I think that if Fuji were to produce a fast telephoto prime people would have more confidence. I don't have the 100-400 (yet) but I'm concerned how it will perform against my 7D2/150-600 Sport combo for wildlife, especially as the length is the important bit when shooting smaller subjects. I'm off to Scotland next month, and I plan to hire the 100-400 and converter to try it side by side with my existing set up.
Not sure the 7D will AF if a teleconverter is used. The 100-400 will AF on an X-T1 even with the 2x telecon behind it which makes it an f/11 combo. When the tubes arrive, I'm going to play with stacking telecons and extension tubes behind assorted lenses for a decent macro option.
