The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Well I've been an' gawn an' done it, I'm now 100% Fuji. :)

I'm now completely DSLR less. All of my personal Nikon DSLR body's (company one's went close on a year ago) and all but one (G) lens have been outed and replaced with more Fuji gear. All that I have kept from Nikon are my manual lenses that I can use on the Fuji-X units (and my Nikon film cameras) and the Nikon flash system that I have successfully adapted to work on Fuji-X. (y)

I must admit its something I never thought I'd do as I've been dyed in the mass Nikon for ages (until recent years) but there you go. I honestly believe that Mirrorless and in particular Fuji is the way forward and it's only a matter of time before DSLR cameras are no longer considered worth manufacturing.

Nice one Chris, like that you got the jet skiers in, plus welcome to Flickr :)
Thanks Dave, I have had Flickr for some time but tended to just put a few photos on there from time to time. If you look on my photo stream you'll see mainly birds that I've taken during the 'Canon years' but I hope to post more now.

Yay, well done George. The DSLR shackles are now removed, onwards and upwards with Fuji.
My X-T1 arrived today so I now have Father & son to play with and am so much happier with my photographic life. I just want to learn the system inside out and diversify in my subject choices which I never really did with Canon.

As I said yesterday Sir, I'd be very surprised if you don't absolutely love that X-T1 unit, they are one hell of a good camera to own. I still use mine extensively as it just feels so right in the hand. "ENJOY"(y)

A camera has never felt so right to me.

Now I've got a XT1, I'm thinking of getting a neck strap to carry it around with. I have a codrweaver wrist strap on the T10 with the Peak Design loops but with a battery grip on the T1 I'm thinking it may not be ideal so, would a good option be the Peak Design Slide? I like the quick release couplings and also the option to tripod mount it with the arca plate that comes with it - the 'Lite' version doesn't really appeal as much.
Any opinions or indeed alternative suggestions welcomed.

I use a Peak Design Leash with my X-T2, now... in hindsight I kind of wish I had bought a Slide lite, as its a bit wider and would spread the weight a tad batter, If I'm using slightly heavier lenses such as the 55-200 the leash tends to dig in a bit, but with the 35mm f/1.4 or 18-55 its about perfect. The only thing that actually does annoy me is the plastic connectors that fap about bashing you camera all the time. I doubt they would do any real damage but... still.

Thank you once again for the endorsement George, I certainly intend to enjoy it to the full ;)

I did look at all the Peak Designs range but didn't really consider the Leash as it appears to be a wrist strap?

Nope not a wrist strap, It's actually longer than a Slide Lite if I remember correctly, can be used as a regular neck strap / sling - it just lacks the base plate that the other Slide models come with.

I use the Peak Design Leash, with the following:

Some 10mm stainless steel split rings from here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAINLESS...amp-14mm-SEA-FISHING-RIG-LINKS-/232448479709?

and some washers from here:

work a treat :)

Ah right, thanks for the clarification. When I saw it I assumed it was so maybe it's worth considering but I'm swaying towards the slide as it appears similar to the Black Rapid I used before with bigger Canon bodies & long lenses.
Edit - I've now realised why I was confused, I got the Leash & Clutch mixed up.

Yea I also nearly did the same thing, I thought the newer Black Rapid straps looked pretty good, its was a 50/50 decision :)

They are really good but I just think it may be overkill on a lighter system, plus the peak design couplings are cool!!

This Bandstand shot was from yesterday, so I just put it through one of my Topaz plug ins.

This might sound as a downer re your other work Sir, but it most definately is not. "This Is The Best Presentation I've Seen From You On This Thread". Keep up the good work.(y)

George.

Have any of you tried the top max batteries and charger? Seems really cheap at £20 for two batteries and double charger. Just getting my XT2 ready for a studio day next week.

Thank you very much George for the great words, and I do not look on it as a downer at all :)

You'll not go far wrong Sir, if you go for the Ex-Pro batteries. Most folk recommend the "White" but to be perfectly honest I've had equally good performance from the "Black" and have never found there to be any difference.(y)

Thanks folks. Does the fuji battery grip do anything the off brand ones don't? I mean does it communicate with the body as I keep hearing about it unlocking the body's potential. I assume the off brand ones simply provide extra battery power.

It unlocks a higher FPS mode for stills, not sure abut anything else. I don't think there is any third party battery grip for it, there is for the XT-1 but that doesn't have a boost mode.

Thanks mate I just assumed there would be other brands like the xt1 ones. Seems very pricey at upward of £260.

It brings it up to DSLR class Sir, this I know through shooting high end motor sport. (y)

"As has been said faster FPS, plus improved Focus Locking, better Tracking, faster and smoother Refresh Rate, virtually no Black Out between shots when in continuos shooting mode, and personally I think the camera is just nicer to use with the battery grip. However when in boost mode batteries do not last as long as when using normal mode. At the moment I too believe there is no third party battery grip for the X-T2"

The FUJIFILM X-T2 is the first camera to feature the Boost mode, improving AF speed and EVF refresh rate. When fitted with the grip, the camera uses multiple batteries simultaneously to improve its performance on various aspects in the Boost mode, including continuous shooting, shooting interval, shutter release time lag and blackout time.

From http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/x/fujifilm_x_t2/features/page_06.html

Adds a fair bit of weight and size though.

That's why I use one on the XT-1 :) It only adds one extra battery for that camera, and doesn't add anything outside of that really bar the portrait shutter, but I find it much more comfortable with it's attached. The XT-2 one is pricey, but as you point out you get a fair bit extra. I wonder if there will be any third party offerings at any point? For when I upgrade :D

I was actually only looking at it for ease of handling during portrait shoots. Might just wait for a third party one as I'm not much of a fast subject shooter. Sorry for all the questions but could someone recommend me a good sd card? I came from cf cards and used Kingston cards but I think there's more than one type of sd card.
