The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I`m just struggling to find inspiration. Lucky enough to have a few things to snap, but any imagination has gone out the window. Plus I gotta pick another two for next week

I should really have dusted that old guitar before I started to take photo's of it!!

Great to see the photos on here, and which is not only helping you keep focus, but helping me (and I am sure there will be others) that is on a little downer with no inspiration.

I am thinking maybe if I played about with macro a little, but don't want to spend too much - are extension tubes any good, and any recommendations?

A couple of peeps here use third party one (or raynox), but I have the mcex-16 fuji tube ..
Bit of info here etc https://www.fujifilm.com/news/n141120_03.html I got mine used for a decent price, and think it works well.

I've used tubes before on my Canon gear and really pleased with the results. Alternatively you could reverse the lens, although you will need a lens with some sort of aperture control, not used that method myself. Third option is adapter and a cheap manual lens from a bygone era. Just bear in mind that macro lenses are optimised for s flat field and close focusing, but tbh I think you'd be hard pressed to notice unless being really critical.

I’ve been watching Tom Heaton messing around with macro on his Youtube channel. He’s got some cheapish extension tubes off Amazon because he is, like a lot of us, at a bit of a loss photographically. I might try some. Long delivery on non-essentials from Amazon at the minute though, (which is fair enough.)

And for those of a certain age (HiFi Adverts of the late 70's/early 80's)

My Hifi is still boxed up in the garage after the move here, along with my record deck and Celestion speakers. I'm trying to find the right place to put all the separates, and I also need to add a DAB unit...

Well get off yer arse, and get it up `n` running ;)
I thought about a DAB unit to replace my old fm tuner, but opted for a Sonos Connect instead. Works flawlessly, with my HiFi  I also added a couple of Ones to dot around the house.

Very nice Fujigraph, I’ve never seen anything like it before but its right on the music challenge theme.

George.
They were originally for recording in the early days, when recordings were done entirely acoustically, by playing into a large horn at the apex of which was the lathe cutting the record. A quiet recording meant a quiet record, and lower sales, and a conventional violin radiates in all directions, this is very loud in the direction the large horn is pointing.
Later they were played in dance bands, busking etc.
There were one string versions, also cello, and even a guitar. I believe only three guitars are known.
The violin sounds surprisingly good, smooth with just a hint of saxophone.

I've got some Sonos One's, 3 in fact. Guess where they are

Haha same as the rest of it maybe ;) Have a look at the connect though. It intergrates well imo.
I`ve got my main speakers, and then 2 "Ones" by the patio doors as a stereo pair (for sunny garden days). No lag between them and the hifi either.

Sadly one of my lenses has to go, maybe ... the Laowa 100 or the Fuji 35 1.4. I've tried to hold off on having to buy a new laptop for months now, I had it cleared out, physically cleaned internally, got a new power board and keyboard fitted but it's the video card that is dying now [as well as the monitor being shot, it's hooked up to a HD tv so basically a thrown together desktop] - it's also slowing to a crawl during any kind of photo processing. I'm putting both lenses up locally and letting fate decide. Whichever goes first will fund a new lappy, I'll replace with something cheaper whenever possible. The Laowa might be the obvious choice to sell, but it's the one I'm actually using the most by far right now - the 35 should sell easier. If neither goes, I'll soldier on and try save for a laptop on side. I won't sell on here as I'll get more locally and don't fancy shipping abroad right now either way

If the 35 does sell, I've spied that the Viltrox 35 1.4 is on the way very soon [end April] unless that rumor was an April fool's yesterday? if not, it'll be pretty cheap and I'd expect it to be decent going on their 85mm 1.8. If the Laowa sells, it's easy to get an old vintage macro lens to replace it, won't be near as good for other uses, that Laowa is just excellent at all apertures and distances - but strictly for macro you're stopping down a fair amount and it's hard to find a macro lens that isn't sharp f/5.6 - f/11 - also, as nice as it is to have 2:1 capability, I'm mostly using the lens from 1:2 to 1:1 - DOF just gets so stupidly thin beyond that unless you like to stack, which I don't bother with

That sucks, mate. Why does tech always go wrong, at the wrong bloody time. Hope it all works out.

I'm out of the kitchen at last so here is one for the music theme. Sadly, I can't play but this violin is mine, just one of the items form my vintage collection of bits and pieces.

The laptop is pretty old at this stage, [7yrs I think] It was a pricey one when I did buy it - had a lot more money to spare back then! which is why I've not replaced it since, got poorer over time :D It's still running, I'm on it right now - but when I go to watch some Netflix or play a game or whatever, it'll glitch and sometimes freeze up - really frustrating. Only so long I can stand that. Also LR slows to a crawl if I load in more than a handful of RAW files at a time, and will often just freeze for a minute after performing any kind of remotely complex action [adjustment brush being one in particular] I figure it's easier replace a lens than buy a new laptop so selling a lens it'll have to be. Lenses will be no use if I can't process the images from them :(

Lovely - almost ghostly feel to this image, like something from a Kate Bush video :D

Hope you find a good one, at a good price mate

There's a Dell refurb shop that sometimes has ex display/ end of contract stuff at a reasonable price.

Trying hard to keep my hand in on the photography.
This particular shot has been well documented to the point of being beyond cliched but hey I am bored!

Tweak the setup to add in the second heart shape by back lighting the book with a torch with a zoom head so I can narrow the bean right down.

Now time for a quick apology - the book of choice was an Autobiography by Billy Connolly and the page I selected was the middle of the book. Only after edting did I notice some of the words on the left page......ooops!!!

Anyway here you go folks

I love the choice of book lol, makes it much less cliche and more of a p*** take on this usually cliche type image :D

Just a simple tourist type Fujigraph taken at Hythe Kent UK of a whole bunch of old Skulls on a rack in the crypt at St. Leonards Church.

Thank you Keith, didn't think of that but double exposure does tend to create that kind of effect :)

Loving the sharpness of the new Fuji X100V lens :) Colours are great too.

Nice car Riz, but it has no soul...... I guess we'll all have to get used to them eventually.
