The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Haha was a genuine question. I'm very happy with my V. Just a good opportunity to fill up that camera find a bit whilst people are wanting to buy them ;)

I was looking to get another v for the t4 kit bag but didn't fancy the expense. The F came along so saved me the thinking time and the cash. The t4 and F are in one bag.

My V has it's own 'special' bags for 'special' days out
Weighs nothing and is super stealthy.

After using both the V outperforms the F and is more useable, especially working everything from the command dials when one handed. Flippy screen is handy when you're old and fat too.

It sounds like you're contradicting your original case against selling the F here :P

If it's good for you then good :). I need to get out and use mine a bit more. Been pretty dull and flat light days here in Glasgow recently which hasn't helped. Your images earlier were SOOC JPEGs or edited? They're all nice but really liked the field one. Reminds me of a field just down the road from me with a house at the top. Similar position. No leading lines though but will keep an eye for some eventually.

They were raw processed in lightroom. I shot as jpeg too but the shadows needed lots of work so it was as easy to use the raw and the fuji film sims. I risked velvia which I normally avoid because of the saturation. It was really dark in amongst the trees., very wet too, should've used a polariser. It was a scouting mission to find silver birch for foggy or frosty days. It absolutely chucked it down after I left the pylon:rolleyes:

This is one I took at the weekend with the X100V. On my phone it looks warmer than it does on my calibrated laptop. Hmmm. Anyway, I'm undecided on if I like this or not and will definitely be revisiting it. What do we think? Any CC?

I would leave it as it is, if you lift the shadows you will lose the tunnel effect which is what makes the shot in my opinion.

I'd prefer the top and bottom cropped off and zoomed in with the birch tree being more prominent. The bottom cropped to where the floor gets light to lead you in and the top cropped to get rid of the highlights. The black floor at the front stops the light floor from leading you in. The shadows need lifting on the sides and top. And get in front of those two thin trees on the front right to lose them. Or just lose the gappy highlights at the top and lighten the floor at the front. Not so much cc but that's how I'd treat it.

Woodlands is a right pain in the arse :p
That shot with fog or sunlight hitting that tree would be amazing. The tree in the centre makes a great shot. You need to get out if a sunrise hits that tree, especially for crepuscular rays.

This is similar to how my jpegs came out of the camera yesterday, hence the raw files too. I couldn't lift the shadows and keep the detail like raw. My local woodlands are too overgrown and overcrowded to get a tree isolated like this.

FML! I've been watching X100F's in black on the Refurb store in stock for the past few days.... now I'm ready to order, they have none left in stock.:mad:

Are you looking for a body only ? I've got a 23mm f/1.4 that I could do a deal on, if interested i'll add it to the classifieds as a bundle
I will be looking for lenses, but not particularly primes at this stage, and they will probably be via dealer trade-in if I buy a body cash. I'll know more next week when I should have a better idea on budget.... If I only get a tenner for my birthday then I'm screwed!!!!

I like it. Did you add any vignette in post?

Most of it yeah. I found that the trees on the left and right were distracting without it so I narrowed down the field of view.

Thanks :) I like it but I don't think it's the final shot. I will need to revisit it.

Woodlands are a pain in the arse haha and they're new to me. I was there for about an hour taking this photo. Quite liked it in camera and got home and was disheartened. I've done all sorts of crops on it and I felt none of them worked that well except this crop. This is why I was saying before that I needed a longer lens as the compression would have helped me with that. Luckily as I also mentioned before I've bought an A7RII for longer lens stuff so I will be revisiting this tree in better conditions as that day was just an out and about day on the bike.

I do have one with the sun coming through actually. I can't remember why I didn't use it so I'll look at it again and might post up a revision with that. :)

Thanks everyone for their feedback!

I find woodlands are very difficult, unless it's foggy or autumn, or both!

Ok I've got the sunlight version and worked it. I remember the reason why I didn't choose this one but I won't tell you so let me know what you all think and any CC always welcomed :)

EDIT: This looks overcooked on my phone but on my laptop it's perfect. Let me know if this is showing as too warm or saturated on the device you're viewing on please.

1 - The 3D printed thumb grips. Firstly apologies on being slow on this however the thumb grips aren't really working. The files garbage because its too thick to fit in the hotshoe and I've spend ages filing it down. Its too snug. I've modified the file and its not as strong. For that reason I'm not going to bother with them sorry. Battery protectors I can do as they turned out great so if you want one for price of postage then hit me up.

Have you tried scaling it down slightly in Cura? (or whatever slicer you use) I found mine to be a bit loose so I tried printing it scaled up a bit. First 2%, then 3% and finally at 4% it was a perfect fit.

I use Cura. I didn't scale it down as it was perfect sizing with the only problem being the flanges that are gripped by the hotshoe; they were far too thick. I ended up creating a model myself but when they were thinned down I could break the flanges off easily so wasn't strong enough and wouldn't trust it myself. I might revisit it and try scaling or thickening them a bit more though. Just need time to allow.

No laughing...........

Does anyone use an instax sp 2/3 printer?

I want something to connect to my F or V for those snapshot memories. I've got a large printer for 'proper' prints. Just after something to use for keepsakes for family days out etc..

I got an SP1 with an XQ2 a while back and have not really used it much. It is not a bad little printer, self contained, small to carry and prints are in the 'fun' quality bracket. I would think that the 2/3 have moved on a bit on the IQ front.

If it is completely portable that you want then they fit the bill but if it is to print off once back home then the Canon Selphy is a really excellent little printer with the advantage of much cheaper cost per print and very good print quality. Not portable per se unless you add a battery pack and a much larger footprint over the Instax's.

Gordon Laing on CameraLabs has done some good small printer reviews.

Just like the idea of portability and printing direct from the cameras.
The selphy looks to be a fair size, the square version looks ok but poor reviews.
As you say, it's more fun print photos than anything else. The mini size look nice wallet/purse prints too.

I'll take a look at Gordon's reviews.
Thanks (y)

We've got a Selphy1300 and an Instax Mini Link, the Fuji is a nice portable system, but the prints are small, teh Selphy produces pretty good prints and they are of a nice size, but as patr says its not exactly portable
I'll check with my wife. She will use it and have snaps she wants to pocket and give to others etc.. (y)

Looks lovely to me, I guess it depends on how you want it to look. I'd be very happy with that.

Couple (well 3) from Caen Hill Locks this afternoon while doding the showers.

Quite a nice place, the council have planted 1000's of trees in a nearby park, in a couple of years it will be stunning.
