The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Fully agree. There are also 3rd party ones - I'm currently waiting for one from China which allegedly has a contoured plastic finger hold, like the genuine Fuji one but half the price.

The Meike ones are supposed to be very good and much like the Fuji ones.
I had an iShoot one, but the hand grip was uncomfortable and didn't fit well with the camera grip

Lack of a folding screen kills the Pro line as an option for me. So useful for both landscape and street work, my two main interests...
I thought that for landscapes, but in reality I didn't use the folding screen much. Might be different for candid street though.

I had a X-T1 and hardly ever used the tilting screen, have on occasion wished I had it, but those times are few and far between.
The viewfinder position makes it all worthwhile and that rules out the XT models for me.

I certainly wouldn't fancy returning it to Hong Kong - you can just imagine the faffing about when they deny having received it.

That’s what I’m going to do and lesson learned, would cost around £25 to post back then would have to meet their deadline.

For £75 would rather deal with Fuji and at least I know it will be sorted.

It is *very* useful for candid street, as people assume you're just messing with your settings. :-)

But it's good for landscape in two ways. One is when you're working very low, and don't have to lie on the ground to see what you're doing, usually with a wide angle. The other is a bit more lateral thinking, but if you don't need a tripod, it's surprising how often you can get better separation between picture elements by holding the camera over your head. I've had quite a few shots like that where without a folding screen I would have had to rely on trial and error. YMMV, of course. If you mainly shoot at head height or thereabouts, it won't matter very much.

I use the over head height option that the T's tilt screens offer to reduce the converging verticals that using a wide angle often introduces. Unless I'm deliberately emphasizing the low viewpoint, in which case I tilt it the other way.

Having said that, I tend to use the Pro for wide angle landscapes since that's the body that the 10-24 lives on.

Yes, I can see that. Unfortunately with my prescription I find it difficult to focus on the screen at an arms length. It’s between close-up and distant.

When you have a bad back, you will never want to be without a fold out screen again!!!

My back was really bad on Sunday (Brooklands Mini Day) because I spent most of Saturday cleaning the car. I could of only got this POV using the screen....

At my age, I have the bad back. And knees. And shoulder (one’s been fixed). Eyes trump them.

On the occasions when I want to use the camera in an awkward postion the remote app comes in handy.
Most people have a smartphone, although I didn't until recently, but did have a tablet which was even better screenwise.

Admittedly no good for street, but that doesn't affect me, never do anything like that

Sheffield Cathedral to name but one. Wish I'd thought of that at the time. Comes in handy with the 100F that has no fold out screen!

Indeed, quite strange sensation though looking down onto a phone at an image of something directly above you.
Used it a few more times since then, it really is very handy at times especially when me poor old back is a bit stiff

That's true. I never think of using the app, although I was impressed with whoever it was used it to trigger the camera at his bird table...

Good point. Must try it sometime.

I haven't used the app to shoot for ages. Need to get out and play with it more often...

Another one from a couple of years ago - Fuji XT2 & 16-55
Been playing around with some of these older shots to see what difference has been made with the RAW development packages.

This ones's ended up getting an Explore on Flickr!

The Beat (yellow and black) v FC Boukir (light blue and white) by David Young, on Flickr

Shot some amateur football this morning - here's one of the pics - slight crop but otherwise straight out of camera.

A couple of the ones I took last week were used in the paper during the week and I can see this being my go to combo for Saturday morning amateur football, not having to lug my 1dx with 400 f2.8 across a park with half a dozen pitches on it is a major plus.

Also tried the x-t2 as a remote camera behind the goal, fired by pocket wizard plus-x mounted on hotshot of my 1dx - works really well and quality of files is good - only thing is 18mm is a bit tight for most of the professional football grounds I shoot at so might have to get myself a 15-45mm to try out for the remote.

I just joined the forum as I'm keen to get into Fuji after losing enthusiasm for Sony cameras' handling. I posted a Wanted ad in classifieds. But also wondered if anyone knew where I might buy a used 18-55mm lens and a used X-T10? I'm near Liverpool but nearest stores with a body is Cambrian Cameras in Colwyn Bay N Wales and Harrison's in Sheffield for the lens.

There's an XT10 and 18-55 for sale in classifieds now.

The op is probably not eligible to use the classifieds yet Sir, as he's only just joined TP and would need to get his post count up first.(y)

George.
