The dynamic range of the current top end Nikons (Z7 & D850) is astonishing. A friend of mine is a landscape photographer and he uses both, and very little PP, and his work often leaves me wanting.

There is no doubt that FF does give you more latitude, high ISO performance is better, and of course, if you want a narrow DoF, then FF is better.

Having said all of that, I wouldn't move away from Fuji. I just love shooting with the cameras, and I'm getting on top of my processing now too.

At the price are, a used X-T2 with the std 18-55 will make a great entry point.

Well the Viltrox 85mm has just landed.
First thing to note - my box was sealed with Viltrox tamperproof seals.
The contents of the box give the impression of new and certainly the lens definitely exhibits that too.

What a lump of lens it is, despite its heft it feels fine on the front of my XT-2.

Wide open it is plenty sharp and AF is spot on in bright contrasty conditions.

I will test it in anger later on but so far I am happy.

Heres a SOOC jpeg shot @ f1. 8

A lovely eighty mile ride out this morning on the amazing Silverwing 600, Loch Lubnaig (Central Scotland) looking beautiful as ever.

Lovely as always, How do you find your XE1 compares to the XP1? I have one on the way, I think 5 Fuji's should be enough now :)
 
As you may have read in my earlier posts I have just setup the Fujifilm XT-4 so looking for advice.

What cable release does people find the best for this camera.
I also have the 18-55mm kit lens, what would you suggest for something a little wider.

I use the iPhone app, or the self timer.

Hi Rick, yes the files output on the X-E1 is exactly same as XP1 (same sensor), it's a tad smaller body wise than the XP1, but nice all the same. Still using the X-E1, I love attaching the Samyang 135/2 to it as pic below;

You'll enjoy it Rick, you can pick up a X-E1 pretty cheaply nowadays - enjoy.

I just use the timer as well. For bulb mode I work out the exposure and dial the time in. I bought one of the old-style cable releases when I got my first Fuji. It looks cute but I’ve never used it. :D

10-24 is the obvious choice for a wider lens. I’ve never used one but it’s well thought of and currently has a pretty generous cashback offer if you like to buy new. I’m very close to pulling the trigger on one myself.

+1 on the 10-24. I've just purchased an X-T3 and went for this lens. I was deliberating between a 14mm or 16mm. 14mm being closest to what I was using on my FF Nikon (20mm).

I didn't need a fast wide lens so f4 was fine, and I must admit, the 10-24 is awesome. Very sharp, and the cashback offer really sweetened the deal over the 14 and 16mm primes.

Thanks, the 27mm pancake is what I was thinking of sticking on it, but I have a load of other lenses I don't use enough, so will stick either the 23 or 35 on it for now.

I am very tempted to get this lens too. So, this is the 1st version? Any problems with no Image Stabilisation? Did you use autofocus? (these are 2 worries of mine as I do tend to rely on them).

Yeah this is the Mk1 Viltrox 85mm.

Thime above image was shot using autofocus. The lens happily locks on with no little to no hunting.
If you are happy to push the ISO then this should be enough to counteract the lack of image stabilisation in the lens.

I shot the above portrait at f2.8, ISO 6400 and 1/250
and used the little flip flash for some fill.

Here's a different shot that has been mildly processed in PS and should showcase how sharp the lens is especially when stopped down a little.

Sorry I've only just seen this. The Mkii has a weight saving and maybe one or two other minor things but as far as I am aware they are optically the same. The downside would be that the Mkii will double the cost of what is on offer here, I suppose that only you can decide if thats worth spending the extra.
For me, I am more than happy with the original version, a slight weight saving is not something that would sway me to pay double.
 
Well Santorini it isn’t which was our pre-Covid intended holiday destination this week.

Thank God for a weather resistant X-H1 & 16-55mm. Think it’s going to come into its own for the next few Scotland tour days :ROFLMAO:

I only have the one spare and it's an official, but if I needed more I'd look to Ex-Pro or Patona

I find the Baxxtar reds as good as anything I've tried so far. I grabbed a couple in a hurry ready for a camping trip last year and I'm still using them regularly now.

take care with these.

I put 2 in my billingham as emergency batteries and one swelled inside my F. Only slightly but enough that I had a job to remove it. I always stick to gen batteries but thought I'd buy these rather than have £90 lying in a spare bag. I've replaced them with genuine.
 
Please NO PMs, but after getting the Sony RIV today I made up my mind, Fuji has been fatastic for/to me while I did all my singers/buskers/jazz shots, but times change. All the rest of my Fuji kit has now been cleaned so smoke free. As I have been out today, it will be going up for sale in the classified in a few days even the V and other bits, but only for a GREAT price so NO taking the P*** this time folks. All fantastic MINT condition, and as said NO PMs as if you do I wont sell to YOU.


PS: I`m waiting on MPB too.

wish you'd put this on earlier. Just bought a rather expensive benro tripod and geared head so my camera pot is now empty :(

They were only charged once from new. They've got good feed back on Amazon but my first experience was almost a disaster with them. Luckily I only had it in the camera an hour, dread to think what would have happened after a few hours.

Yeah, lithiums can be really dangerous, I used to own some high end lipo RC cars and storing the packs indoors always concerned me.

I know it sounds like I'm a weirdo but I even hate plugging them in on the charger. I always turn away when I switch them on to protect my boyish good looks, seen 2 batteries explode and it's not pretty. Always charge knock offs on the concrete floor of the garage too, don't fancy burning the house down with all of my camera gear left inside!

I've just added up the cost of my 12 gen fuji batteries and 4 for the xt4, need to sit down :oops: :$
