The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Sorry, I've posted this before, but I do love the XF35/1.4 for what it does, thought I'd share the effects from this superb focal length, I accidently shot this at f/1.8, I don't know why?

great shot on the 35 Peter.
i loved the output of the 10-24. unfortunately the lack of aperture numbers on the ring really withdrew the whole "fuji experience" for me.

Yes, a glaring omission on Fuji's part.

Hi guys, I'm in need of a shutter remote for long exposures and night photography. What do you guys use? Wired or wireless? I'm wary of battery drain.

I just use a cheap copy of a Canon remote from eBay, wasn't even three quid and works fine.

The genuine Canon is cheaper than the Fuji one and works just as well unless you need bells and whistles such as timers, time lapse etc.

Sure it's an RS-60e3 that works, though a quick search will confirm.

Is this the wireless one or the wired one?

You can screw an old film style remote release into the shutter button. Will lock for long exposures. Plentiful supply and gives you that old school cool look.
I use one but it takes more than that to make me look cool!

Guys, is there a noticeable improvement in AF speed using the 23 1.4 and 35 1.4 with the XT2 over XT1? Thanks

That's really nice George. I do like you street stuff.

Well thank you kindly Sir, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply & commenting.(y)

George.

Made my own out of a old pair of leather gloves.

I bought the xt2. Amazing camera. But as you are returning to Fuji and have no glass, I would buy a secondhand XT1. ..I've seen a few around £350-£450. Spend your dosh on glass. Then in the future purchase the amazing XT2.

Sorry I've just realised this is nowhere near the original post...

No. You can't make the motor move any quicker, all you can do is fiddle with the processing that tells it where to move to, which is better in continuous tracking.

Thanks for the link to that Sir, interesting reading.(y)

"I'm a huge advocate of the 10-24mm lens and I use it for a lot of my paddock & pit lane work, but must admit seldom for my street photography prefering something a bit longer. I disagree though about him saying it needs improved stabilisation, I've always considered the stabilisation to be excellent on that lens"

George.

That reviewer is based in HK, for street photography in HK where the nearest there are a lot more people so "personal space" is much much narrower meaning a wider lens makes more sense.

10-24 on the streets of LA makes much less sense.

I have to agree that the OIS in all the Fuji lenses is among the best available but at such short focal lengths, it's hardly needed - it's rare to need a shutter speed below 1/30th which is the theoretical (according to the 1/FL= max) SS for hand holding. At longer shutter speeds, gross movements (which are often beyond ANY IS's capabilities) will take over from the minor movements which IS can deal with and subject movement is likely to cause blur. Having said that, its default position on my X-Pro1 is ON!!!

Actually he's Vancouver based.

+1, very nice @G.K.Jnr. . At first glance I thought it was Corbyn and May withdrawing money for the policies in their new manifestos ;)

That's a nice shot Sir, must admit the panorama mode is something I've never even tried.(y)

George.

Thanks very much. A thing I really like is you can pan horizontally but with the camera in portrait orientation enabling a higher resolution.

Sounds interesting Sir, I'll give it a shot when I get the time. I tend to use my units just as tools and probably miss out on quite a number of the built in features.(y)

George.

A great effort, sir. I'm clearly not steady enough and the results are always full of artefacts :(

Was this taken on a tripod?

No just hand held. I did one indoors that didn't line up but I didn't do it very smoothly. I think instead of constantly correcting to stay on the horizontal line it's better to just sweep smoothly even if you go a bit up or down

That's interesting Sir, I've only ever tried a panorama on an iPhone 7 Plus. Thought I'd have a little play as I've only had it for a few weeks (my 1st ever cell phone), sad isn't it. Must admit the results looked reasonable though.(y)

George.
