The X bodies seem to make quite a good fist of in-camera panoramas. Unfortunately the baby Xs (X10,20,30 etc.) suffer from significant banding which makes the results less useful other than as snapshots. Keep meaning to try a pan on a passing car...

No just hand held. I did one indoors that didn't line up but I didn't do it very smoothly. I think instead of constantly correcting to stay on the horizontal line it's better to just sweep smoothly even if you go a bit up or down

I have tried one or two on my X10, x20 and x30 cameras and they make good enough snaps, all with out any banding. But the resolution is far far lower than than the conventional stitched pans I have taken with them.

In camera sweep pans will always be a considerable compromise, what ever camera is used, as it stitches together narrow strips from each exposure in turn. this must always rely on the smoothness and levelness of the sweep. The limitations of this can easily be seen if the sweep is deliberately angled. However, on some cameras, the individual exposures can be saved along with the in-camera sweep pan. In these instances far better stitches can be made using specialist panoramic software.

Out of curiosity, as I always do panos from individual shots stitched in software, which cameras have this ability?

They all do AFAIK Stephen. Certainly the X-T10 does and I'm sure the rest will also.

That's interesting. I shall have to check. Certainly Olympus didn't - you just ended up with a single jpeg and the camera discarded the individual shots after it had produced the stitched image.

Oh I see what you mean. Sorry, I thought you meant the actual panoramic option rather than saving the individual shots.

When you save the individual shots of a sweep pan, you end up with far more shots than you need to do a decent stitch in external software. So you have far more options to chose ones where important features do not get compromised by stitch areas. Mostly you will end up with very good pans, provided you do not sway as you pan, or you might end up with parallax problems.

Haha.....the basic XF18-55mm lens strikes again on the X-Ten, such a great combination Dave! Simply stunning.

Beautiful light and decisive moment when to say "press the shutter.....now", and of course the importance of being there at the right place/right time along with which focal length to select etc.......put this all together and you have an exquisite photograph!! Top notch photography Sir.

This is the 'money shot'. Fantastic

I was covering a boxing match and decided to take along the XT2 and 23mm 1.4 lens with me to try out.I think it worked out ok, need to tweek the settings a bit.I had the shutter at 500 f2 and auto iso with acros, and now know that is a bit slow.I know it won't replace my Canon 1 DX but i was impressed.

Fuji i40 and i60a HSS firmware now available - Yay!
I just need to get my hands on a couple for a wedding next Sat! :(

HIGH SPEED SYNC (HSS) FIRMWARE UPDATE NOW AVAILABLE FOR NISSIN i40 & i60A
Nissin has now released the HSS firmware update for the i40 and i60A, and Kenro is in a position to install these updates for you. The update itself is free1, but the user must bear the shipping costs of sending their flashguns to us. There will be a £7.50 + VAT charge for returning the flash to you, which will be via DPD on a signed for / trackable2 next day3 delivery. You are welcome to bring your flash to us in person and wait for the update to be installed; this will be by appointment only. Once we receive your flashgun, please allow up to 5 working days for Kenro to update and return it.

Note: The firmware update for the Di700A and Air 1 commander is not yet available. These are due mid-June. If you have one of these as well as an i40 or i60A, you might want to wait for these to be released and pay for only one return carriage charge.

Now the Apple has announced its new iPad Pro's I am still considering one for Fuji RAW editing.
Affinity Photo has also announced a RAW editor for the iPad too.
Anybody know if it supports Fuji RAW files including lens corrections and film simulation modes?
