The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Certainly looks tack sharp. Why you no data though!?? I like to see the exif

I saw that, and besides the tint he mentions, there's nothing between the images in terms of quality.
Click through to Flickr the data is there [emoji1]

Sorry guys meant say xt2 am going for
Andy, I'm still yet to find out conclusively whether AF speed is affected by the grip. Frame rate and refresh rate are, but I'm not sure AF speed is.

It's not showing here, you'll see it because it's your image. In settings I bet it's off. That happened mine recently, I never changed it personally to off, must have been a default during an update.

I don't particularly like this guy and I don't know if what he is saying is true, but he mentions a few interesting things regarding what batteries you should use in the XT2 and where. It could explain why there's been reports of a few lockups too, although I'm not sure why a battery would cause a lockup

He's a bit crazy but he does talk sense sometimes. I like that he often calls out the less genuine reviewers.

I thought the grip, in boost mode, speeded up the AF ? I'm sure I heard reference to it on here somewhere....
I've had the grip. It doesn't change the af speed. It does reduce the blackout period, although it's already pretty good. Oh, and I used ordinary batteries in the grip with no problems.

Interesting, I have the grip and currently have a 100-400 on hire. I thought it may enhance the focus, but to be fair, I haven't had a problem with it anyway. I also use std batteries in the grip.

When you think you have an amazing shot .... I took a nice sharp shot of the moon just there, and had it zoomed in on the LCD. Showed it to my 9yr old daughter and she says "Cool, can you zoom in to see more detail?" ...:(:banghead:

Anyone know where I can get a good cheap telescope to attach the lens to? :D

I think if you are firing off 100's of shots at a time you may benefit from the x-t2 batteries. Personally I didn't run into any trouble using 3rd party batteries.

Yep angry guy says that's fine as long as you have the XT2 battery in the camera. As I said though, it could be a load of poppycock, I've no idea and not researched his background about working in the battery industry ;)

It's the noise that bothered me really :) I knew there was side glare on the window, i guess I thought I could process it out. I did, kind of, but introduced a hell of a lot of noisiness. Cool little wee bird though, first time I seen that particular one in the garden. there was a robin too, but the shots just weren't doing it for me on that one. Not after I looked up other's bird shots :/
Have you ever tried the Fuji 1.4 teleconverter with the XF55-200mm at all.....?.....or anyone else by chance ??

This was covered in great detail when the T2 came out.

The new batteries have greater cooling powers than the old ones. Generally it is not a problem, but if you are shooting video for any length of time the batteries can get hot. That's how they work - a chemical reaction. If they get too hot they loose their power. Again it's the laws of nature. If they loose too much power then the camera cannot work hence lock up.
It's not generally a problem unless you are shooting long video sequences. The guy in the video is right; but only in certain circumstances which the majority of us are never likely to come across. So for normal usage, the existing batteries work well enough. If you are going to push the camera and it's batteries to the limits then you might, I stress might, have a problem.

Don't loose too much sleep over it.

I don't think it's compatible because the front of the TC protrudes too much. it would be cool if it did fit though

Just checked, only fits the 50-140 and 100-400 :(

Must investigate the "Toy Camera Mode" on the X-T1, looks interesting and fun. I don't believe I've seen any images posted here with it.

I messed about with it a bit, I liked the high key filter. and the miniature could be fun. Pretty much tilt shift

Not according to Fuji. I have seen it mentioned before as well, but it's only the higher FPS and EVF blackout reduction that I'd really be interested in. You get the enhanced AF and EVF refresh rate just by activating boost on the camera (no grip needed).

This black out how quick is it so when you take a image on the xt2 can you instantly see through EVF to take enother

I switched it on my mistake the other day in the dark. It made the moon look orange cheese.

Yes, you're only talking milliseconds. I've never noticed it tbh.

In single shot it's fine, when shooting at high fps you only see the shots you've captured in a pseudo sort of view. It takes a bit of getting used to and can make tracking a fast moving subject more difficult.

Just got in from the Wyedean rally in the Forest of Dean, Showery weather and poor light at times.
Had the XT2 + 55-200 set to zone focus and Opt - 3 Accel / Decelerating subjects and it tracks high speed rally cars beautifully
In sequences of a dozen shots or so i can read the number plate on 95% of them.
Any blurred ones are down to my poor tracking skills.

Also tried it on AF-C Opt -2 Ignore obstacles and it tracks the car through the trees and branches extremely well.

Will post a few pics when i get more time to pp them on pc

I won't, I don't even have an X-T2

I don't like Toy camera, but always liked miniature which is a fake tilt shift.

Be interested in this 55-200 as they can be got quit cheap. Are they sharp nice lens as wondering wether got this over the 40-150 as it a lens I don't use alot

TBH mate it's not much different to the black out you get on DSLR from the mirror raising and falling so I wouldn't get too concerned about it. Especially as I've never seen you take a sports/action shot yet ;) :p

Well on the Sony it slow with black out I know that and it a difference from the d750 so hoping a xt2 be near enough to the d750

Nice, I was looking forward to going but last night our house door lock broke and I had to sort that out this morning instead! Looking forward to seeing your shots. Have you been to the wyedean before? I struggled to find any decent spectator info so was just going to park at Speech House or Beechenhurst and hopefully follow the crowds!

The grip also offers less lag with a shutter speed of 0.045
I love these quotes figures, who can tell if it's 0.045 or 0.06 ;)

Though I haven't used it much yet, I have been testing it in various types of shoot. I've shot birds, the moon, the kids playing about, and then just arty still life shots around the house. The OIS is very impressive for one, I've had sharp images hand held at 1/4, 1/8 -1/15 is very comfortable. It seems pretty sharp too, not taken much outdoors/landscape type shots just yet. only have it a week. But liking it so far. It's light enough to easily shoot one handed with too. Say you're holding something or indeed hodling on to something while shooting. No problem. The 50-140 is a lot heavier, and though it has that nice constant 2.8, I think you'd end up wanting the TC 1.4x for more reach, expensive set up. And it'll then be just shy of 200mm F4, where for a LOT cheaper you get 200 F4.8 in a much lighter package with the 55-200, and still get the OIS

It was my first time art Wyedean, i had an XE-1 before and it was too slow to focus, i had the same plan as you, only £7 to park at Speech House and followed the path to the track.
Walked all the stages to get different types of pics.
Currently downloading 2 full mem cards to LR
Maybe next time have a TP meet at the rally.
Its quite exhilarating seeing the speed of the cars up close
