special.

Figured I should post back after the forum’s advice. My XT-3 arrived the day after ordering and I had to wait until Xmas day to open it as my wife had kindly got me my first Fuji lens for Xmas. Took me a while to get used to no PASM and work out the Fuji way, but it was worth it. Love the system now, much better than my old FF gear in fact.

So far I’ve got the 16mm f2.8 WR and 35mm f2. I was thinking of the 16-80 f4 but I’m enjoying my two prime lenses so much I’m holding out for the release of an f2.8 16-80 with OIS. Fingers crossed for that one day (I’m sure it will be Uber expensive). I’m not really a prolific poster here, but wanted to say thanks again for the advice.

Great to hear, and look forward to seeing more picture posts soon :)

Got my Viltrox 23mm, and been out playing a little with it over the last couple of days. I haven't been using up to f8-16 for a little while but did today and found there must be a mark (or fluff - I hope!) on my sensor - damn damn and double damn. Any advice appreciated!
But I'm pleased with the new lens and here's a few...

Been snowing since 8pm and doesn't look like it's slowing down either.

Rocket blower, and APSC sensor cleaning kit will sort you out (y)

The Viltrox is looking good. The subject isolation on your dog is decent even though a 23mm. Is it quick to lock focus?

Really appreciate that Christopher, it is my fav of all the shots I took :)

Anyone here use the TT Artisan lenses on their X bodies?
They’ve recently launched a 50mm 1.2 which looks very tempting, and it’s super cheap!

I’ve currently the 50mm f2 on my XP1 and love it. It’s a great little lens. The 10-24 lives on my T-3.

Wow! Just been looking at the 7Artisans web page. There's some interesting looking lenses.

They do have quite a few on the market now for not silly money, and the general consensus is that they aren't too bad.

I find myself unusually tempted by their manual 35mm with the M42 look. :D

They’re certainly interesting options if you want to shoot wide open and aren’t a pixel peeper. You don’t buy a lens like that to shoot it at f11 after all.

Love that @Mark Dell but would you have been able to take a knee or get lower so that there was a tiny bit of separation between the two trees? That composition would be perfect with a tiny crop to even it out. Great mood to it.

I don't even think the focal length is wrong, of course I don't know what is in front of you but if you could just get lower I suspect you'd get the separation, it looks close as it is.

Happy New Year everyone.

It's no good - all I've done since November is carried the camera around with me - still not used it
Like new X100V back up for sale in the classifieds. Have also got a quote from MPB.

Time for some new wheels, and a lift kit then, I guess ;)
Sorry you`re not using it though ...

Testing out using off camera flash.

Really want to explore portraiture more. Love the black and white moody type headshots.

Anyone have any good books/YouTube channels/podcasts they would recommend for me to dive into? Doesn’t have to be specifically portraiture..

Note: Both models hated that I was shoving a giant octobox with flash in their face at 9pm at night. No idea why?

I used his video to shoot my wifes Linked In profile pic during lockdown when she was made redundant. Flash was balanced on a stepladder with a small 8" diffuser and an A1 peice of matt black card balanced on a chair behind her head. Took a bit of faffing to get it the right power/distance but was happy with the result.
