The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Nice picture - but that is rape stubble, so it cannot possibly be hay! It is rape straw baled up.

Thanks, I never realised that Rape crop was used in this way.

Always make sure to wrap up the right lens for trade in oooops. Three lenses traded in got me the Silver X-T20 + XC 16-50mm + XC 50-230mm and Three years warranty :banana::fuji::fuji:

Thank you George, he even threw in a voucher for 500 Free prints, so I have some quick learning to do so I can use that, just so over the moon that I now have the X-T20 and look forward to getting the X-T2 :)

P.s. would be very interested to hear how you get on with the XT2 once you're up and running. I've used Nikon DSLR's for years and sounds like you have too so would be interested to hear how you find the transition.

Yep, been Nikon through and through, for 35mm, since 1981. I went from FM2 to FE2 in addition, then FA, then a brace of F4s s,then F5 s....only changed to digital when the D2X came out, ran them until the D3 was launched and last year got the D4s. The beauty was the lenses were transferrable right across. I was still using a 55mm macro manual lens on the D3, it worked perfectly and was sharp enough that it didn't soften on the digital. I had a full suite of lenses: 16mm fisheye, 55 and 60 macro, 105DC,16-35, 24-70, 70-200, 300 f2.8 and 500 f4.and a converter - so I had everything covered.

The XT-2 is a revelation, it is very similar layout to the Nikon - but I don't know about all this customisation business, it is too complicated forme to follow - even with the book beside me I still forget what I have to do between reading it and picking the body up. Those 2 seconds are long enough for me to have forgotten what I have just read and fail to implement the instruction. I don't work buttonated - I much prefer the old fashioned knobs! Customising a button to do something other than it is designated for would just confuse me completely - I would like to turn the front button on the Fuji into a depth of field preview though. I am sure it can be done - I will ask someone to help me do it. It IS NOT EASY, it might be for you, but it is too complicated for me. I am not called 'Simon' for nothing! Otherwise, the Fuji is properly built, really solidly put together, although the little buttons are fiddly at first, small to find without looking. The lenses are hewn out of solid granite! Old fashioned engineering that is very reassuring. Solid, heavy and smooth as silk. I am only just finding my way around. I can't find how to format the card again - I did when I first put it in, but can't find it again in the menu now! I like to format after every download, once I know the pictures are safe.

It is a nice little camera to use. I will get out and use it properly soon, I have only used it around the house so far, just messing about.

Just back from 10 days in Australia for a mate's wedding and general holiday. A fantastic trip and my first since grabbing a 23mm f2. I haven't gone through all the pictures yet but between the wedding, wine tasting, plus ocean fishing and whale watching trips I'm sure I have some good stuff.

One I do have already is this - the last shot of the trip, shot from the window of a 787 during takeoff. Thankfully I had my camera bag at my feet and not in the overhead!

The camera gives you dof preview when you half press the shutter by default. Alternatively, you can allocate a button for this purpose :)

Beautiful light, I would crop out that left hand side though

Beautiful photo and very well taken, never got the chance to go to Perth :)

Just a simple shot taken from the ferry boat approaching the famous Alcatraz prison at San Francisco. Bit of Grainy/Grunge added during PP work plus a very slight Sepia Toning, no particular reason other that I thought it kinda suited the subject.

X-T1, 18-55mm Lens, 1/500th @ F7.1, ISO-200, Handheld.

Some place isn't it, George! You're right, it very much suits the grungy, old film kinda look.

Thank you kindly Sir, I much appreciate you taking the time to reply.(y)

"I've visited that place several times as I used to live for a short while in "Sausalito" just the other side of the "Golden Gate Bridge. I assume from your comments that you've also visited those parts"

Indeed. I stayed in San Francisco for 5 nights back in 2012 or so and also visited Sausalito. My now wife wasn't so keen on San Francisco, but adored Sausalito.

I must admit, the they're both amazing places but to live in, I'd pick Sausalito hands down. Excellent taffy also [emoji1]

Just two very quick sooc photos. Whoever said I`d like this camera is WRONG. I totally love it :)

Really nice shots.
How are you finding the size after coming from a 70D?
I'm in the process of doing similar from a Canon dslr set up to Fuji but my instincts are to go for a X-T1 (can't afford to go for the 2 or 20 yet) rather than X-T10 as I'm used to larger bodies.
If I could get along with the X-T10, it would leave more money for glass.

Consider the X-T10 with a grip. If you look back a few pages you'll see mine plus another using the genuine grip.

Coming from a D7100, I've no issue with it.

Thank you for your input, I'm just a little nervous of choosing the wrong body and regretting it as I've done on many occasions in the past!
My other concern would be the build as the X-T1 is built like a rocket according to what I've read and I live in a coastal rural area so it could be exposed to the elements from time to time.

Not sure what 'built like a rocket' means :) but the XT1 is weather resistant with the right lenses.

Sorry, I guess I meant weather sealed and maybe it looks more durable.
Thanks for clarification anyway.

Thank you, I have small hands so the X-T20 is just right for me, plus the X-T2 is fine too as have tried that. Size wise to my 70D is pretty small I have to say.

Don't get me wrong, right now if I were buying I'd go for an X-T1. Am I disappointed that I have an X-T10? Not in the slightest.

They're both excellent imo with the weather sealing the only real benefit (to me) of the T1 over the cheaper body. Bearing in mind that's with only certain lenses as above, it's not that big a deal to me (I mainly use the 10-24mm which is not WR).

Thanks again - I'm swaying towards the T1 as I think I'll be happier with it and I should still be able to get the 2 lenses I want within budget hopefully.

I just looked at your Flickr page btw, some great shots on there with your T10, very impressed.

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. At the end of the day, get what will make you happy.

Look forward to seeing some of your work in here.

The XT10 has the same sensor as the XT-1, so end results will be the same. It's more about ergonomics. The reason I haven't traded my XT-1 for the XT20 [though continuously pondering] is because the XT-1 with the battery grip just feels so good for me. I know I would miss that ISO dial a lot too. The logical upgrade would be an XT-2 with battery grip, but it's just well out of my budget for now. I know you can get grips for the XT20, but it's still going to be just a tad too small in hand for my liking I feel. Some people prefer a smaller body though, it' a personal preference.

Yes I like the layout of the dials on the X-T1 and have convinced myself now that it's the correct body to go for.
Lenses are another issue though, 18-55 f2.8-4 is a definite and maybe the 55-200 f3.5-4.8 so I've got some longer range options as well.
Watch this space, just getting funds together via the sales of my DSLR kit then Fuji here I come!
