Honestly, I only ever use one or other, with a hood on the chance of damage to the front element is non existent unless you're really careless.

Hadn't seen this as was on next page, but yup same here

I know the feeling, but there are seperate lenses where you can't get the front cap on with the hood in place, or it's really awkward and fiddly - the 35mm 1.4 when the 'coke can' is fitted for example [hence why they also include a hood cover]. Used to drive me nuts, but then I did a few shoots where I had to change lenses fast, and would just toss lenses into the bag when switching without either front or back cap on. A quick rocket blow once done and then at least rear capped, never had so much as a tiny scratch on a lens. You might be able to find some form of cover for the hood? Just need to find the right size

These cameras are surprisingly tough, my F has been in the wars, probably because I'm a walking trip hazard.

Tripped over a curb in the dark at Birmingham Christmas Market - camera body hit the deck hard, it was in my hand
Slipped and fell on mud near Corris in Wales, burying half the camera in mud, it was in my hand
Camera Lens hood hit slate rock very hard when I tripped/stumbled and fell in Snowdonia, breaking my ankle in 3 places, camera hood very seriously damaged, and major scratches inflicted to EV dial, it was in my hand

I reckon I have one of the most beaten up F's in the country, but as a camera it still works fine, its the user that is dodgy, anyway back off to Snowdonia tomorrow, I'll see if I can through it at some more slate :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Don't get too cocky, the species you talk of have a habit of bin dipping because they don't actually believe a word we say. You need further training, should have taken the boxes to the recycling centre.

Thanks Dave, it was a very drab day but fortunately the light picked up a bit and pulled the colours out of the rocks just at the right time.

Or maybe a few Leica cameras and still go round the world a couple of times, as once it comes through I might have to watch my heart beat :eek:

The Sony gear is like the V, it is staying.. But I might get another lens then once the virus calms down treat myself to a bit of time in Scotland or the Lake District.

It was a 1/100 shutter speed believe it or not - I know it looks like a long exposure

Looking good. Might have to sell on mt 85mm for the moment, was planning to rebuy it maybe later on, but this 56mm looks tempting - it'll be either or for me

56mm is a more user friendly focal length but I do love my 85mm too.
I think I'm just going to have to annoy my wife and get the 56mm anyway but maybe for a bit and try get it slightly cheaper.......... ease the blow shall we say :ROFLMAO:

I would hold for a bit, at least until we see some full reviews but, can't see there being any issues. They've done 3 bangers for the money to date
 
X100F owners, do you use the built in ND filter and does it do the job? Also, is there a "not so expensive" way of getting a filter thread on the end, as I would like to use a polariser from time to time.


I wish these Viltrox people would do a wide angle.... I have the Fuji 35 f1.4 & 90 f2, so something between 14-18 would be good.

used the nd for slowing water, cloud motion and in really bright sunshine to keep aperture low. Works well and not noticed any image loss that others have complained about, but I haven't used it at 2 , 2.8 etc. Probably used it no lower than 5.6.

Just buy a cheap hood and adapter from amazon and screw a polariser to it instead of a standard filter. That's what I do on the v and f.
