The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

ok, after a long play with photoshop, and not being able to get the image back into lightroom, i opened the edited image in photoshop instead, and added the extra real estate. It does look much better now, but found if very frustrating on a 15 inch laptop editing it...

Nice one, mate  Maybe shift the boat a little to the left (but that`s just my opinion ;))?
I can imagine editing portrait on a small screen can be super frustrating.

Yeah, the rope is a bitter sweet thing, gives a nice leading line, but makes it difficult for symmetry with the boat...

Yep I meant the 80mm

Yeah, tricky one that. Best of luck, but at least you`ve got more space to play with now ;)

One of the reasons I always crop portrait images to 4:5

Well well well......i never thought I would be drawn back to this group but after a sabbatical and much toe dipping with Sony, Olympus, Nikon and Sony again - I think my true desire still rests with Fuji.

I'm 40 next month and the wife has agreed I can get a camera. The XT3 plus lens is out of reach budget wise but was thinking an XT2 plus lens would be do-able.

Albeit a few years old I presume the XT2 is still a good performing camera and doesn't lose out on much to its younger sibling?

Just took the XT-2 to Norway and it was an absolute dream, just got home a few hours ago and I can’t wait to get into editing them in C1.

One from ages ago. I spotted a shot by the wonderful Nick Green on Flickr and thought "I took a shot from there, too". So I revisited mine, changing it from the B&W I originally processed. XT1 and 12mm Samyang, I think

Great shot. I like/have the Samyang 12mm but thinking if I need the 10-24mm or not. The 12mm is a super lens for the money.

I really like my 12mm but it has not been taken out since I got the 10-24. I'm happy to use long primes but at the short end those few mill make such a difference that a zoom just makes more sense for me.

#2 is a cracker, mate. Great timing.

Cheers Paul appreciate it, I was waiting for a while to get just a couple of people in the shot the bloke at the top was actually taking pictures.

Great set. No 2 is my favourite

Cheers mate appreciate it.

What a great set! #2 and #4 are my favourites but I would be chuffed to have taken any of those (y)

Thanks Andrea appreciate it.

Number 1 for me....

Cheers Darrin thanks for taking the time to comment.

It works for me, mate. I wonder what his came out like, asuming he was shooting the figure walking along the light strip.

Yes Paul he was, presuming he was a street guy doing portraits. He was there for longer than I was so he goy a fiat few and nobody seem that bothered they where having their picture taken.

That`s cool. It`s nice when you can happily be in your own little bubble :)

Thats something I must have a go at, take it use the stacking feature to take the shots?

I just use PS to stack. Tripod, and single point focus, then shift it around until I`ve covered most of what I want in focus. Bit adhoc, but it kinda works for me ;) In PS I open all the images to stack in ACR. Do usual adjustments etc, then they open in PS. Go to file/scripts/stack. Click all open images, then edit/align, then edit/stack ... make coffee while it does its thing, then flatten and adjust as needed.

The XF 60mmf2.4 has stunning optics and can be used with tubes.
If you want 1-1 life size or greater there are several options the Fuji XF 80mm f2.8, Zeiss Touit 50mm f2.8.
Also most other macro lenses can be adapted I have Nikon 105mm & 60mm f2.8 D lenses that work well with focus peaking activated it’s all pretty easy.
also look out for Vivitar mf 90mm or 55mm macro lenses or perhaps Sigma Tokina or Tamron to name just a few that can be adapted

Well it certainly works. You haven't tried the focus bracketing in the camera to take the shots?

Cheers, mate.
No, I didn`t even know you could, but sounds a bit complicated for me ;)

Like Mr P said the basics are quite simple the only thing you have to input is the steps the camera takes between the shots. The smaller the step the more shots the camera will take, what the step size is I haven't the foggiest. Hopefully someone with more knowledge (Mr P) can help you there.

The step size is is just a number to alter size of steps, there is no 'scale' to it, so best just to play about. Kevin Mullins did quite a good video when the feature was first released.

Cheers chaps. I'll have a look into that
