The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I'd imagine you could have a special courier delivery entrance that the wife didn't know about, and then an un-wrapping room behind a secret panel with a chute for packaging recycling, which then lead onto the lens room.

Not that I've spent time thinking about it!

I really like your style!

Out of interest, was this the Dale Evans, Mike Towell fight? I saw a news article last night and recognised some of the tattoos from your photos - awful news about Mike Towell. :(

Apologies if not.
sorry to say yes it was the Mike Towell fight, when he hit the deck and i seen what the condition he was in,I stopped taking pix.
RIP "Iron Mike Towell"

Really tragic, just read his partner's Facebook statement :(

That's a superb capture/portrait of your boy, love the shallow dof and his expression.

Thanks Peter. I took 600 photos today and I'll be lucky if he's looking at the camera or in my general direction for 5 of them :D

To be fair, I was mostly testing AF speed, hence the obscene number of shots. In CH it's like a frigging machine gun!

I wanted this camera badly. This picture has made me NEED it. Great shot, thank you sir.

It's a great camera but this could have been taken on any of Fujis interchangeable bodies to be honest. Mostly because it's such a balanced scene and I didn't need to crop much.

That said, I'm loving the much improved AF and dynamic range. Both saved my arse on more than one occasion today!

Lovely image and really nicely processed. I'd love to able to take and process a shot like this.

You could try Calumet. I've just picked up mine on the 2nd batch.. I did jump the pre-order queue by paying full amount up front.. took around 2 weeks from exchanging my XT-1

I've admitted defeat!

Here's everyone's official line -

Park - end of October but 90% of those are preorders.

Jessops - no idea. 130 on back order. Can preorder with deposit

Cameraworld. November ish...

Big Currys digital - probably won't stock them.

Now to make myself feel better by buying some comic books from Forbidden Planet ....

I'm using an X-T10, but intrigued as to what AF settings you (and others) use for this type of shot?

RAW + JPEG. I only ever import RAW so the JPEGs are just a backup in case the worst happens.
I do that for my Nikon but with the XT1 there's no point as you only have the one card so no backup :( I'm guessing the XT2 has dual slots?

Is anyone using the T2 EVF in auto brightness mode? I'm a bit skeptical as I like to try and see the image exposure roughly equal to my calibrated screen (difficult obviously with ambient lighting changing). Do you trust the histogram and hope?

For this single point auto focus. It was one of the first shots I took and I hadn't delved deeper into the wider focus modes at that point.

Interesting. I'd do the same myself up to now, but my son who's 19 months is generally just too fast for me.

I like a shallow DoF so single point can be tricky when he's so damn quick! Changed to zone yesterday and was focusing quicker but not always where I'd like it.

Yet to try wide/tracking, but by all accounts it's not fantastic on the T10 anyway.

Will have a further play today I think.

No, tried it and didn't like it. Mine is set permanently to +2.

Mine is permanently set to +3. I know I will be tweaking things when I get back so am not too bothered about a totally accurate representation. It's only a JPEG that you see anyway, and I shoot principally RAW.

I'll say this personal quote again;

"My recent return to the Fuji X system has made me more creative/artistic in every way".

I love it!

I'm inclined to agree with you there Peter.(y)

"I've always enjoyed looking at your images but personally feel they have just been more appealing since you've been back on Fuji-X. I'm not talking about overall detail and image quality as we all know a Fooj would have a pretty difficult job competing with a D8++ series unit on that front though from what I've seen and experienced the X-T2 units are pretty damned close to the D750 cameras on image quality. Its difficult to explain exactly what I mean but I definitely prefer your more recent images from your Fooj units if that makes any sense. Keep up the good work"

George.

A bit more Canon gear gone so now need to decide between the 90mm f2 or 23mm f1.4 to add to the collection next.

Tempted by the 23 as i cant see me using the 100T as much now i have the X-T2 but would never sell it as it still has a special place in my heart.

90mm on the other hand is more my style of hanging back and observing from the outside along with trying to avoid the 50-140 at the moment so i don't become lazy like i was with the 70-200 MKII on the 1DX.

On the flip side of everything though im well impressed with the OIS of the 100-400 which i have only recently been using since its purchase a month ago,my god its good.

Looking forward to trying them out at the last round of British Superbikes although i think its going to feel very strange not carrying a 500mm f4,300mm f2.8 and a 70-200 f2.8 all day.

A lot lighter though bud

Hoping for some nice way cash flow soon so might have to scratch the X-T2 itch! Reading a few reviews in magazines and real world use gives me the distinct impression that the X-T2 is a significant step up (as in a genuine upgrade) from the X-T1 so worth doing. 10-24 on X-Pro1, 18-135 on the X-T1 and 100-400 on the X-T2?

Anyone looking for an X-T2, Cameraland cardiff have two in stock. I've just come off the phone chasing my XF35 f2 so act fast if you want one.

Just come back from a long walk in the park with my daughter and the xt2 with 16-55 f2.8

Took a load of shots with her running towards me. Wow- the focus tracking on this camera is seriously impressive. 99% of the shots fired nailed focus. A joy to use.

Just a heads up - LCE in Nottingham have 2 X-T2's in stock - couldn't believe it when I saw one in the window!!

That's what I'm hoping too as this is the area I struggle with most. I'm happy that my pictures taken with the D750 are technically correct (for the most part), which is great for sports and wildlife etc, but I want to get creative and I have a real block with this.

Thanks for all the heads up guys. I've pre-ordered with my local Jessops as I wanna get the trade in bonus. I have an old Sony camcorder that doesn't even come up on their list that I'll get the £100 on (a £100 bonus on 0 haha) , leaving me to sell my G6 privately so I should get a couple of hundred off the overall price that way.

Also that Jessops is a 10 min car journey from me so it's more convenient for any warranty issues.

Late October is gonna be some wait!

Thanks for all your help guys. Weighing it up I'm just gonna Pre-order from my local Jessops or Park and get the £100 trade in too. Considering the far eastern imports aren't much cheaper, it seems sensible to wait and at least there'll be no risks.
I've used Panmoz a lot. I don't see there being any risk. Unbelievable customer service from that company. I say this with the xt2 sitting next to me! Ordered on a Friday, arrived on Monday. You could be waiting until next year for the local dealers. That's the impression I got .
