I have the same issue with x-t4. I think it has got worse since I updated to IOS14. So I’m hoping there’s an app update soon that will help.

Mine connects to bluetooth okay so I get geo tagging etc but it seems to need wifi for image transfer or remote live view which it simply won’t do at present.

I've ditched the app and now use a rav power hub if I need photos on my phone or ipad. Great for accessing images or storage when you're at work or on holiday.

The power hub creates it's own wifi that you connect to with your phone or ipad and transfer the images over. The power hub is also an sd card reader so it acts as a storage or backup for photos too. Pop the card into the hub, press a button and the card is copied to a storage device via the hub. I use a sandisk extreme ssd but I suppose a usb flash drive would work too. You then have a backup to the card or format the card to use again. Photos are available instantly on set for use via mobile, tablet or macbook etc.. and you can edit on site via lightroom to suit your clients. My wife uses an sd card reader on her phone but I prefer the ssd backups.

The power hub is £39.99 but it has discounts regularly, mine was £28. Black Friday is coming to amazon too so it may be really cheap. There's plenty of ssd available but lots of us already have these for storage anyway. This isn't a free option like the app but if you use it for work I wouldn't rely on the app at all.

it's this one

If you're not bothered about storage a phone sd reader would work. The hub with a usb stick or ssd will store files and give you backups.

I use this set up when I'm away and take keep transferring the sd card to the ssd drive via the hub. That way my camera cards are always free and if cards go down they don't take 100s of images when/if they do. I can then connect my ipad to the hubs own wifi when the ssd is connected and download/work on the images in LR on the ipad or on the phone. I've done all of this sat in a tent on Loch na Keal, it works brilliantly.

I also only ever use it as a remote when I forget my release cable. Then it's only really for timing waves.
The app does nag to update if you forget an update in camera though.

I know there's one of my cameras the app hates. I know it's not the t4, possibly the xh1 but honestly can't remember.

I also can't remember the last time I was able to visit the coast and shoot the sea and waves. Wales is a no go from today:(
I'm struggling to get out with the cameras. Getting fed up of going to the same places now, can't go where I want to and the places I can are absolutely heaving with people and idiots.
I'm surrounded by lockdown areas and tier2+. We're still a tier 1 but not for long. I've got 2 country parks by my front door and even they are busy, used to be able to walk around them without seeing anyone.

Stick in there. I'm hoping soon enough the restrictions will get lifted. I don't even know what tier we're on in Scotland as I just stay in except to walk the dog anyway.

Maybe it's time to try something new if you're bored of the same places? We should set up some kind of competition amongst ourselves of different things. Just for fun, you don't actually win anything but bragging rights. That might keep those who can't travel etc busy?

Thanks @YoshiK1. I'm doing as you, walking the dog and work.

I'm not a people person so not bothered about missing people interaction but I do love my own space, hence loving Scotland and Wales. I can got there for 2 weeks and not see a single person, bliss.
I've thought about doing a bit of street but I have to be careful not to catch covid and pass it to my wife (shielding). I'm only getting out with the camera on dog walking duties.
The parks here are full of woodlands (both country parks are really large) but I saw more than 100 people on a visit last week, normally see less than 5 or 6. They were queueing to get on the car parks ffs!

Marc was on about running a landscape type thing but I think something for fun will turn into something complicated with people moaning and whinging about this, that and the other.

You and Me are one in the same haha. Not a people person, love my own space and anywhere that's like Scotland I love. I'd love to hit Snowdonia one day. My Grandpa used to have a cottage on the Pembrokshire coast in Pen-Y-Cwm and I loved it there with all the surfing etc on Newgale and Whitesands beaches. I was a lot younger so wasn't into the countryside at that point but wish I was.

Just do what you feel comfortable doing and that fits in with your family life. It doesn't have to be street, you could just go and look for a new subject. One I've started doing is derelict things. That's working well with the on-going situation because no-ones around.

I have just finished most of our DIY list. Tiled the kitchen, building fences etc. Thankfully it's over for now but it's amazing how much the list grows when you don't work in an office haha.

It doesn't need to be a competition per se but more a task just to get people involved and increase the photo and post count in this thread :) We all win.
 
Here are some low light street shots from a few nights ago, taken on the x-t100. Low light is definitely one of my weaknesses although it is still something I really enjoy and would love to improve on. Could anyone give some tips? I rely on autofocus as I only really found manual focus decent on my old dslr, this camera does have a manual focus option, but the viewfinder is sh!te, and doing it on screen I haven't got to grips with yet. The photos are all at f2.0, with shutter speeds varying from 1/30 to 1/100. Perhaps for the still/slower subjects I'd be better off using a tripod and exposing for longer? Although a lot of my photos are rarely planned and a lot are based on 'looks like a good photo opportunity, camera out pocket, on, shoot'. I have ISO set to auto with max at 3200. The second image, the camera chose ISO 400, but the others are all 2000+.

You are local to me (I'm in Hartford nr Northwich)

You need to make a decision about blowing highlights for night-time photography, bright lights are very difficult to control, its often better to shoot in blue hour, after sunset as the overall lighting can be less extreme, and there is often more interest in the sky.

If you shoot with a tripod you have more options (as you can bracket shots), but handheld, you just need to set the exposure for what you want (in terms of highlights and shadows) and deal with high ISO in post.

God bless Fuji. I love 'em but some quirks are hard to understand. Why is it that if I choose to use back button focus, it moves the IBIS activation to the back button as well? It means that if I want a stabilised view finder, I need to leave ibis on continuous. I don't see why it doesn't work like every other camera I've ever used where you can half press the shutter to activate ibis/is.

I know that feeling. I`m itching to get some city, but London is a no no for me at the moment. Still thankfully I have my toys, amazon and a macro ;) Saying that I`m off on a CC jolly tomorrow, so more countryside pix to come.

I totally agree with you. Still need to try and get out. Fortunately I really like trees (not a hugger though);. Thanks, mate. I`ll try :thumbs:
 
My usb c port is starting to fail, I only gently plug it in for static Zoom meetings a few times a week but I'm noticing it's already loosening. Not good. I already had my hdmi port replaced after even less frequent use.


Zoom world problems.

I recognise these places.

I live a few miles from this house, a friend owns it. The old school house on The Drive, Apedale.

It's a fixer upper but it's a massive project and a listed building. She had the roof and clock tower done and lots of unseen stuff fixed but I think she's giving up on it, LOTS of money and more than the property will be worth to fix it up. It can't be knocked down and rebuilt either

I'm hopeless with woodland photography but trying to improve and work out what works and what doesn't. It's a tough genre and I really admire those who have got this nailed.

Took this last night. I forgot my tripod plate which forced me to use my 50-140 which has its own arca foot. Funny how being restricted often stimulates creativity. If I'd had use of wider lenses, I'd have probably been much closer to the building and using the pond in front of it as a foreground but I think I like this much more.

We were at a bird of prey centre the other week. I rarely bother photographing bird-on-a-perch type stuff but when I spotted a hole in the fence in front of this owl, I had to get the camera out.

Last one, I promise. This is SOOC. This is one thing I've come to love about Fuji. The output from the JPEG's is so often better than anything I'm likely to conjure up in lightroom. The boats just reflected what little light was around to create a great mood which really appealed.

Whats the going rate for a mint X-T3 on here ? Trying to decided between X-S10 - the viewfinder is the only thing that puts me off..

Must admit the XS10 sounds like a lovely little camera. I'd be quite tempted myself. But, as you say, the viewfinder doesn't sound great. The battery life would be a concern as well. I don't think you'd gain anything from trading up from the XT3 really.

Ah, gotcha. Well, I'm biased insofar as I love my XT3 dearly. I think it would probably give you the more hands on feel. It depends if that floats your boat or you prefer fewer dials. I know the flippy screen on the X-S10 might not be to everyone's taste. Performance wise I shouldn't think there is anything between them.
 
Back in Fuji land - found a mint X-T3 with 514 shots on it for £700 including a battery grip that I will sell - pleased with that and I can't think of a better camera for that money !

Thinking of adding a 15-45 as a wide prime and then an 18-55 + 50-230.
