Hi folks... can I pick your brains regarding third party batteries.... might have five fujis, but looking to add some extra cheaper optons for longer wedding days....
I have the 12mm and like it, but find it hard to compose with.
And not getting your shadow in shot can be very challenging.
My 8mm never left my bag yesterday, too busy playing the wonder that is the 90mm

I'd agree, I had the 12mm (briefly), but felt that it was just too wide for my style (or aims) of photography, so I've stuck with the 14mm (21mm FF equivalent). For me the 12mm was too wide more noticably in the vertical direction, and had too much distortion that needed correction (I do a lot of urban shots with buildings), I also didn't think my copy was overly sharp, but the results from others have been sharp.
Cool shot. And yes, until recently I would have agreed with that. Certainly it's a very useful lens in narrow alleys and at close quarters. And not getting your shadow in shot can be very challenging. But then I saw this guy's pictures, working with 11mm on FF. http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=116512.0
I conclude that I have much to learn about using superwide lenses properly!
Absolutely. My 12mm is only the same angle of view as 18mm on a FF sensor, so why am I finding it so hard to compose with, if he can do this? Some of these 11mm images are of the "includes the foreground right up to your feet" variety, but others I think look surprisingly natural.Agreed that there are fantastic images in that link, but as the guy himself says, these were taken at 11mm on full frame so this is very very different from 10mm on a crop camera which is 15mm on full frame. So to get the equivalent wide angle effect on a Fuji would need something like an 8mm. If anything, seeing his images is making me consider getting a 12mm Samyang for my D800!

It does have something a bit special doesn't it! I'm still uploading my pics, I'll get to the good stuff eventually!

Well after selling every camera and lens I own I'm now back in the XT club. Picked up my X-T20 earlier and already have the lenses I purchased whilst awaiting camera. Samyang 12mm Fuji 18-55 and 35 1.4 plus the X100F. Just hope it's decent weather tommorow.

Love it I am a big fan of fisheye lenses especially in old buildings
I found a old EZ430 speedlite in my cupboard and test so far are looking ok.I use this set up with Fuji and my old Canon 580 flash units. Works well but in manual mode only.
Another wonderful monochrome coastal landscapeA bit more mono at the beach. I really wanted to be six feet higher up, but it's a long way from the car park to carry a stepladder...

Well captured candid moment
Very nice set of imagesManaged something a bit different. Couple of young chaps were skateboarding out front and one was kind enough to perform a few jumps for me.

It's a cracking piece of glass im well pleased with the one I purchased from the classifieds hereHi all,
Just a heads up.
Amazon.co.uk have the Fuji XF 50-140mm f2.8 + 1.4x TC on for £1319seems a good price.
Thanks for the helpful comments. Although the 23mm f/2 has a lot going for it, from the point of view of someone including astro in their list of possibilities (assuming I can get to locations with less light pollution than Oxford this year!), the comparison is better made between the two 1.4 lenses, as the astrophotographers who have tried seem to think that the Samyang is generally good enough to use wide open. At that point the difference in price is about 500 quid, unless the Fuji lens gets a lot cheaper. What's interesting to me is that nobody here seems to have one. I can see my hipster credentials potentially going through the roof here - a Fuji mirrorless *and* a lens that nobody else uses, that doesn't autofocus...![]()
Hi Patrick I posted. Link a week or so ago you can now buy a external battery pack with a 16000mah so gives plenty of battery life especially when doing long shoots I shot all afternoon in the studio with it and battery had hardly depleted.Hi folks... can I pick your brains regarding third party batteries.... might have five fujis, but looking to add some extra cheaper optons for longer wedding days....
Yikes. Sorry to hear that! Hope its at least repairable!Hi Patrick I posted. Link a week or so ago you can now buy a external battery pack with a 16000mah so gives plenty of battery life especially when doing long shoots I shot all afternoon in the studio with it and battery had hardly depleted.
I was really impressed with it.
Unlike myself when I dropped my spare XT1 body with XF 56mm f1.2 and knackered the lens before I had even taken a shot with it GUTTED doesn't even come close to how I flet![]()
From what I have read you do need the new s type battery for the body but not in the battery grip standard batteries should be okIf you have the X-T2 I believe you need the new mk2 Fuji battery to ensure certain functions don't cause the battery to overheat.
Well I posted it out to Fuji last Monday phoned them yesterday and they said it had been repaired and dispatched sadly t hasn't arrived today so a little disappointed but hay new mount and rear part of barrel plus electronic circuits replaced and the price of the repair was reasonable considering the cost to replace the lens.oh and 12 month warrantyYikes. Sorry to hear that! Hope its at least repairable!
Good news about the battery pack though, might have to pick one up.![]()

I can recommend the battery pack it did a fantastic joe while on the shoot.
And will be perfect for a couple of days I have booked on Skomer in the summer !
Here is a link they also do a less powerful battery pack.
