The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

X100V

Although I was worried about the loss of D-Pad, I've just looked at the functions I have assigned:-

Drive - This is a fixed button and is relocated to another button next to view finder
Custom Setting - Film Simulation setting - I could loose this - as I mainly process the RAWs anyway.
AF mode - single/zone/wide - I could happily do this through Q menu - I'm normally in single point mode
Face/Eye Detection - Again I could happily do this through Q menu

So my initial reservations about losing the D-Pad, I think I can live with, especially considering the improvements:-

Tilt Screen
AF Performance
WR
Improved EVF

The only thing I don't know if they have done is implement the Store By Orientation AF point, which I use a lot on the X-T2/X-H1 and was missing on the X100F. It would absolutely seal the deal if its there, but again I could live without it.

Currently looking at how to re-jig my existing kit in order to place an order. My existing X100F won't be worth a lot, as its a bit bashed about, having been in two falls, and half buried in mud! It certainly has some battle scars (significant marks to baseplate and to exp comp dial), so I'm thinking of just hanging onto it, or leaving it with the WCL permanently attached.

Give it a few days and we might see if Fuji offer any trade in promotions............
Just a matter of when not if then David :-)

My other obsession -- motorcycles. This is the second 2-wheel machine to add into our garage......love them!

Picked up this 2005 model Honda Innova 125cc Scooter last month and only now getting round to having it ready for it's MOT. One owner from new and a total of 1250 miles on the clock since new, virtually a new machine, but hasn't been ridden since 2014, required tinkering.

Reminds me of the old Twiggy advert ... "You meet the nicest people on a Handa" :)

Loving the picture, X-T.. wing? I can even see X2T2 in there ;)
I love seeing what people can do with Photoshop (I do not have the patience!)

Haha thanks, Donna :) If only I had another camera, I might have been able to conjour something up.
XT Wing and the Canikon Death Star lol

Playing with PS again;)
Got a model for my B Day so thought it deserved a pic ...

“Cracking” Fujigraph, nice idea & well presented.

X-Pro1 or X-E2? I'm keen to try a rangefinder-style camera with dials, which leads me to Fujifilm, and as I always buy used, I'm looking at these two cameras. Seems that about £200-250 gets either of these. (Whereas the X100S/T seem to retain their value for longer.)

The primary difference seems to be the hybrid viewfinder. Are there any issues for someone who has to wear +2 reading specs? I think I read that the X-Pro1 requires a screw-in diopter, but that's no deal-breaker for me.

Anyone had both and got any advice?

(Polite cough)

Anyone?

I may be wrong having not owned an X-pro1 but i though it had limited or no diopter adjustment?

I have an XE2 and XT20, I prefer the handling of an SLR type, rangefinder viewfinder feels a bit odd to me being off to one side. Having said that I have a couple of prints hanging in my house taken with XE2 and I haven't printed anything from either film or digital for years but I really liked the image the XE2 created and I've only used it about 4 times, so print to use ratio is at present very high.

I also have both types (A7 and A6500), and slightly prefer the top-left rangemaster viewfinder placement to the centre-SLR-prism position.

Id skip both and get an XT1.

Not a rangefinder-style and no optical viewfinder. There are reasons to want one, you know! :)

Yes, I saw reviews on that. So I'd just get the screw-in type (standard thread, it seems). The engineers fixed this for the X-Pro2, IIRC.

XE2 doesnt have an optical viewfinder ;)

I personally found the XP1 OVF a bit rubbish, depends on lens.

You are right. The OVF/EVF hybrid is the reason that the X-Pro1 is in the running. I want a top-left EVF, at the least, so the X-E2 is certainly the simpler solution. (The X100-series I ruled out because of the fixed lens.) The advantage of an OVF for me is being able to see the area just outside/around the image.

How long did you have the X-Pro1? And did you quickly gravitate to its EVF because your lens choice made the OVF hard to work with?

Has anyone got the genuine Fuji MHG-XT10 handgrip for the XT10/20/30 and can confirm the weight please? I've asked Fuji but they've come back saying it's 338g which sounds very high to me as it's nearly the same weight as the camera, and figures online range from around 70-90g.

I can weigh one a bit later on, its on my wifes camera which is downstairs as I'm upstairs with a broken ankle so bear with me (sounds of man with one leg falling down stairs......)

Thanks very much, although please don't go to any trouble. I'd hate to be the cause of a tumble downstairs

Camera World are doing 50% off the WR kit and/or leather case on pre-orders of the X100V

That’s correct, and I think the OP alludes to this. Though the genuine Fuji correction lenses are scarce, Voigtlander ones fit and are just as good.

Toby, it’s actually the Meier grip that we have, copy of the Fuji one, it weighs 79g
OK thanks for that much appreciated. I'd be surprised if the Fuji one weighs 4 times as much then.
