The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Thanks for the replies to my XP2/XT2 question.

My feelings mirror some of yours. In my current situation, I much prefer to use my old XP1. It looks nicer, is built better, has better buttons and just makes me want to pick it up and use it. However, my XT1 gets more use because it balances far better with my 50-140, has the tilting screen (really useful for when I do still life and landscape/architecture) and is easier to hold if I’m just walking about with it.

I don’t think the EVF would be that much of an issue – I never felt disappointed with the XP1. What would be minus points are the lack of a tilting screen and the imbalance with the 50-140 or any larger lens.

There’s more chance the price of the XP2 will come down in the used market. MPB have at least 6 for sale. I’ve never seen an XT2 in the flesh...this would help as I could decide if I really wanted it. I doubt I will see one sometime soon as there are none in London or the SE / Kent where I am/am near
As you already have the X-T1 you'll feel right at home with the T2, there's almost no difference between them handling and size wise. However going from the XP1 to the XP2 is day and night, it's a much better laid out camera, way faster in every way. Get down to your local camera shop and try one ;)

Probably been asked and answered before but in the great tradition of re-asking dumb questions on TP, are X-T1 (etc.) batteries compatible with the X-T2 or does the S in the battery part number mean they've been sneaky?

Yeah they're compatible, the S designation means it can handle heat better when shooting 4K video and mad burst rates apparently.

If you could get to Watford-ish in the next couple of weeks you could have a play with mine (X-T2, that is ...).

Just seen this resource - it scours various sites and shows the most used lenses on various bodies, but whats really nice is you can drill through to the images to get a better idea of the sort of work thats being produced on a certain combination.

The site is: explorecams.com - X-T1 (link), XT-2 (link), X-T10 (link)

Thanks for that, Jim. I have a few batteries for my X-Pro 1 and X-T 1 so won't need any more spares for the X-T 2 if when I get it!

Haha - you had me worried for a second :)

Thanks - I'm a little way away from Watford so might be tricky but I appreciate the offer. You also have a D750 don't you? (or am I thinking of someone else)

Here ya go. Just a few shots with my new xt2 + 35mmf2

Using classic chrome film simulations mostly

I have a few concerns but I don't know if this is just my camera or everyone's. ....

1- if I select the viewfinder to only switch on when looking through the viewfinder sometimes I have to switch off and on, in order for it to work.

2- exposure compensation dial , does not reflect on the screen the amount on the dial. Dunno why. I need to reset the camera again.

3- sometimes I can really see through the. Viewfinder until I actually press the shutter button. Any ideias guys ?

I've seen 1 a few times, 3 once but wasn't sure and I hardy ever use exposure comp but did this morning and it worked as expected so not sure on that one

After a few years of waiting, I finally managed to catch an Apache in the Mach Loop! :D

Great shot, possibly one of the most expensive I've seen - because that made me look at your Flickr account, which in turn led me to the kite shots.... now i seems I need a 100-400!

Just wondering - anyone tried these extension tubes (link), they also come in black if you don't fancy garish red..

I have them in black. Mount was a little on the snug side on each of them, but after inserting and removing themselves from each other repeatedly for a few minutes, they loosened up just fine.

They work great, AF/aperture has worked flawlessly. :)

Why do I always see things like that 2 minutes after I've made an Amazon order? :banghead:

@ASH your parcel is on it's way. It's a biggish box - approx 1 ft square so won't fit through your letter box. Post Office said it should be with you in 48 hours "or so". No idea what that means, so keep a look out for it.

@Mr Perceptive 9:45 Ruebens Coffee shop. Large skinny Latte in a mug, not a glass. Do you want it painterly?

@Andrew Moore are you still going? Don't bring your credit card - you should be selling gear not buying more! Fancy a meet lunchtime-ish for a photo walk to the pub? PM phone number if you do.

@Nod you are always just too slow:p

Excellent, thank you

Ill be there! Credit card required though.. Need to give it to my wife so she leaves me alone (with the spare! :naughty:)

Photowalk around Lvp wouldngt be a bad shout! Lets hope it isnt raining!

The 90mm is so on my list

I flogged the 56mm 1.2 to get it, a couldn't afford / justify having both. I figure that my 35mm 1.4 will stretch most things I used my 56mm for, and now I have more reach with the 90. And of course....the quality is out of this world!

lol, just bought one - worse thing is I have an 85mm 1.4 which is excellent- damn GAS!!

 now that is bad GAS! I was tempted to get the 85 1.4 (I'm assuming Samyang here)... would have been a hell of a lot cheaper! But what can I say... I got lured in by the Fuji magic!

I've had my heart set on a 35mm 1.4 for months, but since seeing how shallow a fast tele can get (and that awesome mono earlier in this thread), i'm seriously considering the 85mm instead...

Do bear in mind though that it is manual, so getting little lunatics scooting about had a lot of missed frames, granted most of that little batch were close enough, but still. What I should be doing is practising manual so I can make the most of it.

Thank you Frank. It will probably arrive the same time as the other one.

True, I have the 55-200 so could spend some time with that set to 85mm and manual.
Strangely enough I spotted a tip somewhere earlier for shooting manual with fuji - the focus peaking can be hard to pick out when shooting colour, so shoot in mono with red peaking, then edit the raw if you want the colour version. :)

Yes, well reminded - I'd read (and forgot) that tip.

The funiest thing at the moment for me is having it in Acros, but shooting in RAW, so the previews look B&W but the finished is in colour, even in lightroom when loading its a greyscale preview until it loads.

Aye, it is the Samyang. Whats scary is I keep thinking about the 100-400, still maybe it will happen, just need to shift three lenses and a XT1 :D

Well to break from GAS for a moment (and to prove I actually use the stuff I buy!), heres a piccy!!

Misty morning
