The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I toyed with the idea of the pro 2, but the tilting screen and larger evf won me over for the XT.

Got the 56 f1.2 today, wow what a lovely lens, couple of 1.2'ness in the garden just now

It's great that we can get this shallow DoF on apsc cameras, well done Fuji [emoji3]

Two very nice shots Gregg, with lovely colour, well composed, and good detail particularly in #2.(y)

George.

ok i'll take that advise!
Didnt remember that. So if i shoot raw and then i edit in the camera with ACROS lets say, does it render the image as if it was shot in ACROS?

My understanding is that Lightroom/the Fuji in build film simulations don't work as well for Acros as it does manipulation in camera, you should be good for the rest though, so Acros for JPEG and RAW for everything else makes sense

I'd have to disagree, for me the USP for Fuji X is the quality of the jpegs, so I'd bracket simulations and you've always got the raw file to do with what you will. I'm a lazy sod so the less PP'ing I have to do the better :)

For me it would be, Classic chrome, velvia and Acros

Im looking for something a bit faster thank you xD

These lexar they have bad reviews actually.... are you having good performance?

Thank you! i hacve just tried the camera... omg im not used to it at all.. i keep looking to the screen to change settings lool
Getting everything ready for the 4 days trip. Still deciding how im going to shoot,,, probably Raw in one card and Acros in the other....

What sort of write speed are you after?

+1 on the Transcend, I bought the 64GB version

If you read enough anything can have a bad review, over 800 5 star reviews on Amazon v 50 odd bad ones, someones always going to moan.
Had no performance issues at all, honestly think your really really overthinking it, they're just SD cards...

But you can't bracket sims AND have a raw file, unless I'm misunderstanding.

Looks nice Jim, but too big for me.

I should have added something smallish and compact under £50

i am also looking for a bag for the X-T2. That Thinktank Reto 7 is ~£140.. for a bag? Manufacturers must take toggers for mugs...

Confusing this results with the cards guys.
I really don't know what card to buy. I might just wait for some reviews and use my slow (30mb/s) card while waiting. Don't want to rush things.

In regards to the screen protector I will order the one I posted cause 8£ is not that expensive ;)

I'm using those 150mb/s Lexar cards you got the link for and I was shooting in RAW + JPEG with the card set as backup and was doing 11fps bursts and viewing the photos right after.

The Fuji XT2 battery (NP-W126S) is 1260mAh, 7.2V and 8.7Wh and my EXpro battery is 1260mAh, 7.2V and 9.1WH so I take it that the EXpro batteries are already equivalent to the Fuji XT2 battery?

I want to buy two UHS 2. However because of my plan I muggy only need 1
One for raw and the other to backup in jpes. Does it make sense ?

That transcend card seems legit. I always had sandisk ...

I mean I just had that had to be a difference between this two. Cause one is 10£ pounds cheaper ....

Yes it will but only at UHS-I speeds. You can get a UHS-II USB reader for around £10 and that'll allow your mac to read the UHS-II card much faster.
Thanks Jim, as long as it reads them i'm happy.

I've always used transcend in 10 years they've never failed me. You have a lifetime warranty if they do.

Interesting that the XT2 can be bought for less than the X PRO2 in B&H across the pond.

That was always the intention regarding pricing. The xrpo was supposed to be more and when launched ore Brexit at £1349 would have made the xt1 £1249 five or take vs rates.

Xt2 launches after Brexit and subsequently the price is £1399.

That xpro price is probably the "dropped price" with inflation considered due to rates.

RRP of the X-Pro2 in the UK has gone to £1,499 - The current price is probably based on existing stocks combined with slight price reduction as its been out a while.

X-T2 has not been subjected to the last round of Fuji price increases as it was launched knowing there would be a price adjustment ahead.

Showing my ignorance here, but what is bracketing sims, and how do you do it? Not sure I'll use it if it's what I think you mean, but I'd like to understand what you are on about!

One of the "bracketing" options is, when shooting exclusively Jpegs, to bracket film simulation types so that, for instance, with one press of the shutter you can capture images in Velvia, Astia, and Acros. The two downsides of this are that you cannot use the bracket function for anything else, and you cannot also record raw files at the same time.

Bad news for @Mr Perceptive and others...

I mailed CGUK asking if/when a Sunwayfoto L bracket for the X-T2 would be available. Here is their reply:-

Hi Mr Yates

Thanks for your enquiry.

We have asked Sunwayfoto a number of times for an update on them producing an L-Bracket for the XT-2, but seem very reluctant to pursue this. We have recommended to them that this would be an excellent candidate for producing (like the XT-1 was), but so far no luck.

We will forward your request onto them again and hope that another nudge will wake them up.

Looks like we'll be searching out cheapo Chinese copies instead of the good stuff.

OOH. It's a long time since I was up there. You sorting out your new home? Be just round the corner won't it?
If I was being picky could it do with a touch more contrast?
Yes, Austwick is about a 10 minute drive from the new place. The landlord's got the decorators in just now. Pick up the keys early October and move mid-November, just in time for winter.

Funny. The quote is different from what you have written!

That is a brutal adjustment. Not sure I'd be too confident of that central bolt holding. Doesn't seem to be too much material left.
Thought you were selling yours in the classifieds?

Well I am, I really want the front lip and ideally corner lip on any bracket that I buy, so that the camera does not have the opportunity to twist. Think I'll wait for the RRS one to be available, and have a look at it, and then decide whether to fork out for it or wait for the inevitable Chinese copy.

Must have an L so the Fuji one is out.

First outing with the XT2 today and I m very impressed. The focusing system is way ahead of that on the XT1. The face detection is also very improved

Great set there Mr P, I'm enjoying the photos whilst i wait for the XT2. I've started to read the manual is the menu system a new one compared to the XT1?

The menu system changed with the X-Pro 2, not sure if it was updated the same on the XT1, very easy to navigate though!
