The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Firmware 5.00 for the X-T1 will be available on 8th November alongside the new firmware for the X-T2, according to Fuji Rumors. Looks like just the flash update at this stage though.

Seems odd to go up a full version number just to add flash to the XT1. I wonder if there's anything else more interesting coming with it.

There's a post earlier^^^^that says tethering is also included.
Presumably the flash refers to Nissan i40 use?

I hope so. I don't fancy forking out £20 to get my i40 fixed for the once a year I use it.

Yeah - I see people moaning about the Nisin firmware update killing HSS,but to be honest I'd also be happy if I can get the flash back working properly in ttl and manual without needing bits of tape over contacts! It's a great little flash for most uses that aren't hardcore strobist stuff!

Yeah tethered shooting will be in the V1.10 upgrade

Yikes ! I've already had to upgrade to use X-Pro 2 .raf files, Adobe are taking the p*** :jawdrop:

And apparently they aren't adding tethered support to the X Pro2 ? Seriously ? Fuji are still maintaining the XP2 is their Pro camera ?

Be thankful it's not an Apple product ;)
At least Apple don't charge for updates. In fact they even allowed users of pirated versions of Aperture to upgrade free !

What version are you using ?

I was using LR5 had to upgrade to LR6 to use XP2 rafs

Nope. No need to.
Just use Adobe FREE DNG convertor.
Works a treat.
Notice the word FREE. I like that.

Although I am thinking more and more of going down the CC route - there just seem to be so many more new features in there that I don't have.

Thanks. I tend to export to NIK for HDR. That works quite well. At least no-one on here has spotted the HDR shots I've put up.

The LR Panorama works in RAW which may or may not be useful, as does the HDR, so at the end of the 'Photo Merge' you still have a RAW image to play with.

The NIK tools are great though, and you definitely can't beat a bit of Silver Efex Pro, and it's control points are very cool in the way that they operate, only affecting tones within a region.

There is a conversion takes place on export to Nik HDR. Not sure what is happening but at the end of the process a tif is produced. So conversion in RAW would be a big benefit.

Yes, agreed about Silver Efex. I've just about given up using the Acros preset. It only gives JPEG files, and I have to work on them anyway, so decided to stick with RAW and use Silver Efex for any conversion work.

BTW...are you going to Oulton Park on Saturday? I sort of fancy it. Starts early - 9AM!

No can't make it, as I'm meeting my son in Shrewsbury, will see you on Monday though for Manchester/Salford Quays (even the weather is looking good for that one)

I'm still playing with ACROS settings, it seems to be very scene specific in how the Highlight Tone, Shadow Tone, and Sharpness are applied, I took a picture into a wood the other day and was pleased with the ACROS result but then turned round and took a picture across the River Weaver and it was pants. I definitely get more consistent results with Silver Efex even using the same preset (one of my custom ones)

I am very impressed with the SOOC JPEGS st high ISO (12800) on the X-T2 both in Provia and in ACROS, as long as the scene has decent dynamic range, the results are good, abd would take me quite a time phaffing about in LR to get a similar picture.
