The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Made the mistake of visiting the LCE show today in Southampton...every time I end up lusting over an X100 series cam! This time was even worse though as they had an X-Pro 2 with official grip fitted - wow, that thing handles very nicely in that configuration. And the OVF with EVF window is amazing. Darrrgh someone take my card away :D

I've come back to the fuji. x-pro 2 delivered saturday. sure does feel like a solid camera. only gripe is the smaller evf compared to the xt2.

Anybody have a recommendation for memory cards for an XT-2? I'm looking at UHS-ii Sony in 64gb flavour but hesitating a little as they're £69 a pop and I'm wondering if they'll make any difference to me if I never shoot long bursts. Does using a regular high speed UHS-i card for normal shooting slow things down generally?

Ha! Indeed so :). Thanks for the catch, I checked and although it was less than half a degree off (according to LR), it makes a visible difference. The problem was that I didn't want to lose any of the bottom edge, so in the end I skewed the whole image slightly to lose some of the top right instead. Hopefully you won't tell anyone  :D. I've replaced the one in the original post upthread if you want to see the result. Page refresh may be needed...

I probably wouldn't have spotted the (non existent!) skewiness if the horizon hadn't ended up almost aligned with the top of the page as I scrolled down. Much better now, because once a flaw is spotted, it leaps out at me. (Coincidentally, I'm 1/2 watching the "Oceans" series on the Red Sea and their camera is on a significant skew!)

Personally, I use SanDisk cards (had failures with another brand or 2) and as fast as I can afford. Memory is so affordable these days (not so long ago, your £69 would have got you 512MB...) that going cheap isn't worth it.

I have a couple of Lexar Professionsl 150mb/s 1000x SD HCII 32 GB cards in mine. They seem fast enough for me, but then I don't do video.
I believe that there are now faster cards than these available, but I've not seen any reason to change. They will hold over 600 RAW files or over 3,000 normal sized JPEG files and that's more than enough for a normal dayout for me.

Cheers Nod. It's about £140 overall vs about £60 if I were to go for UHS-1 cards. I'm okay with the cost as long it's going to make an appreciable difference to speed of operation. If it only matters once buffer is filled, I may save the £80.

Cheers. The Lexar cards are on my radar too though getting much harder to find now.

I did use a UHS 1 card in my T2 when I first got it. I can't remember the details but that was not ideal. I think it was the playback that was a bit temperamental. Once I went to the UHSII cards the problems went.
My advice would be to get the newer cards even if they cost more.

Yeah, I think I'm leaning that way and first hand experience like your's helps the decision a little. Many thanks.

Just a simple Macro/Close Up Fujigraph of a Feather of some sort laying on the grass in my garden. (This is the colour version of a posting I did in mono).

I understand the 80mm macro is shipping in th UK this week, anyone ordered it?

Not too many more Marloes Sands pics, I promise. This one is a bit more clean and crisp than my usual dark and dramatic style. But it gives a better idea than the others of what it's really like, so long as you imagine a very long stretch of golden sand behind me. Check the size of the rocks in the background. It's like they split away from the cliff and slowly walk down the beach. Which in terms of geology may not be that far off the truth...

Quick lightroom question re my XT 2 files. I shoot in raw plus jpeg to speed up any post processing. I'd say 80% of the time I go with the JPEG with minor tweaks in lightroom. My question - after I've edited a fuji jpeg in lightroom and want to export the finished product (also as a jpeg) should I apply output sharpening? I guess another way of putting it is - do fuji in camera jpegs already have output sharpening applied? Cheers for any insight

I’m sure they do. I never feel the need for any additional sharpening.

This is the kind of shot I do love the 10-24 for

"Cracking" Fujigraph Sir, well composed, with some beautiful colours.(y)

Agreed on all counts.

Lovely shot, particularly when the jetty isn't the most pleasant looking. Don't think the hills in the BG help with the horizon looking off either as they run down from left to right also. Probably the smallest of adjustments to do.

I've posted a varied set of shots taken during a TP gathering in Glen Coe this last weekend in the Landscapes section of the forum. This is the pick, taken on my X-T10, 10-24mm and Firecrest 10 stop ND.

Just a simple candid street style Fujigraph taken at Folkestone Kent UK of some folk enjoying the sea view. This snap will also be part of a crazy personal project I'm working on.

Guessing that wasn't recent ? Too cold for being on the beach now :D

Just a test with my old new laptop and Rawtherapee. Old/New is an old Toshiba laptop that had stupid windows on it but got so fed up with slow slow updates I now have a very fast laptop that boots up in less than 15 seconds and I got some nice editing software too, as now have Linux Mint on this one. First time picking up the camera too since my trapped nerve.
