The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Does anyone else use an X100 with the XT setup? At the moment am reluctant to get the 23mm f2 lens as that duplicates the X100 (especially as I have the 16-55 and may well get the 10-24). The X100F (and T before that) got a lot of use, as I was fed up taking the D750 out with me, and the X100 fits into a belt pouch so I can travel bag free if needed.

Did you find that you used your X100 less or would you still take it out?

Should have a 50mm f2 coming on Monday, also the 50-230 (got this for the occasional air-show as a bit of a no brainer at that price!). The 16-55 is excellent and am probably going to shift the 18-55 as a result.

I have X100, X100F and X-T2 and my wife has X-T20, between us we also have 23mm F2 and 23mm F1.4 lenses. I use the X100F a lot of the time, unless I'm on a photography 'adventure' or I know I'll definitely want to shoot wide or long, then I'll take the X-T2. I've taken the X100F as my only camera on City Breaks, holidays etc and not regretted it, its a fabulous thing.

I have to admit I have been looking at the X100 series for a while but will it give me anything over my XE2 or XA2 and a small wide prime.?

I would say yes (some others might not), but until you own and use an X100 series camera, you won't 'get it', it is amazingly versatile (especially considering it has a fixed lens), is lightweight, and just a joy to use, it really gets out of the way and lets you get on with taking the photograph.

Went out yesterday to the music hall and it was red hot, even with a breeze at the beach it did not help. So only stayed out till 8pm and then came home, two shots of Aimee and one of Sarah X-T3 and my favourite lens XF90mm f2.

I had the X100s for a bit, didn't make much use of it but always sorry I never held on to it as an always on me type deal. 23mm isn't my favorite FL, always find it a bit wanting, like I need something longer or wider. 35mm APSC is more my style and for wide I like 16mm. But, I did enjoy the overall feel of the camera, they are a pleasure to use.

How do you find the 16-55 in comparison to any equivalent you may have used for dslr?

I find it much better than my Nikon 24-70. Smaller and lighter, and definitely sharper wide open. I guess the only down sides are the DOF isn't quite as good but I knew that going from FF to DX and that on a personal note I am not keen on lens getting longer as you zoom (the Nikon did that a teeny bit but not as much). Still got the kit 18-55 and torn between selling to fund a 10-24 or keeping as a lens when I really need to be lightweight.

I had the older non VR Nikon 24-70, and I definitely prefer the Fuji over that one. Even though it's not internal zoom, it doesn't extend by much and the zoom action is buttery smooth. The only negative for me with it is that it doesn't focus quite as close as I'd like. Not having OIS isn't an issue for me as I'm using the X-H1 and it really feels nice on there.

The 10-24 seems very popular, looks a good lens but it's not for me. 16mm is about as wide as I'll ever need, but for those who do like their ultra wide shots it's probably the best option available - the 8-16 is just stupid expensive

I change my mind on the wide aspect all the time. In my DX days I did have a Sigma 10-20 and then in FF a 16-35 for a bit. The 16-35 got a decent amount of use, especially on 1st trip to Disney as often you are close to characters etc... but ended up with a 20mm which I only used occasionally - good lens but often too wide! Getting the 10-24 makes sense but it wouldn't be a main lens so unsure if I want a lens of that value not doing a lot! But the other day in Cambridge I did want wider than the 16-55! I guess what I would really like is the 16mm 2.8 but as a 14mm - then its a few hundred lightweight lens (I mean a cheaper 14mm than we have along the lines of the 16/23/35/50)

Is it worth breaking this thread up into 2 threads - images and camera specific. Although search is ok, it can be a pain trying to trawl through the pages to find stuff about a lens or body, they also get lost amongst the images - thoughts?

Very nice set of candid street style Fujigraphs, liking this set very much.

It's the gear section so an image only thread would likely get moved to the images section. I'd actually prefer if threads were more combined, the XH1 should ideally be combined with this thread. The only difference is the build and IBIS really to the XT2

Agree as at the end of the day, it is an X series (y)

Sadly the OP hasn't been seen since 2017, but then who added in the X-T3? I think the H1 could be added in without much fuss. As is maybe allow X-H1 images in too if nobody complained? I don't think it would make much difference as the H1 thread is not exactly very active as is

@Cobra might be able to help out.

I would suggest all T and H cameras should be added. the XT10 is there but thee XT20 and XT30 not yet. though I and others post about them here as they obviously belong.
The XT30 shares so much with the XT3 that is would be pointless not to. Image component wise they are Identical.

Fuji XT and H would make a good title :)

I did ask a while back but what I was told is they can't merge long running threads, I asked in the wrong way though maybe. Just a change of title would be sufficient so long as H1 users didn't mind coming in here instead. But as far as I know, the only ones keeping that thread alive other than me, are also XT/1/2/3 users too.

Completely agree, we're all shooting the same format just different bodies. The Sony thread covers all Sony ML APSC and FF and I think it's the reason it's one of the top threads on here.

I hope the Mods can change the title to XT and H

If that's what you guys want? its certainly tidier than listing out all the models. (y)

The problem with merging long running threads is, posts across the board they merge in date order posted, and not per thread. The thread itself becomes very disjointed, with no continuity whatsoever.
And don't forget that these threads are also used as a reference, for people thinking about making a "Jump"
They are not just for showing off you know :D

If it`s ok then I think XT and H would be better.

It is not a question of merging threads. It is. Only about making this thread inclusive. FOR XT&H CAMERAS. the existing H. Thread could continue though most likely wither on the vine. Even if the. Name is not changed people could Vote with their feet and simply post here as they do now.

I`m happy with that (y)
If it`s not too much work to leave the individual ones running in tandom, then we can see what gets posted in the new titled thread, and go from there.

:plus1::agree: to that, been my thoughts & opinion for ages. “Let’s Go For It” !!

Personally I think you need two Fuji threads
one for X100 family cameras and one for the ILC cameras (X-T, X-H, X-E, X-M)
If you want to start afresh, with that, I can always lock this one with links to the new threads as a final post, so people don't post all over the place?

Fight among yourselves and let me know which direction you want to take (y)
