The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Yeah it was behind cloud when I shot the wider one, and I pretty much pulled highlights back to 0 in post, and upped exposure for the ambience. This was also helped by shooting at 1/4 ISO 200, if you used an ND filter it should be even easier
Why would an ND filter help unless you just so happened to have one the shape of the moon? ;)

Because the moon is insanely bright, even to slow the shutter down a tad would help. I could have lifted the ambient more, easily if I'd used one. Only so much you can push and pull. I would have thought it was obvious tbh And you can get gradient filters of course. Use it at an angle to suit, use yer imagination! :P Otherwise, wait for more cloud then.

So you only require the 100-400m then.........lol

True.... I do love the 50-140 though, decided to return the 90mm too long as a prime for me but the IQ and IS of the 50-140 is just awesome, and its not too bad size wise or weight.

Good morning guys.

Look forward to reading many more post and seeing images.

Few of you are newbies to Fuji such as Nuzik? Excellent image there

Lol, yeah I'm familiar with the use of filters :P My point was that the moon actually moves faster than you think. I find that with shutter speeds lower than 1/60 you start to lose finite detail. Obviously that's not as important when shooting through cloud but much slower than that and you start to introduce motion into your shot. There's a hint of it in your shot at 1/25 and so if you were to then to use filters it's going to start being visible without pixel peeping.

My comment about the moon shaped filter was just me trying to be funny, obviously went down like a lead balloon

I know what you meant :D Maybe you should invent one? :D

I've shot the stars before, and I know once you pass 10 seconds or so you're getting movement. But I'm not talking anything that long. If there's any movement in my image that'll just be me :D I shot hand held, any slower you need a tripod

Yeah, I can only tell you what I found when I experimented with different shutter speeds. As I said I won't go below 1/60 but obviously YMMV ;) All mine are on a tripod, the Tamron 150-600mm is one heavy beast to try and handhold at 1/60 and get super sharp shots of the moon

Thought you'd like that. It's in bw as he's lying on the kids car mat and that's got more colours than a sony advert
Lol I think it suits mono. Shame about the blown out patch though, joys of natural light :(

Although the photos are good Toby it's unholy unacceptable for you to graffiti. Please can you refrain from doing this in the future you thug.
If only I was that talented ;)

Superb! Love the tyres :D
Thanks. It's a pretty hardcore gym tbh. They've even got huge tractor tyres they have to flip, bit like strongman. Unfortunately they weren't part of the workout on Sunday.

Thanks Rookies, been here a while. I'm pretty knew to photography. Ok I've had a camera for years but I reckon I only learnt the triangle about a week ago.

ok got out some cheap static lights last night, as the wife wanted some flat lays done. Now ive not used the Fuji like this before only my old D750 so was a different experience. The colours on the Fuji are vastly different to that of the Nikon and even editing them in PS a little hit and miss but was really about trying the camera out and some new things. Im limited by space and it was about midnight when i started so i was tired.
Opinions thoughts and generally tare them to shreds im not sentimental.

Overall very nice, my only real critique is that there is a lot of variation in WB and if I was looking at product shots I'd want consistency. Continuity between product shots looks more professional imo, obviously YMMV. There's some purple CA that needs removing from the menu on the 3rd too (y)

10% of some Fuji stuff at Wex at the mo

Edit: Removed link as just seen it's not meant to be shared. Maybe if you sign up for an account they'll send it to you.

NO idea what YMMV is, oh i agree about the consistency. I tried both the 56mm and the 18mm so it will be a little out from that but i was just really playing about more than anything else. And yes there is CA i was shocked at how much the fuji produces to be honest, and yes i was just to lazy to get rid of it!

** Stuttering Screen**

Has anyone else had this from their EVF? Where the screen has juddered along frame by frame for a few seconds before catching up with itself?

Happened on my XP2 much to my disappointment it's happened a few times now on my XT2.

"Your Mileage May Vary"

Just tried this on the following lenses and it didn't work.

10-24mm
16-55mm
56mm

:D

Do you have a link to this promotion ? I can't seem to find any reference to it on the Wex site :(

Just noticed that it says the code is not to be shared, oops ;) Maybe it's just sent to those on the mailing list/has an account with them?

I haven't seen it on my XT1. Is it just whilst viewing, or when shooting in burst/continuous mode?

Maybe it's a one off and someone already used it...
Yeah probably as I just tried it an it didn't work. Or maybe Wex saw that I'd shared it and now I'm blacklisted  :$

TBH most/a lot wide aperture lenses suffer from this. In certain shots my Nikon 85mm f1.8 had really bad purple and/or green fringing (mainly purple), as did the Sigma 85mm f1.4 I had.

Is it to do with power saving mode? Does it go back to normal if you half press the shutter?

Just viewing composing a shot.... both frozen a few times too. To be honest that's happened to every fuji I've ever had, which is nearly all of them.
