The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Yeah I thought it was a good price. The body and lens were a kit and the lens is the mk2 version. That lens is the Fuji XC16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OIS II and the other is Fuji XF55-200mm f3.5-4.8 R LM OIS

SO chuffed I spotted it when I did.

Matt

Hi,

After a long time away from photography, I have just bought a Fuji setup. Fuji XT-10 body, Fuji 16-50mm lens and Fuji 55-200mm lens all for £560. All in immaculate condition and fully boxed. Does that sound a good price?

Matt

Ah you found us :) I just linked you to here in the other thread. If it is the 55-200 you got, then you got a right good bargain. That lens still goes for £350 - £400 used alone

Yeah definitely that lens. Seems I was very lucky then. :fuji:

Hi Matt, welcome to the X family that is a great deal you got, so looking forward to seeing some photos :)

Want to keep the lenses in good nick so can anybody recommend a filter to put over the lenses that won't alter quality but will protect the glass?

Matt

Ive just updated the firmware on the body and the 2 lenses aswell and the updates say it improves the OIS so should be brill.

When I use a filter I stick to what I use to have on my Canon lens, Hoya :)

GR8 choice and price (y) sounds like you picked up a real bargain.
I have a similar kit packed into a small bag XT10 XC16-50mm 50-230mm and a 8mm fisheye I find it covers most of my day to day shooting needs and its light enough to take anywhere.

Ok will have a look. What size thread are they on the Fuji?

Matt
58mm & 62mm for the longer 55-200mm i would go for a UV filter as opposed tp skylight filters i.e.; 1A or 1B
Personally i only fit a filter when required in wet or dusty conditions. But i always use a lens hood correctly fitted :) and not still reversed on lens when in use.

Cheers for that. Will have a look at some Hoya UV filters

Matt
I mainly worry about this when I'm on the beach, as I'd rather be cleaning salt off a filter than my lens. I use Hoya Pro1 filters, which you can often pick up reduced on Amazon or lightly used on eBay.

A very wise course of action Sir.(y)

Just a little test this morning but am very impressed with the 55-200. This is iso800 and just a slight saturation boost , no sharpening of any kind. Well chuffed!!

"The 55-200mm lens is without a doubt one of my fav's. and probably the lens I use the most of all for my personal stuff"

Ill have it if you don't mind :)

I have the XT10 but most should carry over shouldn't it?

Mr FujiMatt

Took the T20 and the 90 out on this mornings dog walk. The lens produces lovely images but I’m finding it top heavy on the T20 even with the grip. Thinking of maybe selling and picking up the 23 and 50 f2’s

No sell the X-T20, buy an X-T2 and keep the 90mm, you can't sell 'the special one'

If you think that's heavy don't go anywhere near the new 80mm macro. That is one heck of a beast.

It's down to personal preference here, but if you're definitely keeping the XT20, and prefer lighter set ups, then that's not a bad idea. The 90mm looks a stunning lens, but if it's not enjoyable to use for you then the 2 smaller primes might be the right thing to do. It's all about photography being enjoyable, if you know they will be more fun to use, then just do it! :)

Why not let me look after it for you both. Any time you want to use it, just come down and get it!

Totally agree on that I had a brief spell away from Fuji with an omd em10 ii and 14-42 and love the handling but not the image quality. Hence that's why I've picked up an xt20 with 16-50 and already have the 35 1.4
