Had a little play yesterday with the X-T2 / 50-140 + 1.4x TC, first time using the TC

Awful lighting, dull and dismal day but wanted to see how the 50-140 performed with the 1.4x TC and more specifically how the X-T2 coped with tracking in poor light.

First image is 1/2000 f2.8 ISO 640

Second image is 1/2000 f4 ISO 6400 so I was really pushing the ISO

EXIF shows 140mm but effectively with the 1.4x TC it's 196mm on both images. I also thought you lost one stop with the 1.4x TC ? It's still showing 2.8 and 4.

Although the second image leaves a lot to be desired the camera tracked remarkably well at dusk, i've lifted the exposure a little, cropped and dehazed a bit.

Not sure what to think really as i'm still learning and never shot fast moving objects in poor light before.

Have you updated the lens and tc to the latest firmware? I had the same issue re aperture and focal length readings until I have updated the firmware
 
Very impressed with the current cashback arrangements. Submitted my evidence at 10:45 this morning, had an email within ten minutes asking for a specific detail (screenshot of Amazon delivery confirmation) which I replied to straight away. 4 hours later I've had an approval email with payment to be made in 14 days.

I noticed when checking on Amazon that the 30 day buffer they (Fuji) employ to stop fraudulent claims doesn't work with retailers extended Christmas return dates. I bought my 23mm 1.4 on November 25th and it can be returned up until Jan 31st.
 
I noticed the Amazon extended returns period too but I got the 50-140mm f2.8 + TC 1.4x bundle for £1319, add the £125 cash back and it ended up costing £1194 in total which I thought was a good price.

thanks for the offer but I refused a Mk 1 at £130, I figured I'd want the increase AF speed and (marginal) stabilisation improvement of the 2 if I'm getting one.
 
This is where Graham @yamahatdm900 and I met but completely failed to recognise each other. Although in my defence, it turns out he's not actually a black cat.

Anyway, it could do with a bit of mist on the water and cloud in the sky, but I took it anyway ;-)

And as this is supposed to be a gear forum, this is with the Samyang 12mm, probably at f/8-11. No complaints from me about the lens!

Have you tried the X-Transformer plugin yet? I've only just starting playing with it, but I'm impressed so far. Interface leaves a lot to be desired (it's a beta) but the level of detail extraction is...well I was very surprised!

That is one of the lenses I would like to get by spring. That looks very like an area I stayed in a few years back. A town called Abingdon-on-Thames

I think it's excellent value. And yes, this is Shipton-on-Cherwell. Abingdon is just south of Oxford, Shipton just north. And the Cherwell is a tributary of the Thames (it's the canal right here, but the river is very close by). So they're definitely close cousins, albeit Abingdon is a market town and Shipton a tiny village.

Ah cool, we were there for 3 weeks. Ate many a pie in the little pub on the outskirts, forget the name.

The lens seems great value aye, soon as I get back on top of the bills :O it's on the hit list.

Just read about this and am interested.

Just two questions though.

1: are dng files much bigger?
2: does the software import to an intelligent location as lightroom can? (ie in my setup (folder)\(camera)\(date)\(files)

No, not heard of it TBH.
 
Basically its something that uses the Irident raw conversion and changes the file to a DNG, which Lightroom can handle without messing up.

The one thing I would love to see in a X body would be IBIS so I could get the best from my prime len,s without having to use a tripod or support.
I still have a Fuji HS-10 bridge camera and was so impressed with the IBIS.
So they have the technology and ability to add it to a body :)
But I fear it will never happen with them offering OIS zoom lenses:(
But I'm still loving the Fuji,s :fuji:

Does it take half a century to convert a good batch of them?

So is it a plug-in for irident that you then export as DNG or is it a standalone software?

I think there's going to be a Mac version coming along soon, for those who don't want the full Iridient package. I occasionally use Iridient, but most of the time I'm more than happy with Lightroom, and for my workflow see no benefit in converting to DNG. Others may work differently.

I had a look on their website last week, seems the only version for the Mac is developer which costs £87, why can't Mac users have the cheaper version ?

I trialed the developer program and the interface is horrible imo. Aperture gives me the same detail as irident, but on my latest 'painterly' pics even that couldn't correct it ;(

I wouldn't look too much into Fuji lenses having OIS, the Sony IBIS system works along side their OIS lenses very well.
Fuji know its a key feature and I believe it is possible but it will most likely need a body redesign (bigger) to be able to fit in the IBIS system.
They can't put it in the current system at present due to the lack of room inside the body.

IBIS would have been nice to have, but it isn't going to happen and I knew that before I switched from Olympus, and work accordingly. I just wish they'd put OIS into the 90mm lens.
 
It seems like one of my points may be ticked off in the next Firmware upgrade.....

According to a FR-source, some cameras, and for sure the Fujifilm X-T2, should get the ability to add in camera copyright to your images.

Abingdon ish stomping ground some pretty scenes down by the river. If it was the pub on the bridge that will be the Bags Head.

My Sony A7RII had this function.
You just input your name / company name / web address etc into the camera and it will then save all this information to each photo's EXIF data.

Same with Olympus. Trouble is, anyone with an exif editor can remove it.

I found the 90 to be a lovely lens to hold and quite easy to inject a bit of human stabilisation ? It's the shorter smaller lenses I find harder to control shake with.

Yes, it's just like the olden days when stabilisation meant leaning on something and breathing out! It's surprising what you can achieve with the right technique - we're spoiled these days. And I'm with you on shorter lenses.

On my files, 50MB vs 30 for the RAF. Not sure about the second point but probably.

Ah sorry, didn't realise you were on a Mac. You'll have no surprises in that case, although I believe a Mac version is coming. It definitely extracts more detail than LR but obviously not better than Developer :-)

With your photoshop skills, I would have thought that would be easy, or maybe we'd end up with 3 glasses!!!
